I quit buying newspapers because it isn't cost effective for me anymore I do print coupons as needed but that's about it. I have like 50 razors so I should be ok for those for a while...mostly the toilet paper and mascara I am getting worried about lol

One question - in my quest to get as many possible $$$ as I can, I have tried some standard tricks - couponing, rebates, coke rewards, making craft items to see or give, garage sales, etc. Lately I keep seeing offers on my receipts to do surveys of that companies' service (usually fast food! I know, Bad Hitenney!) but sometimes Home Depot or Safeway in the hopes of winning a prize. Does anybody think these are worth the time they take? Hi hitenney!! Glad to see you post. Aloha

Dancin: I used a raincheck with the Venus and got my ECBs for that and then I used it today to buy 2 more razors and got the $10.00 ECBs. I think it's also counting for the beauty rewards too because I haven't been buying anything at CVS in a long time, but now I'm back in with $10.00 to spend. I'm going to finish up my Wags giftcard on stamps, Windex and a few canned items. I don't see myself shopping there especially with their changes. Really, the only thing that has been keeping me "in the game" are rain checks. If I didn't have so many, I think I would have been sitting on the sidelines a long time ago. This is the time of year that I am always tempted to just cash out. I sure wish I knew what the Black Friday ad looked like. That's what I'm really trying to hold out for.

Hi all; I've also been laying pretty low w/coupon shopping. Seems like a lot of the time, even with the coupon, the generic is still cheaper for me. But I do try to search out the best deals from the supermarket flyers, and my pantry seems to be quite full, so I'm going to try to use those things before they expire. I get really mad at myself when I throw away expired food. I'm with you, beachbum, and have gotten back on the rebate train. I tried to make a note of the states which are NBPR states (stands for no beer purchase required), but it does vary according to the offers. Anyway, if you live in AL, AR, CT, HI, KS, KY, MA, ME, MN, MO, MS, NC, NY, UT or WV, you should really check these out. You can get them on ebay, as they generally don't distribute them in the NBPR states. I will talk to friends and relatives to see if they want, and then get multiples to keep the price down, and share the wealth. Frugalsuz's website shows the rebates she got last month. It kills me how many offers are only for KY, NC & VA - my sister lives in VA but she will not even consider these. Cannot believe that they will send her a check for mailing in a receipt. Oh, well. twinmama - I think of you often, and hope things are going well. Change is so difficult. Also, I hope you take advantage of every benefit the military offers to troops going through a bad patch. I know the Navy has the Navy Relief, not only for emergencies, but also with advice and support navigating legal and fiscal challenges. I'm pretty sure you are not in the Navy, but whatever branch you are should have something similar. And we're here, giving cyber support! You are inspiring me to get the bread machine out - that loaf looked pretty darn good! Aloha! Don't forget NJ. ;D

Well, I decided to brave the waters and post for the very first time on Slick Deals and the very first response was rude. I posted, "Shouldn't the CAT deal on the Cottonelle TP and wipes be included in the monthly deals?" Here's what I got back from from frugalshoppers: "Shouldn't first posts be contributions instead of criticism." And here is my response from this morning: "It was a question, not a criticism. My question led to an update to the wiki; I'd consider that a contribution. Are you all rude here or is it just a handful that gives this site such a bad reputation? Thanks for the warm welcome. (insert hand waving goodbye here)" I guess I won't be posting there again. A few people were having trouble with the deal and when I didn't see it on Slick Deals list of monthly deals for WAGs (all-knowing as they are supposed to be), I posted the question to get verification and to make sure I'd be able to do it later in the month. I should have known better.

Dancinmama: Thanks for the heads up on the Centrum flavor burst $5 CRT info. I went to CVS is get mine and use the $2 q you linked (my $2.75 gummie vitamin q is for Naturemade, not Centrum. ). There was only 1 60 ct left so I was very lucky. I also got a CRT for a free sample size of Clear shampoo so I grabbed that, as well as the razor scenario you laid out. My total OOP was $3.04 which was mostly tax. I got the $10 shaver EBs and a $1 green tag EB. I also hit RA and did the Gilette Mach 3, Gillette Venus razor deal, the Lysol Power & free cleaners, 4 Trident layers gum, and 2 pairs of organic No Nonsense socks. My total OOP was $6.40 but got back $15 in UPs. Used the $4 Venus q Free Mach 3 wyb Gilette razor system $1/2 Lysol cleaners $3/2 Lysol RA VV q .25 Trident layer VV q 2/BOGOF Triden layer q $8 UPs due to expire Saturday

murphath: Glad you got in on the deal. I read that the IP isn't printing anymore, but that there will be a $2/1 insert coupon coming out so if you want to stockpile, get rain checks and keep collecting those CRTs.

