I've tried making one last change to the workaround. If anybody experiencing the problem has stopped experiencing the problem, please let me know either way.

I logged on, and it gave me nothing but links to snow leopards with the message "Happy Birthday! from Virgil".

I'll try it tomorrow when I get back to the office.
I want to make sure the admins know how grateful we are that they are willing to try a different domain. Changing the host means re-coding the references in every single page. That is no small feat.

...:::"It's far from perfect, since by the time it executes, everything that relies on the script files from 4d5.net (including plugins, and some of Proboards' runtime configuration) will have failed as a result of the script file not loading, but it should at least prevent the page from showing up looking like a dog's breakfast.":::...
OK I am back in my office, and Virgil's script seems to be working. The page loads as white links for a second, and then flips into this silver layout. So yes, whatever you did has saved my board experience as at last the boards are now usable.
So essentially, each time the page loads, your script sees that a bunch of stuff has gone missing, and it feeds me the missing pieces from copies you've kept.
Is there any possibility that an overzealous security-oriented admin could interpret that as suspicious traffic? I suppose we've always had various things running from your server so getting traffic from there is now new. I just want to make sure I keep flying under the radar.
I haven't toggled settings in my profile yet. I'll have to mess with it at home to see what style I like better. This one so far seems pretty lean and enjoyable. So I suppose the next test will be what happens when Proboards changes the domain that the css files are hosted on.
Anyways, thanks for doing that Virgil!

So, first time I've looked around since the 1st day of the upgrade (from home then) and am I missing something still or are the smileys not available in the quick reply? I see the ones others have posted, but the shortcut I just typed for one didn't work, it doesn't show as anything but text for me anyway.
And the keyboard shortcuts don't work?
Anything else I need to relearn? lol

In my excitement and trying to figure it all out, I forgot something.........
THANK YOU VIRGIL!!!!!!! (and anyone else who did the workaround)
I'm guessing it's the workaround that's making it work for me, since I see a flash of the white page and the links every time I post.

I wasn't really expecting it to work today, so any way that makes it works is a bonus for me.

8 Bit WWBG and Chocolate Lover, As I mention above, Hence some of the features that 'should' work won't. But hopefully it's better than nothing until Proboards gets the files migrated.

I wasn't complaining at all. I was just curious about some of the subtleties of the script, and how it might be interpreted by the agency IT security. Though as I speculated, if we normally got scripts from your server before, the traffic shouldn't appear to be different.
I really appreciate you doing this. Without the script, the boards were just not an enjoyable experience.

WTH?? Yesterday it was all pretty, then I lost it. I hit refresh and it went back to the links. I thought the might be doing the change over. I'm still at links this morning.

NO complaining here either. It's a billion times better than the page full of links. <<insert dancing banana here>>

I still get the links on my work computer. I even waited a minute or 2 to see if the screen changed from the links to the usual page, but it didn't happen.

Your work computer might be blocking 'our' server too, taz157. It might be set to flat-out reject any resources that aren't hosted on the same domain as the webpage you're viewing. If you're able to view the site on more than one browser at your workplace, see if switching browsers fixes the problem. Also, just out of curiosity, click on the following link at work: syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/nmsnm/mirror/forumstyle.cssand report what (if anything) you see.

Hmm. Looks like it's having trouble with the fact that it's a Linux server. I could (theoretically) fix it. You'll have to give me a day, though.

I would have no idea, but I appreciate what you can do, if anything. Granted, work does pay me to work so I guess I could do that instead of fooling around here... ::idunno:: I do appreciate anything you can do.

I just logged off of work settings while at home and still links. I am trying to work with the links view as well when at work. I can see avatars come through as HUGE pictures to the left of the screen. The post box is very small and easily missed. I can post and after I post I can see what I posted BUT I had a LOT of misspelled words and found an edit button but the edit button is like posting from scratch and does not show what I did post to make corrections. then I hit save and only what I typed in will save and post.

taz157 and ZaireinHD: try hitting refresh on your browsers. If what you see is still garbage, I've unfortunately reached the limit of my ability to work around the problem.

Virgil- I'm still getting links too. On Tuesday, it was good for a while, then I hit refresh and lost it. I can get on from other PC's on our same network, and it looks good- so it can't be a server issue. I get links when using Chrome or Firefox as well. But again, worked on Tuesday for a little while.

I haven't tried loading Chrome or Firefox back on here as the last time I did, I still go links. On another computer in our office that's pretty much bare bones, it works just fine. But on some one's computer with similiar programs as my main computer, I still get links. I take what I can get; however, I greatly appreciate what Virgil has tried to do. -yourock-

Now that I'm exploring in Chrome0 it's not fully functional- just a better layout. No emoticons, or URL insert funcions. Only quick reply format- even when you hit reply. It does have to boxes to choose- visual and BBCode- but neither seems to do anything. But at least it's an easier format to read.

Martyn has just responded on the support thread that the css will be moved today, but he didn't say when.
