Looks like my wonderful DH may get notified in the spring of his "non-retention" since he's retirement eligible from the military. Which means that instead of staying in until May 2020, he may be out as of the end of 2017. Part of this is freaking me out, and part of this seems like a bit of a relief. Either way, we knew he'd have to be job hunting to figure out what job he may get ... but I do know this situation is making him pissed at the military. In some ways, I think having him pissed/mad may make leaving a bit easier ... but who knows? We're putting our trust in God and just seeing what comes.

Woman from Synod called and wanted to know the password for the church computer. I don't remember what it was. The building has been sold. It's going to be a day care center. New owners wanted to use the computer. I am glad that it's password protected. I told her the computer did not work very well anyway. The monitor works fine, but not the computer itself.
I hope they don't figure out a way to get on the computer. There is too much information on it and I asked to take the tower and the Synod said no. At least Quickbooks is also password protected if they get on the computer.
I did ask if Pastor was still a pastor. She said he was no longer employed by the Synod and changed the topic back to the password.

It's November 11 and it was 84 degrees today, which broke a record. Next week's forecast also has one day in the 80s. Summer sure dies slowly here, doesn't it? We've also got amazing bad air quality, too ... ugh.
One kitten adopted today at Petco ... it was a pretty quiet day for a holiday. I get to return tomorrow to play with more kittens! YAY!
Plastic bags are now illegal in California (you know, the kind from the grocery store) which we used to scoop poop with ... when our stash runs out, guess we will have to buy some sort of small plastic bag from Amazon. (Sorry, don't mean to get too political ... figured this was safe!)
Bought winter rye to overseed the grass ... will probably tackle that (and filling bird feeders) on Sunday.

I would hate it if plastic bags were outlawed here. There has been some discussion of it but so far it hasn't happened. I don't scoopable litter but use the clay type so I the boxes twice a week into my trusty double bagged plastic sack from the grocery store. Then there is Blackie my ultra senior kitty (16 yrs 7mths) who barfs all the time so I need plastic sacks for clean up duty for that.

I use scoopable litter and also use plastic bags (either newspaper or grocery store) for cat barf. I know Boulder passed the no bag law a few years ago. Since I don't live there, it hasn't affected me. Yes, I would have to buy plastic bags if stores couldn't use them. As it is now, I still get more than I use.

I found plastic bags for restaurants to use on Amazon ... thick plastic with handles .... so when my stash runs out, I'll be prepared!

TheOtherMe thinking of you and your family tomorrow. Prayers and good wishes being sent that your Dad's pacemaker procedure is successful. Thank you. My sister and niece have had quite the evening getting him ready. He didn't want to use a clean towel. The other one has only been used once. Like my sister said, the last thing we want is some kind of infection. He's too frail to handle it. He has all kinds of new clothes and his old clothes are gone. He doesn't know they are gone. Sister told him mom would be embarrassed by his clothes and cried. So he kept them. Mom always said he was a terrible patient, so we will see.

Thank you all so much. I'm off to the hospital. Going to be a long day. Hope by late afternoon/evening we are bringing him home.
Won't be easy for a 126 pound 92 year old man.
My sister said she had two meltdowns with him last night where she cried. She said she pulled the mom card once.
I'm scared for him.

Procedure was scheduled for noon and he didn't get taken until 2:15 PM. He was not a happy camper because he missed lunch. First thing he asked for when he was back in his room was food! Not a bad sign.
His blood pressure was high afterwards. They said it was during procedure but I know he was aggravated by the wait. As soon as he ate, he asked for his clothes. Not that fast. He had to wait until 6 PM to be given a second dose of antibiotics.
He goes back to doctor in a week and then a month. Hopefully all is well on both check ups.
Tomorrow, my sister is taking the morning off to go check on him and I am going over in the afternoon to check on him. Will be interesting to see how he is 24 hours after procedure.

Thanks for the update ~ wishing him a speedy recovery. ADULTING REPORT ~ Today, we're getting the Explorer (14 years old) worked on/repaired. And we're getting the hot tub (10 years old) worked on/repaired. I also paid some bills. Autumn has arrived. Looking at the 10-day forecast ... 2 days in the 70s, the rest in the 60s. Yay!

Need to talk to sister to see if she thinks he can go grocery shopping tomorrow. I don't want him to overdue and dad is exhausted.

