Now I'm glad I have girls, and DH has a phobia.... okay not really but he hates, hates using public restrooms. But mostly we go out together so the girls go with me.

I've been in countless men's bathrooms... When I was little, my dad would just poke his head in the room and make sure no one was at the urinals, then he'd lead me in and let me go in the stall myself. If someone came in the urinal, he'd just tell me to wait before I could come out of the stall--no big deal. Even now, there is only a Men's bathroom on the main floor at work. When the elevator is broken down, I'll use that one instead of going up five flights of stairs just to get to the bathroom (because when you really need to go, those stair suck). I just yell "hello" before I walk in. As for DS, I think I let him go in the men's bathroom alone when he was about 5 (looked years older). There were a couple times when it took him a REALLY LONG time and I might have to yell in there to make sure everything was ok, but for the most part it was fine. Funniest thing to happen was when we were at Costco and I let him walk in by himself. The women's bathroom has two doors, only one is marked. The men's is next to it. He was about 7 or so, and walked right in. Into the women's. There was a guy who followed him right in and came right back out completely embarrassed. I was standing there watching and just started laughing--he tried to explain he saw a boy walk in so he thought it was the men's. Told him yeah, that was my son, he went in the wrong one...

LOL! Just put a tracking device on the little buggers, use the restroom in peace, and track them down after. There must be an app for that. We also do the "Marco/Polo" thing when we get separated. The 3 year old doesn't have it down but the 4.5 year old does. My "record" at this point is 3 non-related adult voices answering "Polo" at Target a few months ago. I could probably leave my 4.5 year old by a cart for 2-3 minutes. She'd be scared but she'd stay there probably 98% of the time. It's a work in progress.

My kids respond to "you'd better get your ass over here right now!" pretty quickly.

I also text DH "Marco" when I'm looking for him. It's shorthand for "where are you?"
He is often an ass and will text back "Polo."

It isn't so much that I worry what the girls might see in the men's room, as others have covered there are ways of checking to see if anyone is in there, asking them to stay in the stall until someone leaves, ect.... it is after managing a restaurant, I worry about what they may step in when getting to the stalls.
