What DO you do with a spouse who babytalking to you during daylight? Does it drive anyone crazy as it does to me like....I can scream from pain its giving me. It drilles down my brain! It makes me feel stupid and 3 years old and like if he was my...grandmother! And he is NOT!
And yes...we've talked...and I've explained...about 200 times for 20 years...and he still doing IT!!!
WHY do they do this whoever they are???

My knee-jerk reaction would be to punch DH in the throat if he used baby talk while speaking to me. And then I'd have him committed because it would be EXTREMELY out of character for him.

No different to me than whining. I used to say that mommas ears can't hear what you're saying with THAT voice.

Sorry to say, but if he's been doing it for 20 years, and you've been yelling at him about it for 20 years, he's probably not inclined to change anytime soon.

Yes Beerie...6feet2inch man of 56 with nothing girly about him shouldn't be doing it!!! I would punch him except I can't...what if he cries?...OMG! Then I will have to babytalk to him...YUCK!

I'd sit down calmly and discuss it with my husband. However, my husband is totally reasonable and rational, and will often respond to my needs to make me happy. I know that isn't necessarily the case with all men.

I would only say it once and then walk away. Because I didn't baby talk to my kids they never did. They, of course, mispronounced words, sometimes to my great embarrassment but then again, I did it to my parents as well. I mean, really, who would think that PRIX had a silent X ?

I didn't know having a rational discussion with your husband was so disdainful.

Its the way you always representing your coupleness...its like...not normal. Its so boring and perfect and out of touch with reality. Just odd.

Yes, I realize that more than 50% of marriages are not happy. And I feel sorry for those people.

Yes, I realize that more than 50% of marriages are not happy. And I feel sorry for those people. No! 50% marriages are ending aka divorce. Out of 50% that don't want to divorce - 90% are unhappy. 10% are delirious...and in denial. Like you. 90% I had mentione above are actually happy but do not realize it until they lost a spouse...so those are healthy bunch with fights and makeuping, separations and getbacktoghetherness...but you wouldn't know. You are in 10%. But we werent talking about you...

I respectfully disagree with your unsubstantiated numbers.

Oh, goodness, I'll have to tell all my happily married friends that they are actually unhappy. They may not be aware of this.

Thyme! 50% marriages end in divorce and your link says bull like 'most marriages are happy'...
Lets leave it at that and move back to baby talk... (I find it very unlikely that your husband is completely happy considering how...persistent you are in little things...I can imagine you wouldn't take no for an answer if its not your way in marriage as well...)

No, he does not. It just isn't his thing.
Although, he did talk to our babies much the same way as he speaks to me - so maybe he does treat me with the same affection. It just wouldn't be recognizable to others as "baby-talk."
