It is a monthly deal. Buy (2), I'm not sure of the size(s) and get a $6 EB. The limit for the month is (6), but the Aveeno deal is tracking to this so take that into consideration. There are also several great lotions that are on clearance that also might be a great deal: Lubriderm, Carmex, Dial Nutri-Skin, Eucerin, etc. In addition, the Aveeno this week is $4.99 / Buy 2 and get a $6 EB. If you buy (2) after a $3/2 coupon and the EB, the cost is $.50/ea. I bought the 12 oz. pumps. HTH I thought this $3 Q expired 12/31. Is it still good? Or is there another one? There is/was??? a $3/2 IP on coupons.com. I needed to do (4) transactions of (2) last Sunday (2 on each card), and I only had (3) insert coupons left, so I printed (4) of the IPs. There will also be another $3/2 that comes out this Sunday in the inserts. HTH

Rough start to 2013.
Over a year ago, DH had saved up a bunch of money to quit his job to start a new freelance career where he could work from home, with my blessing and encouragement. It seems that because of my good deals on food and some toiletries, and my influence on him, the saved money lasted longer than expected. He told me a few months ago that he was getting low on funds, yet when he told me a few days ago that after this month, all the money is gone, I was still shocked and freaked out. I know he told me but I guess it didn't hit me until it really hit me. I was scared to death for him, as running out of money is about the most frightening thing that I can think of, for myself. He seemed much cooler about it.
Now, you would think that since I have a job that seems secure and plenty of savings, that this wouldn't mean much, but I have to admit, it's hard for me to share. We've both been on our own and in charge of our own finances for a long time before we met, and we continued on the same path after we got married. (We do have a joint account meant for saving for a house.) I know I need to suck it up and be the breadwinner for both of us a while but I was always planning on being the one who got to stay home (with kids, with any luck) and now it doesn't seem that will be happening, at least not for a while. Sigh. I know, I sound selfish but I'm used to being in control of my financial future and now it doesn't feel that way.
It was my first day back at work today and they said that they will be blocking the streaming of videos (there go my Swagbucks) and watching what web sites we visit (there go my coupon sites) after they took away my printer a few weeks ago. This is on top of all the perks they've taken away from us in the last year, which has made morale really low and made me want to leave many times.
The good news is that DH has his third freelance job lined up so money will be coming in, eventually, though it may be a few months before it arrives. And it will be just enough to pay the bills, not for saving.
I just bought him a laser printer for Christmas so I'll be able to print plenty of coupons (which is good, since he cancelled the newspaper subscription--they raised the price from $10 to $16 in the last two months.)
So I'm trying to be positive but it's hard to let go. I don't feel like I can talk to my friends about this so I'm hoping some of you will understand. Thanks for listening.

Freesalsa,
It's always scary when you are the breadwinner in a relationship. BTDT. It is very stressful especially if your work starts cutting a lot of things. I hope that your DH's freelance career takes off soon. Good luck.

The printed limit is not correct in RA if you have not finished it. So go ahead and track it yourself and buy 2 more. Great, thanks, saveinla. Can I use the Up rewards I just got on the same deal? And can I use them on DH's card? Thanks. And thanks for the nice words.

CVS tonight
2x $9.99 +tax film developing (yes, that's right, I still have some old things of film that have been sitting in a cabinet. I have no idea what's on them so I'm waiting until I get them back before I turn in the other two.) -$4/20 -$2/$10 any photo -$5 ECB (expired) =$10.xx OOP (so $5.xx ea. instead of 9.99 ea.) = 50% savings ==> $1.50 ECB (Fall quarterly spending), $1 (green bag tag)
And now, good night!

Constanz I was wondering about good dishwasher soap deal. I thought I remembered GREAT P & G coupons and sales in Jan the last 2 years. Need to check my stock.
Dancin Sprry-I use the cat food coupons – esp the FREE ones. However, VERY few stores here stock that size.

I'm not really convinced that the drug store chains are going to necessarily stop their various coupons and other sales incentives. Aside from the EC exposure and what we read on the various coupon and deal websites, most customers do not use all the coupons, CRTs, receipt Q's and EB's as strategically as we do here(and the girls over at HCW, Afullcup et al). There is still a lot of motivation on the part of the stores to draw customers in. Nature abhors a vacuum. If one store eases back on the incentives, another will pick up in an attempt to gain that market share. I know that some of the things the stores do don't appear to make sense and sometimes make it a great deal more difficult. But, the bottom line is that they want your business and must continue to remain competitive.
Just a note, though I know that you guys already understand this. With regard to sales, CVS ranks above Walgreens which ranks above Rite Aid with regard to sales. Walmart comes in just under CVS in pharmacuetical sales.

