How Much Do You Spend on Manicures/Pedis?

  DD, 11, loves to have her nails done.  A new nail spa just opened in town so i took her down.  She got a pretty teal gel nails done and the lady hand painted a bunny on one of the nails on each hand.  Really cute.  Cost $20.  I think that could be addicting.

Just be careful to keep an eye on her nails, shoobs.  A young one is more apt to crack a nail with the way they play.  A crack can result in a crappy nail fungus.

I spend about $50.00 per month on pedis.  It's my one real extravagance.  I don't bother with manis because I'm on a computer so much, the ends just chip and crack.

I get my nails with shellac which lasts much longer than regular manis. With a pedi and tip, I pay 65 a month. I get French which costs more than regular color.

Can I hijack a little? Anyone ever do a full spa day? How much? I have to take the kids to a 2 day lab class  and was considering this, but honestly all I can think of is how many weeks of cleaning person I could get for that money, lol...

In my part of the world, a full day spa can run you as much as $600-$800 plus tip. Lunch included. That would be: table bath, body scrub, body wrap, body massage, foot and scalp massage, facial, mani-pedi and blow-out. Of course you could scale back if you want to do less, but the full day packages are as described above. I've done it only once in my life (an anniversary gift from DH). But I felt like a million bucks afterwards.

I do my own manicures - I don't like the way they shape my nails, and like GEL said they just get chipped from working on a keyboard. Pedicures, once a month = $30 plus tip.

Yes. About $300. I got bored after a while. Pedicure and massage is plenty for me.

I spend $0 - nothing.   Mani/Pedis are not in the budget.  I can't handle fumes from nail polish.  I had a pedicure once when I was too pregnant to do it myself.  I didn't like the way she did it at all.

My toes are waaaaay too ticklish to do a pedicure (I tried once and had the entire shop laughing at my shrieks of laughter!)

I rarely wear nail polish since I tend to have my hands in the garden dirt a lot ~ and I'm famous for my uncanny gift of chipping nail polish! When I'm feeling especially festive or adventurous, I buy clear or light pink and just do it myself.

i LOVE the pampering of getting my nails and/or toes done.  Places around me charge $30-35 for mani/pedi + tip.  Friend found a nail tech school about 10-15 minutes away.  Mani is $5.  Combo mani/pedi is $12.  Plus tip of course.  Still can only afford it a few times/year on my limited, retirement budget.  i do prefer to eat and $15 is over half a week's grocery/house money.

Other downside is that I will NOT cook or clean right after I PAY to have it done so on the hook for dinner out/brought in.

  It isn't my thing but DD enjoys that kind of pampering so i try to take her for a "girls day out" for some mother daughter bonding.  Unfortunately, i am a long time nail biter (yeah, my bad) so the only thing i could do is get artificial nails but that wouldn't work out for me at my job.

I keep my claws trimmed short but get them done every two weeks...$20 each. I have a thin layer of acrylic and a cute polish. The acrylic keeps them strong and the polish last longer. It looks well kept but not so long that I can't function in my life. I get tons of compliments. Every six months or so I go natural for a few weeks to give my nails a break. Spa pedicure once per month at $50/each. I have a toenail that wants to be ingrown if I don't pay attention so the monthly pedicure is a must have for me.

I like getting pedicures, but one of my nails is now black for the first time in my life.  I'm thinking the place up the street gave me a fungus.  I had my questions about that place.  It is the "cool" place to go - but it is filthy.  All my friends and neighbors go, and I have to make excuses when they are like "Oh, come with us."  It would be fun - but I need a silkwood shower after I leave.  I've had one pedicure since I noticed the black nail.  And I painted my own toes once or twice since then.  I'm not sure what my go-forward is.  I'm trying to figure out if I can convince all my peeps to go to a place that has heard of a broom and a mop.

Both of my big toe nails were black/purple in spots for awhile from running. I keep them polished and it finally grew out.

I have never had a mani or pedi but thought about it last year. I got diabetes and am supposed to watch my feet for wounds and maybe foot rubs. I told the doctor I might get a pedicure and she said never to do that. They use instruments on feet that might cause wounds.

I got over the diabetes but still don't think they would be good for me.

About $20 for the pedi once a quarter or so. $30 for a full set of acrylic once a year. Just on long enough to stop me from biting my nails again.

I don't get pedis- one I have a tendency to ingrown toenails and foot injuries (when I am in good shape I play a lot of sports and I HATE shoes!) The other being the combination of being diabetic and ticklish....

I splurge on having the podiatrist trim my nails professionally on a regular basis- it is usually covered by insurance- but it is $40 or so if not. If I want my toes painted, I just raid the stash. I don't generally wear flops and I only wear my heeled sandals to two places- church and the bar....

I have absolutely no clue what a manicure costs. If I feel like my nails look bad, I chew them off, file them and paint.

I have recently become addicted to the no-chip manicure because otherwise i just can't keep polish on my nails. They run about $40 but I look for deals and can usually get it for $20 or under.

I spent $30, including tip, on my pedicure last weekend. Considering I get them every once in a while, I think if it as a rest. For me, it was a treat as I had time to myself, read on my Kindle and got pampered with DH watching DD at home. Best $30 I spent!!

I spend about $30/mo for my pedicures.  I have lost so much flexibility that I can't reach my toes to cut my nails.  Don't do my fingernails, a mani lasts me about 20 min.....or it did the last time I had one.  After that, no more.

Yes, a manicure would look good out there for about 15 minutes.

Besides $40 or $50 a month would pay my waterbill or buy veggies to eat or whatever, that's $480 to $600 a year.

It's easy to justify only $40 a month here, $40 there but pretty soon it mounts up to real money.

people want to spend their money on different things....if someone wants to spend it on manis/pedis, what makes what you (generic you) spend it on better?

When I was pregnant and couldn't reach my toes anymore, I got pedicures too. It ranged from $22 to $30 a month depending on where I went and the service I received. I don't get my fingernails done either as manicures hardly last on me.

Much like some posters above, a mani would be a waste of time given my line of work and my hobbies. I like pedis, but just don't get them done. More because of lack of time instead of lack of money. Last pedi I had was right before my son was born 2 1/2 years ago. I don't remember how much it cost. Maybe $40 or $50 pre-tip? I'll probably get another one before this one is born in November, too, just for the pampering aspect. I do spend about $150 on hair color every couple of months. It's my required maintenance so that I don't look like a: a skunk and b: an OLD MOM.

$80/month for the manicures, and $100/month for waxing. It looks like I may have to increase the waxing budget, due to getting more done. Not sure by how much, though. I will be checking out a place next week, since I have a coupon.

No pedicures; my feet can't handle the handling.

Never had either one.  I cannot stand anyone to touch my feet, including DH.  So I know I don't want a stranger doing anything to them.   And I have clean feet, wear clean socks, and wash my tennis shoes. 

I have had a certificate for a manicure for 1 year, all 10 nails are never long enough at the same time to get it done. 

And I just finished roofing (helping) a building, so they still aren't manicure-ready.
