I just want to give a shout out to the police in Cleveland, OH for the great work they did finding those girls. Oh, wait. Nevermind. After 10 years, the girls finally escaped and neighbors came to their aid. I wonder how many drug raids have happened in that neighborhood? How many traffic violations, parking tickets, code violations, there were in that time. If you're a police officer on the front lines, I don't fault you personally, but in general my message to the police departments is GET FOCUSED! Start serving and protecting instead of acting as modern day highwaymen and tax collectors. And when your superiors can't seem to get it through their thick skulls what your main mission is- BLOW THE DAMN WHISTLE! www.foxnews.com/us/2013/05/08/cleveland-police-hit-with-claims-missed-clues-after-3-women-freed/This is just RE DAMN DICULOUS. On numerous occasions the police were summoned to this house according to witnesses. Mind you the house is mere blocks- walking distance- from where the girls disappeared and one of the calls to police reported a girl screaming out the basement window, and another reported seeing naked women tied up like dogs with collars out in the back yard. They've got probable cause when they want to have probable cause- and THIS?!? This doesn't = probable cause. The police, for their part, are denying these calls were ever made. I think when the dust settles there ought to be hell to pay in the Cleveland Police force.

And remember this the next time some lib paints a horror story about living with no police protection because of budget cuts. I think these girls can sum up it up pretty well: what's the fucking difference?

I keep saying the police have no actual power to protect anyone (what crimes have police actually prevented?). They've become glorified tax collectors. The police only take action AFTER someone has been victimized or killed. Up until that point, we're all on our own...

They'll be there to poke around with the cadaver dogs after the fact- but that's about it. It's scary to think they want to disarm us.

Are you recommending the police start entering houses without warrants and probable cause? If the guys own family members didn't know about the "secret dungeon" how the heck are the police supposed to know?

No, I'm recommending the police enter on probable cause when they get a call from a neighbor who's kid was terrified because as they walked by the house they saw what looked like a girl reaching out the basement window and screaming. Or, when they get a call that there are multiple naked women out in the back yard chained with dog collars.

Naked chicks in the backyard don't require a warrant.

"Elsie Cintron, who lives three houses away, said her daughter saw a naked woman crawling in the backyard several years ago and called police. "But they didn't take it seriously," she said." And in your link there is no mention of hands reaching out of a basement window. If you are going to post such 'facts', you could at least provide links to back it up.

Unfortunately, all sorts of whack jobs call the cops with bizarre complaints. They probably did a drive by after hte complaint of the naked chick in the backyard, didn't see it and left.
Are they supposed to search all the houses in the neighborhood based on every freaky call? If Paul had a naked chick in his backyard, after he was done crapping himself, he would wig out if the cops wanted to come in his house to check and would spout about police abuse of our rights.

At the very least, you knock on the door and you get a feel for what's going on. But it's easier to write citations and collect money.

Yeah, there's some whacked people in the neighborhood. Have a nice night. You think he'd say "hi officer. Yes, I'm holding 3 woman against their will in my basement. Would you like to come see my dungeon? It's really cool! While you're at it, why don't you take a gander at my meth lab and pot plants? I'll also show you my child porn collection on my laptop."

This stuff is horrible and makes me terrified as a parent. At least if your child was killed in a car accident, you wouldn't have to stay up and worry at night that they are being tortured. I can't imagine sleeping every night for 10 years when your child is missing.

You have now provide unconfirmed evidence there were three naked females in the backyard. Now about your claim a hand seen waving but of a basement window.

IF they did get such a call, which is still not known. They deny it (of course). Like with any breaking story, it is best to wait until the facts come out before attempting to pass judgement or come to any conclusions. On the face of it, this story, like any longterm kidnapping, seems incredible. That may be where the "Stockholm Syndrome" may come in? But again, I am jumping to a conclusion without hearing the facts...... Or wait for the movie to come out (because we all know it's coming)

It's been reported they DID knock on the door, but nobody answered. Now what? If the see/hear nothing unusual, do they break in based on a telephone call from an unknown?

Well, I'm not a cop so I guess I don't have the requisite experience to suggest that they keep a record of all tips, complaints, reports that come in so that when you get one, two, three reports of strange goings on at the same address, you can start to watch the place. On the third complaint, would it be completely out of the realm of possibility to use probable cause to enter, and/or get a warrant to search the premises on the suspicion of domestic violence? One thing I know for sure is- two witnesses reported that the police never even showed up. I'd personally like to know what else the police where doing? The police are saying they don't even have a record of ONE of these alleged complaints / reports.

I'm sure you'd feel exactly the same way if a couple of your neighbors decided they didn't care much for you and started making telephone calls to the cops accusing you and your family of all sorts of dastardly deeds. The cops, upon finding your house empty a couple of times, decide to enter on "probable cause" (probable cause being a couple of disgruntled neighbors). Yeah. That's gotta be the ticket.

You won't get a warrant and you don't have probable cause.