With regard to sales, CVS ranks above Walgreens which ranks above Rite Aid with regard to sales. Walmart comes in just under CVS in pharmacuetical sales. I agree 100%. Of the "big three" CVS still probably offers the most savings, but in spite of getting a boatload of $10/$50s, using a couple of % off coupons on non-sale EB purchases, and the rare auto-deduct, my OOP at CVS increased by 150% during the fall savings period even though "my skills" are still the same. I was able to wipe out most of that using GCs, but there is not an endless supply of those. Everyone's situations are different - the state of their stockpiles and whether the promotions offered are on products that they need, the number of CVSes that are available to them, the ease of shopping there, and how much they have to pay in OOP. I am not 100% at ease with my plan to get out for a while, but I "feel" that it is the perfect time to do so. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether or not I will. I am planning for it and I want to do it, but I know burning those last EBs is really going to test me. ;D

I have been trying to slow down too but like DM every time I go to CVS, I seem to be getting more ECBs than what I use. I am hoping to cash in with the GC deals and take some time off. My stockpile is very healthy for the year and with the Aveeno deal I am stocked up fully on lotions. My goal is to get off the drugstore rewards cycle in February, but we will have to see.

I know that there is probably nothing that anyone can say to relieve your anxiety about the situation. I know that when things like that have popped up in our lives, I feel better as long as we have a long range plan that incorporates the various outcomes that may arise. If A happens then we'll do this; if B happens then we'll to that. Perhaps your DH should start putting feelers out there for work. That doesn't mean that he has to take a job or even interview if his freelance work picks up, but at least there might be options given to you (meaning the two of you as a team) that wouldn't be there otherwise. The more "options" you can create, the better.....if that makes any sense. Good luck and I'll be thinking of you.

All this talk about getting out of the game is somewhat freaking me out! Guess you could say I'm out of WAGS because I just don't like the one in my area. They weren't too coupon friendly before and now with all the new regs, I doubt it would be any fun. Rite Aid deals seem to have dried up, too--unless they do the home improvement cards again. Seems there's always stuff to get for house projects so that was a win-win. As for CVS, believe it or not, their prices on grocery items are sometimes way lower than my Raley's and Safeway so I won't stop shopping there anytime soon. Plus, my CVS folks are super nice. Mind you, my stockpile is pretty good considering I get 1 or 2 inserts a week, and not the ones from the metro paper.
Just hope people keep posting their deals.
Dancin: I'll try to remember the Purina One q's for you. They sell the 16 oz size at my Safeway so they may at yours, too. It's in a box, not a bag.

FreeSalsa: Take a deep breath. Life just hit you hard. I know how it feels to lose an income. Very scary--mostly because options are taken away. It's very do-able, though. Don't know what kind of freelance your DH does, but does it take all his time? Perhaps a little p/t job somewhere?

I would really appreciate it and Milo the Lizard Slayer will love you forever. I've actually had to spend OOP on pet food in the last 6 months. The last time this coupon came out, no one in my area stocked it so I really lost out.

I am sure that I won't be out permanently, but I definitely think the timing is perfect for me to take a break. Honestly, I haven't taken a break for over 6 years other than a couple of 1 week vacations out of the country and a couple of weeks after my dad passed away. When we went to Colorado this summer, I stopped at Rite Aid to buy some of the Home Improvement GCs and when we went up north so DH could go fishing, I stopped at a couple of CVSes along the way. I think a break from drug chain shopping is long overdue. Now, it's just a matter of actually getting out. I'll probably still be finding the deals and posting about them, I just won't be doing them. I'll live vicariously through all of you here.

Has anyone seen any organic coupons around in the newspapers or printables?? I switched my kids & I to mostly organic foods, and as we know, its more expensive. Thankfully, in California, the organic produce isn't too much higher than the "industrial" produce. ;D

Kroger shoppers: There is a promotion for Kroger and affiliate stores called Pop the Savings. I logged onto my Kroger account and loaded 5 P&G ecoupons and then went to play the game. Yesterday I got $5.00 loaded to my card and today I got $1.00. You can play every day till the 12th of this month. I love free groceries!

I know that this is waaaaay out there, but: HOUND ALERT: Purina One Beyond Cat Food Free 16 oz. (1/13 RP) I am down to my last bag of kibble for Milo the Lizard Slayer. I will post a repeat late next week, but please keep me in mind if you get these and have no kitty. I would love, love, love to rebuild my kitty kibble stockpile. TIA If I get them in my paper, you can have them. Coupon Hater Kitty only gets 9 lives because she is really sensitive to food changes and cleaning up cat puke is not high on my list of enjoyable activities. I should get at least 5 RPs and I'll probably have them by next Wednesday. I also have 4-5 of those duracells you wanted, so I'll send them out next week. Let me know if you're ISO anything else.

