I've never served on a jury, my net worth has fallen dramatically so I'm not sure whether I'm in the middle class or the upper class, I'm overweight but I don't spend too much money (although I used to like to spend too much money ), I may work forever because the work is challenging and I like having good benefits which I pay little for and putting most of my pay away for "retirement", and I drink soda pop, and I'll be going into retirement with a mortgage on our current residence. Also, our daughter owes us $ 2900, and wants me to take care of her cat in case she goes abroad to teach for a year or too. Sometimes, I even end my sentences with prepositions. Of. I used to think I was doing pretty good, evidently not. God help me ! God help me.

Yes, but you're a prominent attorney, so you have an excuse. Besides, you have to work forever, too, or you'll instantly die when you retire. Remember ?

I feel better now. Also, I have Fridays off because I've already put in my bitter 40-hour week in 4 10-hour days. I also did some more rejections on our horrible new system last night, just for fun. I sent $ 28,800 in extremely expensive injections ( ten of them ) back to be billed after I put a new diagnosis code on them. I remembered this patient of old, and knew what to do so their insurance would pay for said injections.....I also edited some pacemaker interrogations for fun, so that they would be off the books ( you can only bill Medicare an interrogation for your pacemaker or ICD every 90 days, but some patients need an interrogation every 30 days because they are unstable ). I got to void about a dozen interrogations. It was great. I feel like Voldemort when I get to give our good billers a buttload of new work and void a bunch of medical procedures. I rule the rejection queueline. Only 2300+ more to go. ( I am not making this up ).

Sea, don't worry, there is no longer a middle class. The middle class has been a myth for the last decade or so.
ETA: I no longer care about most of the other things. Been retired too long, and I was lucky enough to go early. Betcha Swamp can't retire.

I won't have a pension when I retire, but I will have money, if that makes sense. Also, I can rule my services ( at the hospital ) and the rejection queueline until I hang it up. They know it ( the PTB in my small worlld ) know it..... . It's good to be Voldemort on a Friday morning.

Ha ! I sorted him out in the movie before the last one, then moved to Saratoga Springs, New York, where I'm living in retirement.....now I'm worried about my Evil Wizards' Pension Fund and trying to make a deal with the one in the song below...It's by Ralph Stanley, by the way....

Seagul, I have multiple things to worry about too: Mom is in a nursing home, and her health is NOT doing well, DD is off to college next week, I dunno how many more years I'll be working either (or how many more years I'll WANT to work). DS is autistic, & will be having a new round of therapy outside of school. I deal with this stuff by trying to see what's going RIGHT in my life. (No credit card debt, DH is still with me, etc.) And try not to worry about what I can't control in the future, and make some changes of what I might be able to control (somewhat). Prayer works for me, too. Hang in there! Oh, and I'm having Diet Pepsi for breakfast...

Diet Pepsi for breakfast helps. Busymom, I wish you and your family well. I'll keep you all in my prayers. I agree. Prayers do help...

I did look at some of Prince Harry's nude photos ( they blotted out his Royal Jewels ). I'm with Lady Gaga. Wow. I must say, he looked very, ummm, fetching.

I've already decided that I'm retiring at 55 whether I can afford it or not. The only question left is how long I can stay retired before I go broke and commit suicide.

I'm 60 and I'm DONE. Maybe 55. Once I retire, I will perk back up. You're already perky. What you talkin'? Anyway, just you wait and see: retirement is a colossal bore. Brush up on your golf or think up something else to do. Just don't make the mistake of telling anybody you're a retired atty. The older I get, the perkier I am ;D I'm even perkier now that I found out I'm poverty-stricken. Woe is I. Most of my life I was solid middle class, and now I'm low-income and among the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free. (Key word being "free", as in gratis, no charge.) Does this mean that I get to pull up to the public trough and get freebies without number? What about Tucker the Perfectly Good Cat? Does he get freebies, too? Seagul, ditch the soda pop; it eats at the bones and besides a mortgage and a cat that needs to be cat-sat, you'll have osteoporosis. Maybe tell your DD that you can catsit, but there will be a nominal charge of $2900. It's okay to end your sentences with prepositions. Beware of leaving particples dangling.

You can get cited for indecent exposure for that, if the cop is having a bad day. Usually they just give you a warning though.

Military guys do stupid stuff when we're drunk, like hang brains in a bar then go talk to random women because we think it'll be hilarious. To be fair it really is kind of funny.
Oh, uh hanging brains is when you open your fly and let your scrotum hang out. Just your scrotum. If you let the frank out with the beans you're crossing the line.

I already got a traffic ticket for driving around with dangling participles, so I have to be careful now or I will get more points on my prepositions. I might sit DD's beastly cat ( I ususally like cats, but not this one particularly ) for $ 2900. But maybe not. Besides, she's getting an inheritance from her aunt, so that will be paid back when the probate court closes the estate....soon, we hope. I think that you have to be very drunk to think that that's funny, Dark. Miss Rigby, you're not lower middle class. You're independent, perky, and cantankerously frugal.

How could you even think such a thing about a furry bundle of fun? And there's the purr factor to consider, too. Tsk, tsk. Lower middle class (according to everything I read) would be a step up! Geez, I should get food stamps so I can buy crab legs, a Coach purse for carrying the food stamps, and an Escalade to drive to the store to spend the aforementioned food stamps on the aforementioned crab legs. Perky? Isn't that Swamp? Independent? Ya, you betcha! Cantankerously frugal? I'd drink to that but can't buy wine with food stamps and haven't ever seen a coupon for wine. Fiddlesticks.

Miss Rigby, this is a very ornery female middle-aged gray country Arizona cat which has lived in five states, lived with some guys that teased her all of the time, and claws furniture incessantly. She'll roll over to have a scratch or pet from me, about five feet away. If she gets on my lap, she bites me if I move my legs. If she tries to sleep with me ( us ), she starts a fight with the poodle. I've already lived with this cat for a year after our daughter moved back from Texas. I don't want to spend any more time with her than I have to. And, I'm a woman whose had cats for over 50 years. This just isn't my type of cat. Merrrooowww.