I probably would have done the razor deal first. Then used one of the $4 UPs to get the Lysol products, gum and socks. The Venus razor was $9.99 (they are $12.29 at CVS!). Had the q for the free Mach 3 so only tax there. the $4 q would have made it $5.99. I'd have used a $4 and $1 UP so would have paid .99 + tax--@ $1.80 total I would guess.
I contacted RA and my UPs from now on will print out. The ones from yesterday are on my card.

They were only in the major metro paper and I had (4) sets which is VERY unusual. Are you aware that they expire 9/19? Please PM me your addie and anything else you might be looking for and I'll get them right out to you.

The fact that UPs are now tied to a card is completely understandable; but the fact that you can't use them right away is really bad. I'm wondering if it has to do with shelf clearers and the fact that they don't tend to stock sale items as well as the other two chains (at my store anyway). It's certainly a way to deal with that.

I suspect I will NOT be making my mom’s sweet n sour meatballs this year. The jarred sauce I use as a base has been ‘on sale’ at a couple different stores the last couple weeks. It has gotten WAAAAY too expensive for me to buy and it is NOT available in a generic or at Aldi.
Twinmoma I have WAAY too many stores that do NOT take internet pintables so I NEED inserts. Also, I got a deal on Groupon in March to get our bigger paper 4 days/week for 0.50/week (pay up front) for 52 weeks. WAG has a monthly cottonelle TP deal going that had decent reviews.

I oficially LOVE this brand of milk. It last so much longer than the regular kind that comes in a plastic gallon jug. And even with juust the $1 coupons it comes out to the same price per gallon so I would take it in a heartbeat but with the $1.50's in there it makes it less expensive even. I don't think of stockpiling milk because of the storage and how long it lasts but with this milk I normally get at least a 6 week date and sometimes 2-3 months. We go through at least a gallon a week so the dats will not be an issue with 12 cartons! I wish it was almost. Every now and then they put out a $1.25 IP for their butter and Shoprite the 8oz SB butter on sale for $1.50. I got 2 last time and DH was confused to see a half pound container. I told him that for 0.50 cents a pound we could deal. ;D

I have only one store that take IP's and it doesn't double them like it does insert coupons. They also will impose limits on them that are different from regular. Truthfully it changes by the day so it is more challenging than I would like. I am used to the 4 like rule but with IP's it is normally 4 per day and one mgr said 1 period. If it is over a dollar I will normally try because I don't get coupons doubled to more than a dollar anyway and I can only get 2 prints of IP's. So at best I have 2 at a time and normally they will take that. If I get 2 of a couple of different ones that I really want to use I can just make a second trip the next day. I am lucky that I pass the GC at least twice a day. I wouldn't save much though if I just relied on IP's though.

I like the idea of a monthly thread... I seldom get the chance to read through eveyrthing, but its less intimidating to try out when its only a months worth of posts to scroll through to get an idea as to how it works...
Just my two cents.

I got 2 last time and DH was confused to see a half pound container. I told him that for 0.50 cents a pound we could deal. ;D You're most welcome. I'm so thankful for our coupon exchange here. There is no way I would have been able to stockpile the Capri Sun recently without the help from you gals here on the GC. I have quite a few of the Smart Balance butter stockpiled as well. One of my groceries just happened to have it on sale for $.99/7.5 oz. tub shortly after a $1/1 insert Q came out to introduce it to the market!! I had to get and use several rain checks, but with the help of the GC I was again able to stockpile FREE butter - unheard of for me!! Can you imagine how much money we've saved each other over the 6 years we've been exchanging coupons? I can't tell you how many times you gals have helped me to build a stockpile of something either due to a scenario that was posted and/or because you sent me coupons. I am EXTREMELY grateful.

I seem to get the best deals on make-up/personal care type items. I have a ton of makeup now. Do you ever sell any of it on ebay? If so, how do you price it and is it easy to sell?

I have a ton of HBA. That seems to be the best deals lately. I do get more makeup and skin care than I think we need but I also have a teenager. Nothing lasts as long as I think it will with her around. The few times I sold on Ebay or Amazon I just looked up the item to see how much others were selling it for on them. Then I sometimes decided it wasn't worth it. Other times i just priced mins so it was either the cheapest or real close to the cheapest one. Personally I prefer to sell on Amazon but maybe I am just not savvy enough for Ebay.

Maybe she can tell you how to do it. Personally, I'm not an ebay user, so I have no clue.

I think they absolutely know what they are doing! Personally I can't get any milk coupons from the NJ papers at all. If I happen to get a Phila paper they have them but never in the NJ ones. We have laws that don't allow dairy to be discounted below a minimum the state sets. I know they they know it. With out this thread and people giving me theirs I would never get a gallon of milk for less than $4, ever. I have no doubt that manufactures know this and distrubute accordingly.