The only other coupon I could use would be a $.50/1 Dawn or $1/2 Dawn (depending on what you got in your 12/30 P&G)....but only if you know you wouldn't use them yourself. Ya, cat puke is no fun. Neither is doggie puke.

emhalf / murphath: If you need anything, make sure to post a HOUND ALERT and if I've got it, it's yours. Geez, I've got to stay out of CVS. I keep finding one great lotion deal after another. I went in to scan my card and something kept telling me to check out the lotion aisle. I found (3) 16 oz. bottles of Lubriderm for Men clearanced to $2.12 and I had $1/1 peelies making them $1.12/ea. (wiped out with EB). I had been eyeballing some large bottles of Carmex, but they were too high at 50%. I had printed some $1/1 just in case. They finally got marked down to 25% ($2 something), but they were gone. Can you guys ever remember a store having such great across the board lotion deals and clearance? Note to self: Do not go down the lotion aisle. Do not go down the lotion aisle. Do not go down the lotion aisle. ;D

Oh, I forgot to mention. When I went in today, the manager was there. She saw me, greeted me, and went to the register. She did not ask me anything, she just printed an EB and handed it to me. It was for a whopping $5 which did not even cover the amount I was still missing from the refund which was $6.37.
So I guess I was completely wrong. She talked a big game on the phone, but after my attempts to get a rain check yesterday and this today, I don't think I'm going to see much of a change.

CVS ?: I'm planning to try to finish up at CVS this week. I have a $4/20 CRT for facial skin care. Do you think I would be able to use it on Dove soap?

CVS clearance: For anyone interested, the Dial Nutri-Skin lotion with the GREEN writing, huge pump bottle, is 75% off at CVS. It is ringing up $1.74 AND there is still a $1.50/1 IP on coupons.com. I had 4 printed previously, and was able to print 2 more last night. The store I was in yesterday had a ton left, but most stores have been pretty wiped out of the clearance HBA.
Can you guys ever remember a store having such great across the board lotion deals and clearance? Clearance, yes. CVS does their HBA re-set in January every year. I always get tons of cheap/free stuff when combining clearance and coupons this time of year. It goes fast though. Luckily I have around 10 stores I can hit pretty easily. And I really love it when some stores don't put clearance tags on but I KNOW the stuff is clearanced. SCORE!

I did get the1/2 for the hand renewal but that stuff is greasy to begin with so why the heck would I use it to wash greasy dishes? Kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me. My CVS is really different I guess. The mgr is a neighbor whose kids I know and saw all the time, the pharmacist is a fellow band mom and we go to band event together all the time, as well as our kids being friends, just about every cashier is either a neighbor or a friend of my daughters. One of them is just the aunt of one of DS's friends. None of us wants to get into a position that would put everyone in an uncomfotable position. I would still see everyone almost daily. Maybe that is why but my CVS bends over backwards to treat people the way they would want to be treated. More often then not instead of rainchecks I get substitutions from them. I also though am thinking of getting out of the CVS game again. I just literally have too much stuff in this house and I REALLY don't want to be on an episode of hoarders! So what do I do, but switch to Staples.

emhalf / murphath: If you need anything, make sure to post a HOUND ALERT and if I've got it, it's yours. Do not go down the lotion aisle. ;D All I got from the P&G insert was a .20 cents off of 1 regular dawn. I did get the1/2 for the hand renewal but that stuff is greasy to begin with so why the heck would I use it to wash greasy dishes? Kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me. My CVS used to be the most coupon-friendly CVS imaginable, but that has all changed rather abruptly this year. They used to early activate, take expired EB/CRTs, do great substitutions when they were out of a sale product, and would even write me "paid for" rain checks when they were out of a cash card item and there were no rain checks for them. Now, all of that is gone and they simply do not like couponers....period. beachbum: Would you please post the upcoming Staples deals or refer me to a blog/site that lists them? I would have totally missed out on this week's deals if it wasn't for you and leanna's posts. I may try to play the Staples game since the customer service/friendliness at my store was excellent and I don't think I'm going to have to deal with "lack of stock" issues.

If I did not have the storage space that I do, I probably would have been out of CVS a long time ago or I would have had to come up with various alternatives for storage (under beds), totes stacked in a corner of the garage, etc. I like my stockpiles, but I wouldn't want to have to look at them.
