**deleted comment removed** As to the rest of your post, it is very interesting. Obviously you've built revenue streams that are serving you well. You planted these seeds a good many years ago, and now they are bearing fruit. Whats wrong with the rentals right now? I thought those little 3/2s where people can afford rent, but not the purchasing costs were tremendously profitable? Don't you own a whole block of them in one area? ...:::"I still dream of putting it all on autopilot so I can just leave and in ten years come back and find my empire not only in good shape, but vibrant and growing.":::... You once said (probably quoting someone else, but still) that the truly successful look to phase themselves out as soon as possible. That is the difference between a millionaire, and a multi-millionaire. At the same time, NOBODY will take care of your interests with as much determination as you will. Remember that anyone you hire is just one of those pitful wage slaves you have so much contempt for. They don't care about your goals, they will just work at the level they feel they are paid at. If that means the ship sinks while they are steering it, then so be it. So isn't enough enough? What happened to all that four hour work week stuff? I'm not sure I understand question number one, so if you want to re-phrase it (or give me a hint) that'd be fine. Yes, I have built revenue streams that are working well. The online businesses are working far better than they were in some of my earlier posts. What I found was that I had to uber-specialize-- to a ridiculous degree. When I started out I was mostly marketing information-- selling electrons. What could be easier or more profitable? The problem is that most information is free. That kind of business is not easily automated- the big money is in the cult of personality, the guru / coach status. Wasn't interested, so I drilled down on a few physical products that have a very small market willing to pay for a specialty product. That pulls in about what I used to make back in the day at Morgan Stanley- which wasn't much, but most people in this country live on less, so what's the worry. I won't say which sites, but I'll tell you what I sell: 3 products: Irish Walking Sticks. 2. Premium Stand-Up Paddle Boards, and 3. (Probably won't surprise anyone) Hydroponic / Acquaponic gardening. And while I do appreciate good troll bait (re: those wage slaves I have such contempt for) I'm going to leave that alone. I will say on the four hour work week stuff- my online business is less than four hours a week and brings in roughly $60K a year. If that's all I did, I could retire on that alone, let alone the houses. Low income housing is good business, but it is not for the faint of heart. I currently have to evict an ex con who has Gerry rigged (slang term for Germans, btw- not unlike "cracka" and other terms) the electric on the house so he (thinks) he won't have to pay the bill. The trouble is that the electric co is already on to him (read: me) so there's crap like that every so often. And need I go back to the story of my brief period as the landlord for a meth cook? Who doesn't like the DEA call in the middle of the night (hey- at least they didn't burst in and shoot my dog)? The trouble- my trouble- really has its roots in the fact that I don't seem to have an "off" switch. If I get a spare two minutes, I start something else. I'm not in over my head, but suffice it to say I'm in deeper than I want to be right now-- and there's NO WAY out of it. Two of my projects have investor money in them- I quit "just because" and I lose all credibility with a lot of people with deep pockets and friends with even deeper pockets. So, I'm a 'wage slave' myslef- I just get paid better. For now. I'll turn it around, dig out of this hole, make people happy, make some money, and move on-- I really mostly posted this to remind myself when the time comes: DO NOT START SH**!!! Take a break!

No biggie, I'll take care of it. Those hurricanes were tragedies, and hurt many people, and should be treated as such.

I think I still have a post from 2006 of you explaining how you set up auto-mailers and sold attendance at conferences. You said something like you made $800 in the time it took you to pick up a pizza. We had a long discussion on how to discern "legitimate leads/referrals" from phony ones -- this was my big stumbling block in trying to set up something similar.
...:::"And while I do appreciate good troll bait (re: those wage slaves I have such contempt for) I'm going to leave that alone.":::...
It wasn't so much troll bait: just a simple fact that anyone you hire, is by definition, an employee, and falls into a category of people you've had quite a bit of contempt for in the past. I got the feeling you treated employees reasonably well from past posts.

I don't recall this one. Well at least he is an up and coming businessman with an extremely profitable revenue stream.

With the change in the name of the site, were all of these threads linked on here migrated over?

It would be helpful to know the ground rules at the restaurant. I don't know how many will be amenable to requests to serve enough food for 45 when 70 might show up, or use smaller plates, or have volunteers serve the food. No restaurant that values its reputation will allow a buffet to run out and shrug and say, "sorry, that's all your group paid for". It makes them look bad, too. There are also liability issues with volunteers serving food. They're not trained, they may sneeze on the food, etc. I suspect that the restaurant will stick to its quote of $15 per person. If 70 show up, that's what you'll pay for. Wrong thread

What does RMD mean (regarding money). Required Minimum Distribution? That's my assumption, but I'm not clear on the context of your question.

I am referring to questions or statements like this:
"I did a search but didn't see this particular question addressed - for those facing RMD's how do you choose where to draw from? Those funds that are doing the best? Equally from all? Equities before Fixed Income? Do you reinvest or spend the money? I know these are multiple questions, but I don't see a lot of posts on how people do this?"

It for those individuals that funds in their 401(k)s, IRAs in which when the participants reaches 70.5, they have to take out a required minimum distribution that's based on the individual's age and account balance.

Editing out the notmsnmoney prefix in the old threads and throwing ymam in there instead will get you past the angry bear.
I'd like to mention that we used to have a whole lot of "What would you do with $100 dollars that you found on the street?" threads and similar threads for different amounts. I found those threads incredibly useful when I was broke as hell. I don't think that I ever posted on any of those threads and I generally hated other people's answers but they were fantastically useful thought exercises. I'd routinely come up with an initial boring answer (i.e.stick it in savings and try to forget that it is there or pay down the credit card) but I eventually came up with much more interesting and higher-return options and landed up using many of them. The sense of having some control over my own destiny that was inspired by these threads might have been what kept me going.
Unfortunately, I don't think that many of those threads made the jump to proboards. Does anyone know of any?
