It's your money to do with as you please but $180 a month would almost pay our electric bill, will more then do that right now. Or would got buy groceries or other items. I just can't imagine, $2160 a year for waxing and manicures. Got a lot more money then me, for sure. well since the alternative is being hairy and having scraggly nails (which probably wouldn't do much for one's career) I think it's a wise investment. Again here we are with people being critical of anyone who spends money on themselves (manis/pedis/makeup/waxing/salon coloring). Is there a prize for spending less than $10 a year on your grooming?

When I worked I did manis and pedis on a regular schedule. It was part of the dress code. Now that I'm retired I do my own manis (clip them short so I can work around the garden and house)
When women get older there are different reasons to get a pedi. It's healthy for your feet to be trim and well cared for. I don't get them as often as I should, but I do them myself (not so good though) in between. Basically I'm just lazy and have too much energy at the same time. I have a hard time sitting still for 30 minutes or so it takes to do the pedi. I have to be in the mood.
It's difficult to take care of those around us if we don't take care of ourselves first. It can be part of a healthy lifestyle. I'm not saying to be self centered, just healthy. For me it's part of a healthy lifestyle.

I am kind of like happyscooter; I cannot stand to have strangers touching me. I do all of my mani/pedis, facials, waxing, hair cuts or coloring myself.

0. This year I decided to start painting my toes a red/wine color and I've been doing a pretty good job. I'm too lazy to go somewhere to get it done and I don't want to get a fungus that people here keep talking about. It takes an act of Congress to get me to go get my hair cut professionally about 2 or 3 times a year. But invite me out to dinner or dancing and I'm there! ETA: Working out at the property and here in my garden there is no point in getting a mani. If I had Zib's gorgeous hands I'd not need one ever. She has the most beautiful hands and skin I've ever seen! <<jealous>>

Shellac for my hands. No way could I rock a regular mani with my lifestyle. But I do take care of myself and always have. Getting new kind of facials now. Hydro facials. Better than BOTOX!!!!

I probably average about $5-10 per month on nail polish. I've had salon mani-pedis and they are fun, especially for the social aspect, but I've just always loved doing my own nails. It's fun to be creative with them and I can easily change them if I want to be more professional or don't like the results.
This past year I've started dabbling in gels, I like the results but it can be so time consuming. Last night I spent about an hour and a half giving myself a gel french manicure, that had me thinking a trip to the salon might we worth it just for the time. On the other hand I'm really happy with how they came out, and the kit only cost $15.
