If you need to supplement your new income, I know a place where you could dance on weeknights. In a feather bikini. OH you should TOTALLY do this Dark! You would totally ROCK a feather bikini! With body glitter/sparkles?

A feather bikini??? Sounds... itchy.
The flattery is appreciated, but I'm still keeping an eye on you woman. Somehow this is a ploy to steal my wife. It's Goose isn't it? Does he have a thing for feather bikinis? You trying to interest him in a trade?

If you get a job offer with a huge salary increase tomorrow, what can Thursday do with your ass? I think the CoC means he can't tell us...

Maybe it's just that I'm not considering all the possible benefits, but I can't think of anything less fun than an entire harem of women. I like my girlfriends, but living together with a bunch of women? No thanks. Sounds loud and expensive.

So, the recruiter for the new company contacted me today. This was her follow up email:
That's a good sign.
During the middle of the phone call she mentioned she asked my current salary point blank. I hate being the first person to throw out a number. I'm hopeful but nervous.

One thing I learned in my negotiations class is that it's actually good to be the first person to throw out a number, as long as you know the range you're looking at. By being the one to set the number, you set the first down marker. The only problem is when you don't have a good idea of the range, and then you accidentally set the marker somewhere out of the stadium. In your case, though, I'm guessing that they could get your actual salary from your current company via some sort of taking over the contract gov't regulations. So giving them the number yourself just shows you as cooperative, which is good

I was thinking the same thing. I don't know if my current company would disclose my exact salary, but they'll definitely get my billable rate from the government. I know that my company was making a profit on every hour I worked and billed to the agency, so my current salary should be in the ballpark for the new company as well. I hope.

VA isn't bad, actually I think it is pretty great. There is a lot you, loop and the girls would love. It has the ocean and the mountains, Williamsburg, Jamestown, the civil war history, caverns, ummmm seasons, everything in Washington, imagine how politically active loop could become, and hey they even pay people out here to do it. I could see loop as a lobbyist. I think it has a lower cost of living too.

I don't understand, if all the staff is the same what makes the bids different? And why doesn't the government hire you directly and cut out the middleman? Supposedly it's cheaper, you know, business supposedly being more efficient and all. It rarely works out that way though. Study after study usually shows it's cheaper for the government to do it in house. Contracting makes sense if it's a one time project or a in the short term, like the government needs something done for 6 months or a year. But not for year after year for decades. Welcome to the world of fat government contracts.

This is exactly why I work for the government and not a government contractor.
However, usually in my experience talking with government contractors, the everything stays the same and the only difference ends up being the name of the company on your paycheck.

If you mooved to VA, Loop wouldn't have to content herself with local elections, she could go all the way to the top Imagine being the first gentlemen.

I like the idea of moving to Italy and making Angel part of the family You should move to Italy too! I think Kitteh wants to cuddle with me and take long naps! Ever since I've been on maternity leave, I've been catching up on sleep (the last few weeks before that were hellishly busy). Kitty is so excited to have a nap buddy.

Perhaps you should just look at creating a commune there in Italy. With enough people, you could probably afford somewhere really nice. And, that would solve Firebird's question about choosing where to live- obviously you choose the commune in Italy. How can anyone argue with that logic.
