My juicer! It seemed like a good idea (healthy). And yet, there it sits...

We paid $450 for a custom built corner TV stand/entertainment center. It was built with a large enough base for a very wide tube TV we have. We rarely watch TV in that room, and when we replace the tube TV with an LCD or LED the stand is going to look awkward.

probably half a dozen or more exercise machines/gizmos. Some have since been sold at yard sales. Several are just sitting (ignored) in the basement.

Surprisingly, my toaster! Hubby and I lived together for the past 6.5 years without a toaster, and then I decided I wanted one, so Hubby got me one for Christmas...Well Christmas was over a month ago, and I've only used the thing once! Also, our surround-sound system. We bought it over a year ago, only to get it home and realize we don't really have anywhere to properly set it up (because of the layout of our living room). We decided to keep it in the box until we move to a new place, then we'll set it up there. Well, life has happened since then, and it looks like we won't be moving for another year or two at least, so the damned thing is going to be obsolete by the time we take it out of the box!

I asked for a gaming mouse for Christmas. For the last month every time I sit down to set it up I get too intimidated and frustrated to program all the buttons. It is sitting next to me right now covered in dust and my husband keeps asking me when am I going to start using it.

The WII - well we do use it to stream Netflix, but the fitness program was a waste of money.

I think juicing can sometimes do more damage than good. You might be drinking healthy stuff - but drinking your calories often leads to overconsumption and a lack of satisfaction with how full you feel.
I've bought several pairs of shoes that end up not fitting just right. One I thought would "break in" but nope - still gives me blisters. A couple I thought would fit, but they are big after wearing them for a few hours, so they slide around. I bet I have wasted about $500 in the past 2 years buying shoes that I just don't like wearing.
I bought a winter coat, and it isn't waterproof, so I rarely use it. I'm not sure what to do with it. I just gave away 2 other coats - so maybe next winter I'll that one, too.
Serving bowls that are plastic that can't go through the dishwasher. They were really cheap - but I also store them away because I don't want to wash them, and then I forgot about them, so I never pull them out when it would actually be a good idea.

Several "As Seen on TV" gadgets and gizmos.
The ones that come to mind: * The pasta cooker in the plastic tube. Well, it takes just as long b/c you have to put hot water in it and then it's hard to handle b/c it's so hot. * The electric ab pulser thing
That's all the ones I can think of right now, but I know there are more...too many more

I bought the Eggstractor several years ago. Never worked, I guess that doesn't count because I threw it out a long time ago.
How about the sewing machine?

I bought a 5 pound bag of abelskiver mix.
I haven't yet figured out what abelskiver is. I suppose there is always Google, but that's not very challenging.

Name items you have purchased that "seemed like a good idea at the time" but no longer use and are now taking up space. I'll start: And Snerdley's item is?

Shrimp deveiner and peeler. It's a pain to clean and doesn't work on jumbo sized shrimp. It is collecting dust in the basement.

Our hot tub. When we use it in the wintertime, it INCREASES our electricity bill about $300 per month. Yikes! So it's drained and turned off.

We used to have a salad spinner. We used it maybe three times in the five years or something that it was hogging cabinet space. I finally donated it (with DH's blessing) a couple of years ago. Three days ago, DH was making salad for dinner and rinsing the bagged spring mix (why he does that, I don't know - I think it's fine straight out of the bag). He said "we need a salad spinner." I wanted to put my head through a wall.

I always tend to buy clothes that I don't really like. Not sure what happens to my mind between the fitting room and home, but I have done this over and over again. I often forget to return them, so it's just money wasted.

They are puffy little pastries that you can stuff with just about anything (savory or sweet!) It has a pancakey taste.
Williams Sonoma sells a pan specifically for them - I think it is about $35 - which makes it the cheapest thing in Williams Sonoma - but we gave one to my impossible-to-buy-for brother-in-law one Christmas and he loves it. I guess every New Year's eve they make dozens of these things and snack all night.

Before I went on a business trip, probably mid-90s, I bought a nice suitcase (garment bag) so my suits would not get wrinkled. At that time, wheels were not common on suitcases, and the suitcase was too heavy. After one trip, the suitcase went down to the basement, never to be seen again. Gee, I wish I had never bought it!

DH has pondered opening his own specialty book store many times over the years. A few years ago, a local book store was going out of business, so we bought a lot of their fixtures - numerous shelves and 2 glass display cases. DH has never opened the book store. Some of the shelves are in use in our garage and basement, others have been broken down/destroyed and put out in the trash. The 2 glass display cases mostly sit in our basement and take up space. We should probably try listing them on craigslist again.

An electric food steamer and steamer cookbook. And a lot of other stuff which explains why my house currently looks as if it's throwing up and I'm set to haul a lot of bags and boxes to Salvation Army as soon as our winter storm lets up.

Hubby's deceased wife was a shop-o-holic and we have a lot of things I would love to donate somewhere. Blender, food processor, mini-blender, that I can think of right now.
When we downsized and moved 3 years ago I went through a 3K sq ft basement and did a lot of donating. I took 42 bankers boxes full of books to the local library for their sale. Two PU loads of kids things to the local kids-at-risk shop.
I have some clothing I scratch my head about, and I'm a sucker for Christmas stuff.
