In the year, 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt signed an immigration act which excluded Iidiots, Imbeciles, feebleminded persons, epilectics, insane persons, from being admitted to the United states. Too bad he did not include illegals across the Mexican border, and I assume the act has been over-ruled, but wouldn't it have been nice if it had included, "Elected members of Congress"?

I just figured I'd make as inaccurate a statement as you did. there are plenty of illegals coming from all over the globe, in myriad other ways than just driving or walking across the US/Mexican border. I'd have highlighted the ridiculously large illegal Brazilian population in my own area, except I feel the need to point out in response to you here that there's a ridiculously large illegal Chinese population in Southern CA as well. oh, and the myriad Arabic students over-staying their college Visas. should I continue? illegal aliens don't have a singular color or ethnicity, and I'm going to call you out on it if you imply it again. just saying....

I just lost a tremendous post to the inner space of the internet...... So here goes again.
Just to clarify, I have no problem Mexico being added to the Union, and becoming the 51st state, or in Obama's world, the 58th state. I think Mexico would be an excellent addition to our country, and would benefit Mexican and American citizenry alike. We can call it....... "Manifest Destiny"...... if you like. I would much prefer Mexico becoming part of our country, than say, Puerto Rico which is a territory of the USA. This would slow illegal immigration to a manageable number, and open Mexico to vast economic opportunities of housing America's retirees looking for a warm climate. Commercial and industrial development would follow, thus propelling former Mexican citizens into a living wage economy.

dj, we do not have a lot of Nicaraugans running around our neck of the woods. Mexicans......... yes
And isn't it amazing when you visit Mexico, even off the beaten paths, you meet Mexicans who can communicate enough in English to get along in conversation, but here, it is "no Habla English".

Well VB-when you only visit the heavily visited tourist spots in Mexico, of course the natives are going to peak passable English. After you VB visit all the rural areas of the country, get back to us on their English proficiency you seem to think all Mexicans possess.

Commercial and industrial development would follow, thus propelling former Mexican citizens into a living wage economy. I'm going to ignore a fair amount of what you've got posted here, because it's really quite offensive. that said, I'm not so sure that Mexico even wants to be part of our country. I'm just as sure that Canada doesn't really want to be part of our country either, that idea's been bandied around by quite a few "concerned" people in recent years too. that said, I notice that you've responded to my comment about your inaccurate statement about Mexican illegals in particular, and completely ignored any reference to other examples I gave of large illegal populations within the US. would you like to further "clarify" your opinion on illegal aliens in general, so we know what you actually feel? or would you rather specify certain subsections of illegal aliens, so that we can all distract ourselves with the argument about whether you are racist/elitist/anti-Semitic/pick-your-bigot?

After you VB visit all the rural areas of the country, get back to us on their English proficiency you seem to think all Mexicans possess. I have strayed off the beaten tourist spots in Mexico a couple of times, and find the native Indians are able to communicate some with me. Please do not give me grief over using "Native Indians", as that is what they are and darn proud of it too. Granted maybe they have family members working the tourist spots, so they pick some of it up from family. Believe me, I did get off the beaten paths when vacationing in other countries when I was younger. I picked this up in Vietnam when stationed there. On off days , I felt like an accidental tourist going to out of the way areas in the Saigon area, with no sidearm with me, just an old Kodak camera. Of course I was not in the bush, but there were areas around Saigon that you were not safe travelling around taking in local attractions. Lots of broken English conversations.....warm beer, and good memories of great people.

Everyone has had a grand time thinking how racist I am, but let's get back to the intent of the thread, and Teddy Roosevelt. Hard to believe just a hundred years ago we could possibly pass such (what is now thought of as) terrible inhumane legislation. Times have changed, and all you have to say is I am a political refugee, or a religous refugee and the gate is wide open, and I am pretty well . I stand by my comment, the legislation should stand as a requirement to hold political office in D.C. This is why we are in the mess we are facing today. If nothing else, knowledge of living within one's means and balancing a check book should be a requirement.

No, you did not, and I quite frankly am not bothered by other's comments, because in my heart, I know who I am, and what I believe. Just want to get back to how the country changes their attitudes in such a short amount of time. A hundred years is not that long, but I am a strict Constitutionalist, and do not believe Government should not do more than what was originally intended by our framers. As the Magna Carta was earth shaking it's political fall out, so is our Constitution. I feel as we add Amendments, we dilute it's actual quality. Except, of course, there are a few that were needed.

I'm sorry you think that my calling out your narrow-minded inaccurate focus means I think you're a racist. I posed my questions to engage a discussion, if for nothing else than to show that you aren't a racist. your first couple posts are pretty questionable.
