LOL - I feel the same way about dairy - I'd wear depends every day before I give up my cheese. ETA: Again - the weirdest posts always end up on the top of the page.

My brother wet the bed when he was a kid. What helped him was wearing some type of underwear at night that had a wetness sensor to wake him up (along with everyone else in the house ) so he could go to the bathroom. One of my neighbor's has an issue with her 10 year and was still working on it last I heard. FWIW, I may have resolved as I last her about 5 months ago and haven't asked her since.

If your child goes to bed early - let's say 8 pm, can a parent sleep walk the child to the bathroom at say 10 pm? Maybe that would give enough relief to get through the morning? My son would sleep walk himself to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and go right back to sleep. My daughter would wake up, and not really go back to sleep - so much tougher with her.

That was my dilemna too. Except more accurately, I was asleep on the couch at 8, and the kids went to bed at 8:30.

I think he makes it most of the night. It's just that last hour or so. If he wakes up at 6:30 or so, it's dry. If he sleeps in until 7:30 or so, it's usually wet.
I was doing ok with waking him up at 6am or so, but that was also when the baby was waking up consistently at 6am. Now the baby wakes up sporadically and unpredicatably, so I'll admit it's hard to drag my butt out of bed yet again at 6am if I don't have to.
He does insist on sleeping in underwear because it think it helps him keep the bed dry.

Yes, but a 11 pm visit to the potty makes the time between the last pee and morning shorter, so that 6:30 - 7:30 time frame won't be the danger zone anymore.

If I remove cheese from her diet, she'd probably cut me, lol. I'll see what i can do. I hear you on that one Swamp. We go though a 24 pack of cheese sticks a week.

We only go through 12 cheese sticks a week - but that 2 lb block of cheddar appears to be on the grocery list every week.

My son loves Blu Cheese - is that normal for a 7 year old? He is a weird eater, and I'm pretty sure he is going to grow up to be a foodie.

I can't say Thyme. My 4.5 year old has decided she'll only eat cheddar and she prefers sharp cheddar. Kids are weird.

I have a cousin that's adopted from Russia. His first thanksgiving with his family here my dad got him to eat the turkey heart. Apparently at school his teacher asked him how his first Thanksgiving was and that was his reponse - 'they made me eat the heart.' I guess the next parent teacher conference was a little awkward.

At the beginning of this school year my 4.5 year DS would complain that one kid was mean, then the next day they are BFF's. I asked the teacher about it and there is a group of 4 and if one is gone and there are only 3 one ends up being the odd person out. Plus they are the big kids at school and she says they were jockeying for position of the leader after the previous group left in September. It has settled down that they pecking list has established. Oh yeah he also kissed a girl at the Thanksgiving dinner at his school. OMG! I'm not ready for that yet! It was funny the other girl comes running up to tell me. So I turned around and they were trading kisses on the cheek. Thanks for starting this thread I don't always share stuff about DS on the other thread.

I tell Avery pork chops are chicken. Today I got her to eat sweet potatoes by telling her they were candy, which they sort of are. I'm not above lying.

TBear wet the bed for quite some time- she outgrew it after she started her period. But I noticed that she also did better after my ex-SIL and her second husband split up. If she wet the bed at our place it was no big deal. I went and got a couple of plastic sheets. I put them on the beds where both of the girls were sleeping and told ZBear that they both had to use them in case they were on "bunny rabbit time" and didn't know it (I did not want to have the puberty talk with her at that moment and they referred to pads as bunny rabbits. It made ZBear feel grown up and she didn't ask questions and it made Tbear feel better about the bed wetting problem. We also had the girls wear pull ups for as long as possible.
They make pullups in tween sizes if you have a kid with a bladder issue- you can order them from your local home health place.
We usually stopped TBear's drinks an hour before bed and no caffeinated drinks. If she did need something closer to bed, we went with milk. I don't know the science, but she didn't have as much problem with wetting the bed.

I think "mean" can have a lot of different definitions. So, obviously, you want to find out exactly what she means by that. Sometimes kids will think someone is "mean" if someone doesn't play with them, was busy doing something else and they felt slighted and so forth. And, i tried to teach my kids that not everyone is going to like or want to play with you. And, not everyone is going to say and do things you like. So, sometimes feeling slighted feels 'mean" to them but it might not really be an issue of bullying or anything like but of just teaching your child how to cope with that type of thing.

As for bedwetters, i probably wouldn't worry much about it if they were still pretty young. I would just do the pullups. I think some kids sleep so deeply so they just dont' wake up to go. If it is an older child or something that wasn't happening and then started happening, i would discuss it with my pediatrician just to rule out any urinary infection. Also, talk to the kid to see if there are any changes in life that might be stressful as well.

I felt like the world's worst mom the other night. Usually once DS is in bed, he stays there for the night. So after we put DS in bed, we went out to the attached garage so DH & I could make sure that the spare on my new car was the right size (I dated a guy who found out on a date with me his was not). About 10 mins after we get out there I hear wailing from inside the house. DS had gotten up because his tummy hurt and couldn't find us. He was standing in the middle of the kitchen sobbing. Once I picked him up he was not letting go at all. I swear I held and rocked him for 15 mins before he calmed down.

Poor DS dakota! I'm sure it was scary for him to not be able to find you but at least you heard him pretty quick.

So Avery had totally regressed on her potty training progress. All of last weekend she was refusing to go on the potty and kept peeing in her Pull Ups to the point where I had to put diapers back on her. Whenever we would try to get her to go to the potty she would said, "No thank you."
Then Thursday night she started going again, like someone flipped a switch in her. Today she asked to wear her Minnie Mouse underwear which are real underwear. I told her she could but she absolutely had to go on the potty. She did really good. No accidents. I'm at work now, so I'll have to check in with my MIL to see how things are going later.

Yay for Avery!
Cabe's been wetting the bed just about everynight. I've been trying to use up the last of the diapers/pullups before buying more. If they don't have the 4T/5T sized overnight pullups, I'll get the older kid ones.
Thanksgiving went ok. The GF stuffing was ok, my gravy was a fail. But it was perfect for turkey pot pie on Sat. night...

Sorry about your gravy Beth. I had a lot of hit or miss years on the gravy until I took one of those adult night classes on sauce making. After spending 2 hours with a chef watching him make various sauces (cheese sauce, white sauce, stir fry sauce) I finally figured out how to get the roux and stuff down so it turns out pretty well. Not a bad way to spend $45.
DS has been asking for 2 days now if he can have a yard sale to get rid of all his toys because he wants new ones. WTF? Christmas is coming up, so he doesn't have to wait long but I don't understand this - why is he suddenly tired of all his toys? I hope he doesn't get sick of Legos because I already ordered his Christmas gifts from Amazon and they are mostly Legos.

Sweet! Take him up on this - or at least get rid of some stuff. Getting my kids to let go of toys is painful, and our house is bursting at the seams. I think next week I am going to suggest they clear out some space - just in case Christmas comes.
