Would it work to say that starting next week you'll be working from home either Tuesdays or Wednesdays or both, depending on the week?
The way next Tuesday sounds, Wednesday might be a better bet LOL.
But well done for laying all that out Swamp! And good to know that your partner will be leaving in two years instead of never.

OK, trial is done, he pled.
It was a really drama filled two days. Law and Order storyline worthy, even.
I need a nap.

You should go back to law school, Swamp. I read that there are people just DESPERATE to get in. You could do a post-doc law degree from home. Barrels of fun. You already have two little kids. Just call DH and tell him you know you can pass the LSAT and that you've been studying for it..... I'm sure University of Phoenix could accomodate you. It's a plan.

I don't have any suggestions, just sympathy.
I'm also the responsible wife, responsible employee, responsible daughter, responsible daughter in law, responsible mom. I think almost every day about quitting my job, selling everything we own and running away to be beach bums in some cheap Mexican resort.

swamp, is there any way you can maybe transition to teaching law classes? Or maybe this is a good time to strike out on your own so you can make your own hours a little bit better...?

I applied for a teaching position at a college, but didn't get it. Setting up my own office won't do it because it's the same stressors, different, place, and more of them because I have to hire support staff and train them. I talked to a law clerk today who is the heir apparent when his judge retires next year. I told him I want to be his clerk. He said "we can talk."

He didn't say "Absolutely Not, Get Outta My Office." So, it looks like you have a chance. I just had an opportunity to cut my hours by 20 - 25%, and I'm jumping on it. I don't care about the loss of income. I just want more freedom and less pressure.
