That is your reward for hard work, gd. I don't have children and I never will, but I know how much work it took to raise me. I don't think there can be much that is better for the heart and sould than to see your children thrive.

Hi GEL, Something about guts in a drawer just makes me giggle. One of my personal triggers for uncontrollable unreasonable giggling is cartoon kids swearing (South Park movie). No, I'm not proud of that.

Enjoy them when they are young Yep. That's the plan and actually why I chose to leave my last two companies. Travel becoming a requirement was one of the main reasons.

But I still get a slight pang whenever I ask one of them if they want help with something and they say 'no, I'm good'.

I need to talk with my wife about candy. She always buys it early for Halloween to get it cheaper. But we end up eating so much of it before the 31st that she has to buy more. I don't think we're doing it right. Noo! You're doing it right! Candy is for eating! You don't want the little kids at the door to have to fight you for the treat! OK. Just don't let the YM folks know.

Why yes ... yes I do.
Shouldn't everybody have a planned retirement date? or year? or at least +/- a year?

Shouldn't everybody have a planned retirement date? or year? or at least +/- a year? I think so. Ours is more of a 'when income stream hits x' goal though. Now we set that goal for a certain year end. Happy to report that it's currently 12 months sooner than we had originally planned. My current countdown is at 74.25 months or so.

As long as the markets don't run away faster than the dividends rise, the plan should work. Couple years from now and I'll have some solid details and support to work with, but so far so good.

I first watched that movie when I was six years old.
It scared me half to death. For a six-year-old, it has some incredibly dark and frightening themes.

I've actually got my sights set on sometime in 2015 ... but 2013 is doable.
I also figured my retirement goal based on an income stream ... or rather, income plus a nice cushion that will continue to be invested.

I hear you about the income streams Steady. Looking at approx 2042-2045 for our retirement... However, I might just end up working by choice 'til I die like my Grandpa did... ;D
