Whoa there. First, Italy does sound super awesome, and both of us are jealous reading about your adventures over there.
Second, I promised my kids when we bought the house that we won't be moving anymore. A big part of the reason I wanted to get out of the military was to settle down somewhere and give my kids some stability. I know quite a few military brats, and even though none of them will admit it, they're all pretty screwed up from moving all the time. Hardly any of them are able to maintain normal relationships as adults. Their entire life they viewed friends and romantic partners as temporary, because they were always going to be leaving in a couple years.
We chose this area because there are plenty of jobs here. I'm not leaving until I've spent some time looking for something that doesn't involve a move.

Hy Husband is born in C A. and country side of V A is beautiful and tax is low compare to C A. Many people is moving out of C A. Because of lousy school and high tax. Do some research, before you two make up your mind. We like it here, it's O K place to raise your family. Think about how much money you will save. Just for the schooling of your children.

Yeah,...the military life has screwed my kids up a little bit (yes I blame it on the military..it has NOTHING to do with having me as a mother...I am AWESOME ). My poor 16 year old has the worst time dealing with it. I hope I don't have to pay for years of therapy for him.

OMG! I agree with Loony! Me too. I do have the perspective though of someone who was laid off and thought we would have no problem getting a new job in my area for about what I was making. Man was I wrong! I still regret not taking the offer the company made me even if it was just to use it while I found one I wanted. Not to bring anyone down. It is just what happened to me.

I'm not jobless, not yet. I still have a paycheck coming in for another couple months. After that we've got about $50k in the EF, then we have another $90k in retirement money we could tap if we had too.
I'm nowhere near needing to take any job no matter what.
This is me we're talking about. I'm friggin awesome! I'm going to find another job. I'm shooting for a raise out of the whole thing, not settling for the first shit offer that comes along.

Yes, you are awesome. I wouldn't jump to any major changes until you at least know you no longer have a job either unless it's an offer you just can't refuse. But it is good that you are checking out all options for worst case scenario. Since you've been so bored at work lately I do hope there will be some kind of change that makes you happier and/or more excited instead of the same ole same ole. More money would be good too.

You are on YM. Don't you know you are supposed to go work at Target during the day and 7 Eleven at night. Under no circumstances should you take unemployment either. You should settle for whatever shit job comes along and look elsewhere and go on interviews when you get home at 8PM. Haven't you learned anything

No. Honestly, we probably wouldn't even touch the EF before we considered moving. I'm not going to apply for jobs out of state, or overseas, before I've even looked locally though.

Well, I don't know what company you worked for, but I do know of one govt contractor that is doing pretty good and I am pretty sure they have offices in CA.....so you might be able to get something pretty soon....

...:::"The job is in Virginia though, so I'll be declining.":::...
You might very well end up near me. We can go bowling and watch anime.
I have to wonder how much productivity this new company thinks its going to get out of people who have just been laid off...
So Dark, if the new contractor gives you an offer, but at a pay cut, will you take it? At the very least, you'd have a job and could keep looking.

I'd prefer billiards to bowling.
Probably. It'll depend on how big the pay cut is, and whether I can find something else locally before they send us offer letters.

If you need to supplement your new income, I know a place where you could dance on weeknights. In a feather bikini.