Need to talk to sister to see if she thinks he can go grocery shopping tomorrow. I don't want him to overdue and dad is exhausted. You could always tell Dad that the doctor told me to not go shopping this week. It is likely that he is so tired that he won't fully remember if the doctor said that or not. Then you can take the opportunity to get some things in his apartment that he would use to extend his meals on wheels. My Grandpa loved those jarred cheeses and ritz crackers. If you got some of that and maybe even some summer sausage. Something that can just be grabbed and eaten with minimal preparation. At his age does it really matter if he decided to eat a bunch of Oreo's for dinner. It could be a chance to boost his caloric intake.

Jack the cat is grouchy .... I lured him onto the Catio this afternoon and he's been locked inside ever since. It's supposed to be 39 tonight and tomorrow night. Anyway, we'll let him out in the morning and I'm sure he won't let me do the same tomorrow night. Oh well, I will sleep better tonight knowing he's safe and has access to warms. (This is the neighbor's cat who officially becomes ours when they move ... we've been doing this same thing for the past 2 winters ... this will be winter #3)

When Jack realizes just how cold it is and that he could be sleeping on a nice warm chair he might be more cooperative. I braved the grocery store and did a huge shopping today, $103.19. I did get the Turkey for Christmas since they are on sale now and they never are at Christmas time. We have too many people to serve prime rib. I would like to have ham but I have a niece who was recently diagnosed with severe high blood pressure and cardiac failure, she is on a low sodium diet. I know she can't have any of that good smoked ham so turkey it is. Thanksgiving will be at my Mom's but I will be taking a couple of side dishes. Hopefully I can avoid the store next week when the big rush is on or it will be just to pop in for 1 or 2 items.

Sister said last night to take him on his errands so I did. He did buy two extra boxed meals. Didn't want anything frozen.
He has become addicted to m & m's. Started out in the spring buying 1 package every other week, then it went to a package a week. Now, some weeks he buys 2 packages.
He wasn't happy that I insisted on carrying his groceries inside for him. He can do it himself. Well, he bought 4 pounds of sugar, oatmeal and milk. No, he wasn't carrying that by himself.
Sister and niece were going over tonight to change the bandages. Niece is doing a great job for her grandpa. She knows she is his "honey". That is what was on his retirement cake.
My sister said her oldest son has made his bed because of not coming to mom's funeral and his refusal to see dad. Not sure what his punishment is.

I have not felt at all well for the last 10 days or so. Decided I have no business going to Colorado so I canceled everything. If I get to feeling better, I have some credit left on the air. Hotels and car were canceled so it's money I didn't spend.
I'm weak. When I shower, I feel like I'm going to faint. Very similar to the way I felt for 3 weeks in May. Not getting on a plane and being at a hotel when I feel like this.
Lucy wants to knead my stomach and I absolutely do not want her doing that. She is sleeping beside me now.

I hope you feel better, Theo. Jack let me pet him this afternoon in the backyard ... yay! And he came into the Catio tonight around 6:30pm for some canned food. It's another cold night, so he will be on the Catio until bed time, then inside. Going to be 40 tonight. We'll let him lose (again) in the morning. Tomorrow is a Petco day and that means KITTENS!

Please get yourself a shower chair if you don't have one already. You don't want to pass out and hit your head on the tub or tile. Have you had your blood pressure checked? The fire fire station can check your blood pressure at no charge.

I didn't know all fire stations did that. I have a yearly conference in Baltimore and I park near a fire station. They have a big sign on the building about free blood pressure checks.

Guess I should get a shower chair. Somewhere I have my grandma's shower chair.
We have a volunteer fire department so no schedule on when anybody is there.
I know I have low blood pressure. However, I have had very little to eat for the last 10 days and that is why I am feeling so weak.
Just had a bit of soup so we will see how that works. The way I felt this morning, I don't think I could drive and I am supposed to take dad to lunch tomorrow. My sister will not be happy if I can't do it and my dad will not be happy because I am not eating the greasy food there. I can't eat the ice cream because I am lactose intolerant.

Try drinking some broth. Do you have any chicken or veggie broth? if not, do you have any squash or tomato soup? i would let your sister and Dad know today that you're not feeling well. Better to cancel now than get in a car wreck tomorrow. hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. My sister is not very understanding when I am ill.
I do have some tomato soup. I am veggie. I wish I had veggie broth on hand.
The soup I had earlier was in chicken broth. I did not like the taste of it.
I did order a shower chair from Amazon.

Just sent sister a text. Waiting for angry response.
Her response was that she would take him. She asked if I was still going to a concert I have tickets for tomorrow night and I told her no that I am sick.
