It's Halloween time and that means midnight showings of Rocky Horror.
Anyone been to one?

I love them with the shadow cast! There's a troop in my town that does them year round - 2nd and 4th weekend of every month. During Oct they have more performances. I haven't been in a while though.

Never seen it. Live or the movie. I know...it's like I just killed a puppy or something. Seems like we do have the movie somewhere...maybe I will pop it in....when I have a couple of hours to myself and I don't just pass out.

When I was in high school we went to the stage production. I didn't dress up but my friends did.
It was awesome.

I haven't done RHPS since High School. My husband once told me it was a stupid movie. Why yes, yes it is - but that isn't the point. Then I figured out he RENTED it. So...I don't think he understands the full experience.

But stupid movies are the best. I watch movies to be entertained, not to have some deep meaninful or emotional experience.

I went to a few midnight shows but we never dressed up, just hollered at the screen like imbeciles. Thyme's husband is right of course, it is stupid....but she's right too, that's not the point. It's fun to go act like a moron amongst a group of other morons every once in a while. It's convivial.

Alas, I am a Virgin. I do know all the songs, what to do at points in the movie, and most of the script though... I had friends way back when in the late 70's early 80's (High School and College) who did get to go to the showings. I was not allowed and there was no easy way to sneak out of the house (I had a curfew of 11:00pm). And the sheer neverending hell of what coming home late would entail was not worth risking for something that I thought might not be worth it. I did rent the movie (in my 30s) and did watch it. I suspect that it would be a HUGE amount of fun to see it with a bunch of other people at a movie theater - especially if you were a bit prepared with props and were a tiny bit familiar with the script/songs. I was (and still am) nerdy/geeky so, one of the few things I do regret is not seeing/experiencing this when I was younger.

make sure you know what to say and when to say it. Make sure to bring props like toast and rice.

I went in college and had great time! People had bottles of water that they poured on each other when it rained in the movie. Most everyone sang along and danced during the movie. It was riot. Now that I think back the entire month of Oct. was a riot that year though.

And this would be every fourth week??!? Back in our day, yes. Now they've got all sorts of new-fangled stuff. I don't think you have to sober up very often anymore.

Back in the 80s we went a few times. We did not dress up. We had to go to Georgetown to see it & we weren't allowed to go into DC so if we dressed up our parents would have asked questions. I guess we could have snuck the clothes & dress later but we were taking a big enough risk already. We had a blast.
