I absolutely love our local post office. I find it useful professionally, but not necessarily personally. Some of the companies I write for insist on sending hard copies of things, which I in turn must send to my clients. Paying $1.23-ish in postage is much less expensive than driving it to my clients. Guess which poster I met over the weekend?

Not me! I have no idea who else is on your neck of the woods. There are lots of people in mine, but we never manage to get together (well, except for me and Firebird).
What are your two must have kitchen gadgets? (Mine are rice cooker and electric kettle.)

Some sort of coffee maker, whether it's the Keurig or standard. My second would be my garlic press. Are you doing any baking this season?

We go to my mom's house. When I told DH I plan on not drinking this year, he gave me an eyebrow. Yeah, better bring my flask. Favorite holiday food/treat?

I think my favorite holiday food/treat is a toss up between my mom's peanut butter bon bons and her potato rolls, both of which she usually only makes for holidays.
Any vacations planned?

Vacations -- yes! Just got back today from Colorado. Heading to Vegas in a few weeks, then the Bay Area for Thanksgiving, Miami in December, and Florida Gulf Coast in February.
If you were to buy a new car in the $25k to $35k range, what would you buy?

I allow myself an hour tossing and turning. If I still cannot fall asleep, I'll go to the living room and tweak around on my phone, or look for Roseanne reruns. I know screen time doesn't help at night, but oh well. One new thing I've been trying when I first lay down is the yoga based breathing of in, 2, 3, out 2, 3. Seems to help relax the bod. What are ways you relax?

I relax by binge watching Netflix or Amazon Prime.
It's also what I do when I can't sleep. Some nights I'll turn it off, try to sleep, and turn it back on until I can't keep my eyes open. Sometimes it's a series of off/on/off/on lasting until 2:30 or 3. With my alarm set for 6 and the dog's internal clock set for that time, I still have to get up even if I haven't slept all night. What I do, then, is focus on resting my physical body, even if my "mental" body can't rest with sleep.
Do you consider it "cheating" if you, yourself, are not in a relationship but have a one-nighter/fling/relationship with someone that is in a supposedly-committed relationship (and you know they are)? A friend and I disagree about this.

I wouldn't say that YOU are cheating, the partner is. but I'd absolutely say you were a shitty person for doing so.
have you ever been cheated on? did you stay with that person?

Once that I knew of for sure. I called locksmith and had locks changed on all doors. I did stay two more years because my divorce plan wasn't complete. Yep, I had a plan in place! Have you ever told a friend that their SO was cheating?

Can't say that I have. But I also have no friends so that may have something to do with it. Oh wait. Oh, never mind. Friend told me herself that her DH (no idea if he's ex yet) was cheating on her. So she went out and hooked up with someone else.
I have a "when DH finally kicks the bucket plan" in the works so a divorce plan is good as well. In my case, that would be the "when I am serving life in prison for murdering his annoying ass plan" but that's neither here nor there.
Life plans? Do you have them for major life events? My "DH kicks the bucket plan" is sell everything I have and move to South Dakota. I'll have enough money to live on for awhile until I get a job.

yes! LOL DNR!! I have been hospitalized often between 2016 - 2017. doctors keep asking me about the do not resuscitate if when my heart will stop during a surgery. but then when I say sure bring me the form. no one does! I am too young (age 45). it's mainly a question for people in or above age 70. then I ask why am I being asked! other than that no life plans for major events. Question: do you typically stay away from the scale to check your weight?

No, but I intend to buy a 10 visit pass to a local pool so that I can start doing some swimming for exercise. My shoulders and knees really need it.
Are you planning to dress up for Halloween?

Yes! This: Only with a different corset and skirt and adding a choke collar. Have you tried any of the caramel based alcohol? ie the new Crown caramel, caramel vodka, etc?

I think there was some caramel vodka in an apple-y sangria I had recently. -idunno- I don't have a huge sweet tooth, so it's unlikely that I would try a flavor like that as the main ingredient.
are you going to any Halloween parties this weekend? are you dressing up at work?

Hallowe'en started last night at work. The small company I work for had a parking lot party for everyone, complete with a catering truck, bounce house for kids, live music. Encouraged people to dress in costume and had a contest. DH and I went as clowns with costumes I had made more than 30 years ago. The 'couples' prize went to a couple of dogs that were dressed in real cute costumes and they were so well behaved. Kids prize went to a 'gecko', adult woman to a 'skeleton', adult man to a 'beautiful lady' (?). Tonight is a hot air balloon spectacular at a local baseball park. The balloons will be tethered. Tuesday evening will be a Hallowe'en festival on the main street of town. Yes, I plan on a costume at work Tuesday.
How many kids do you think will come to your home for goodies Tuesday? How many adults with an empty glass?

I won't be there, I'll be at work. but I live on the single road that leads into a well know "gold mine" neighborhood. in the 3 years I've been here for Halloween, I have fielded all of three tick or treaters. I'm going to leave a bag of candy with the roommate, since a little kid moved in next door a few weeks back. but I don't expect anyone other than him.
what do you typically stock for candy? whatever's on sale, do you have a standard, do you do the Teal Pumpkin thing?

Never heard of the Teal Pumpkin until just now, and I googled it. My standard is chocolate of some sort so I don't look like a cheap ass. Ready for the time change this weekend?

I rarely get sick, but when I do it's usually in the dead of winter.
Did you have many trick-or-treaters?

Yes. Our twin 3 year old neighbor kiddos. One was Batman, and one changed his mind at the last minute and was a hunter like their dad. Both adorbs. Rake up any leaves yet?

No, but they are just now starting to fall. My mom worked it out with a landscape guy that he'll all his leaves in her garden. It's a win-win for both; he doesn't have to pay to get rid of them, and it supplies some much-needed organic (as in organic, not "organic") material for her garden, which is still really sandy and needs more good soil development.
Have you done any bartering lately?

do you get a new phone every time your contract is up?

Not if I can help it. DH was perfectly fine with his ancient dumb phone until he had to go and drop the damn thing in the toilet. Now he has a smart phone where he figured out youtube and how to download solitaire in the first week. I am seriously starting to hate youtube.
We got a free tablet deal which actually didn't add too much to the total price. I like the thing and password locked it so DH can't use it.
If you have a tablet, what do you use it for? I mostly use it for reading online weblit and my emails. I plan to figure out Kindle and maybe the music app, whatever it's called.
