I just started watching Mad Men. I am only on episode 8 of the first season and I can't figure out who annoys me the most - the men or the women. The men are all pigs that cheat on their wives and the women, well they are just annoying I guess. I can't stand that little twerp, Pete. I think he annoys me the most but still I can't stop watching it. I am addicted...

Dh forced me to watch the first season or so but I fell off the wagon and don't miss it. I agree, the characters aren't that likable, and they get even worse as it progresses.

Peggy is the best character. She is the only one I'm rooting for.
I'm waiting for them to merge with McMann and Tate to really help their growth.

I've only watched a couple episodes. I can't decide if it's intriguing or annoying.

Ha! We are now hooked too. DH and I ordered Six Feet Under but inside was Mad Men. So we watched it. It made me stabby and DH said it was very hard and awkward to watch. But we couldn't get it out of our minds and wanted to know what happens to the characters. We just finished Season 1 and are Jonesing for Season 2. Wait until you see the end of Season 1. Holy Cow!! I want to take Pete out back and beat him to death most times. He's so little I think I can take him. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/cool.png)

We just started watching too!! We watched all of the first few seasons on Netflix and ordered the last one off eBay to get all caught up before the current season started. I am addicted.
The other series I can't step away from is Bates Motel. LOVE IT!

The one I watched last night was where the guys sold her marketing idea regarding the lipstick. Everybody was out at the bar having a good time and Pete told her he didn't like her like that... like what - having fun! Everything about him rubs me the wrong way.

The other series I can't step away from is Bates Motel. LOVE IT! I have heard the Bates Motel is really good. I don't have cable so I watch most everything on Netflix, Hulu, or I get it from the library. That is one I definitely have on my list to watch.

I'm catching up and am finally on Season 5 from the library. I did find it hard to watch in the beginning because of the sexism, but it is still interesting even if I only tolerate the Pete character now.
Peggy is my favorite and there are more annoying characters in future seasons. It is a well done show. I do think White Collar though leaves me happier after I watch it because the characters are much less annoying and its contempary nonsense.
Overall, most annoying characters are Pete and Betty for me.

If you are in season 1, Pete's douchtastic ways are just barely developed.

I haven't seen an episode of Mad Men yet, I keep meaning to but I have a ton of other shows to catch up on. American Horror Story for one - that show is awesome. I am in the middle of Season One, and I love the actor Evan Peters now.

I also want to add if you are watching from DVDs some of the bonus features and commentaries are interesting. I don't know what season it is in, but when Betty bangs the crap out of the DR chair and breaks it is from one of the writer's experiences growing up.
I did however want to yell at the creators of one bit concerning how the Mustang was created, etc. They kept going on and on about how it was about the changing tastes of the Boomers and given when they started the project some may have just started driving(1946 is the year the earliest Boomers were born ... so they weren't coming home from the war like the content creator thought) it was ludicrous like most stuff that uses generations as rationalizations. Other than that, it was interesting as it took years and off-site work to launch the car.
Oh, and avoid the commentaries with the child actors. They rarely say much of value or shed any insight into the show or their performances.

I wanted to reach through the screen and rip his ugly face off when he stomped that poor little mouse. Re: Six Feet Under - We love it! We also saw American Horror Story season 1 and loved it. Six Feet Under starts kind of slow but by the next disk we were totally hooked. We were watching Weeds at the time and it just got so off the wall we never watched the last season. DH wants to finish that series but I'm loving Six Feet Under and Mad Men so much I've forgotten all about them. I don't know if American Horror Story season 2 is out yet and now I'll have to add Bates Motel to the list. Has anybody watched Dexter? DH wants to start that one next but I think I'd rather watch Bates next if it's on DVD already.

Another good show is The Killing. I was actually glad I waited until both the 1st and 2nd seasons were out because if I couldn't have started the 2nd season I might have had a break down ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png) They finished that particular story line at the end of the 2nd season so I am okay with waiting for Season 3. I am with you on Weeds. I enjoyed the first couple of seasons but then the main character (can't remember her name) became so completely stupid that I just couldn't take it anymore.

Her name is Nancy. How can anybody be so stupid and still live? I was almost relieved when she got shot! But she lived. We've not watched since but DH still wants to finish it. re: The Killing - are any animals hurt? I can't take those story lines and it always ruins the movies for me. We've been using Blockbuster because they are just up the street and then we signed up when we got hooked on these shows because they only carry Mad Men at the store so far and regular movies. The rest we have to get through the mail. We are trying to help keep them in business since they are right here but we will most likely change to Netflix because they are cheaper and Rukh owns their stock . ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png)

Had to google the McCann & Tate one too, even though I grew up on those reruns. Too funny. We got into the first couple seasons of Dexter and Weeds. But Weeds got too crazy and we lost interest. The first few seasons were great and I wish they would have continued along those lines. Dexter is just a bit too graphic for me to handle most of the time but I loved the show. I started to lose interest in it after he married Rita though (sorry if that was a spoiler for anyone!). DH always refused to watch HIMYM. He caught a couple episodes at the gym while he was captive on the treadmill and now loves it. So we are watching our way through that right now. Along with Freaks & Geeks ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)
