"Yeah, but you know people. Obviously they're going to hide their serial killer tendencies around a lawyer! " Unless it is the lawyer that is the serial killer <<gives swamp the stink eye>> <<doesn't mention exactly what kind of meat Swamp asked her to put in the freezer>> Um, uh, er, venison. Yeah, venison.

I've also met up with Meghn and Imawino. I'm still here and OK. You were sooooooooo lucky that Meg was there. I could tell you wanted to stab me with your chopstick.

Why? I don't live near San Jose. A good stalker should have already known this stuff. I'm disappointed.

You don't? Why did I think you did?
(A good stalker would know about my horrible sense of direction and general forgetfulness - just saying.)

Well, I am glad you guys are all so perceptive and not paranoid like me, and it does make it for a nice story when it ends well, but all it takes is one time not to end well. I don't know how well you "knew" each other before you got together, but no, I would not be comfortable meeting people that I "met" on-line by myself

Yah, with more than a minute of searching, you should be able to find us (me, at least) in multiple places.

How well do you ever really know anyone? Yes, online people could turn out to be crazies. But so could anyone in your general vicinity, or one of your friends.

You don't even need to be a stalker to know where Dark lives. He freakin' told us!!! I'm completely positive that he's mentioned it at least twice. But for some reason I've thought it was San Jose all this time. Now this is going to bug me

Yep, you are right, people I've known for 20 yrs can go bipolar on me and stab me with a paper clip, anything is possible.
ETA: if you guys are really saying that it's just as safe and OK to meet people from internet as hang out with your regular friends.... well, I guess.... I don't really know what else to say

For me it depends on where we're meeting. If they give you random GPS coordinates out in the middle of nowhere, and directions that are like "go so many miles down this specific road, turn right at the yellow mailbox, go three more miles, turn left at the gate that says keep out, head down that road two miles, and I'll be waiting for you under the big oak tree," that would creep me out. If you decide to meet at a crowded restaurant or something, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

And the town where the Beerfest was was 45 minutes to the west of where you thought we were.

If they were freaks, I would have just gone home.

LOL! The best part of this whole thing is that the brewfest wasn't in our hometown. It was in Santa Cruz, which is 45 minutes from where we actually live. You guys could have spent hours in the car and been nowhere close to us.

There are plenty of people here I have no desire to meet in person - some because they might be killers, some because they are clearly assholes. Of the ones I would meet, most would be somewhere public. Then there are a few people here that I feel comfortable enough about that I would go pick them up in the woods if they called and said their car broke down. But even then, I'd probably leave a note. Or try to spell out their name in my blood or something.

We figured out THAT much. Santa Cruz is a long effing way! We would have needed to get started like three hours earlier.
