Has anyone here ever stopped eating red meat? I don't have a good reason, but about three weeks ago I decided the 10-15 cheeseburgers a week I was eatting probably wasn't a good thing so I went cold turkey. I've lost almost ten pounds, but I really didn't want to loose weight, I've been trying to keep my calories up, but I haven't found a good substitute yet. On the plus side I'm really starting to lean out and feel great. I guess I'll never make it to 210.

i still love a good burger and steak, but we predominately eat venison. we process it ourselves and do not add any pig or cow fat, i like the pure venison taste

me, for the most part. I laugh as I type this, because I just finished a cup of chili. I don't care for the taste of red meat, so it's got to be blended in with a lot of other tastes for me to eat it. I actually avoid the big chunks as best I can.
anyway, I use ground turkey as a substitute for ground beef in recipes. if you want to keep your calories up, try looking at adding more healthy fats to your diet - avocado, nuts, that sort of thing.

Has anyone here ever stopped eating red meat? I don't have a good reason --------------- I stopped several years ago and my reason wasn't my health. I saw how they treated animals in industrial feedlots and it turned my stomach. Now I eat mostly fish.

I like a juicy burger or ribeye once in awhile...stews, roasts in the winter. I'll NEVER give up red meat completely. I am from COW COUNTRY!

To answer a few questions, no I am not single, I used to eat four or five McDoubles for lunch every day, or for an occasional snack. That's just lunch, add in sausage for breakfast, ham, bacon, steaks for dinner, etc. I consumed a lot of red meat. No I'm not fat, I lift weights three-four times a week. So far it's been kind of a fun personal challenge for me. Might even be a permanent lifestyle change...

Eat more beans a lot of athletes are switching to protein loaded vegan diets because of the health and energy benefits. We've cut down to about a pound of meat per week.. well, most of us have. Dark eats fast food for lunch every day

I used to hang with a bunch of vegans/vegetarians and my meat consumption dropped a lot during that time. My red meat consumption is still down although my chicken is up alot. I've used ground turkey, I'm not a big fan. I have to read bump up the spices when I use do cook with it. YMMV.

I eat a lot of chicken. Sometimes I need a burger or steak. I'll also get a roast beef sandwich from a little local place that wood smokes their meat. When I get in a mood like that, nothing but red meat will do.

I try and stay tuned into how different foods make me feel and red meat makes me feel sluggish. I believe that we take on a negative energy by eating something that was so terrified at the time of its death. I just don't understand why if it's not good for us, it tastes so good. Well wouldn't chickens be terrified too? I think red meat is fine in moderation. But, when we eat it, i think we just tend to eat larger portions like a big juicy steak.

I only eat meat that comes from slaughter houses where soothing Nannies, like Mary Poppins, sing the cows to sleep, and then they cut off their heads.

10-15 would be two per day. Are they sliders? No Whoppers with fries. OMG I am craving. I am a red meat eater of the venison variety. I need red meat no less than every other day. I do eat chicken the other times but it's not the same.

I just don't understand why if it's not good for us, it tastes so good. -------------- Antifreeze also tastes good.

I've noticed I eat and crave less red meat and want more seafood/fish and chicken. I still love a good steak and juicy hamburger now and then and DH has been feeling the same way. We are planning on trying grass fed only beef this week and bought some sirloins to try. If I don't like it I will shred it and put it in chili or make soup with it. But I don't see us not eating red meat completely. We love rib eyes and filet mignons too much.

There are lots of red meat options out there and it seems that organic meat is becoming more popular. Buffalo, venison and even ostrich meat!

I shouldn't have read this thread. It's lunch time and I haven't had a burger in a few weeks...that's about to change. Everything in moderation.
