I'd like to amass a list of some of the most useful (knowledge-wise) threads that we have ever had here. I have a few I want to search out, and I suspect many others do too. I intend to continually edit this OP to house a comprehensive list and if it gets big enough, sticky it to the top. If this is a bad idea, I'll just let it die. Anyone who would like to nominate a thread, or a category, please post it in this thread, along with the link to the thread. I'll review nominated threads and compile the list. So far we'll start with some categories, and with the thread that gave me this idea: =Attitude= Good or Bad Positive: notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=finance&action=display&thread=17544Laws of Humanistics: notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=75=Budgeting= Spreadsheets, trimming the fat... I'd say we should have a category on home refinance... I see that question a lot.

Great idea, WeWill! I would like to see threads about whether you should pay your mortgage off or not and the breakdown of 15 year and 30 mortgages. And we need both Phil and Jimb's input and numbers broken down type threads. Just don't ask me where those are because I have no idea. But if you need help I will look for some.

Part time on-line jobs and what to look for? I know I've seen that question asked quite a bit and several people have posted links to legitimate sites and made some great suggestions.

i would consider any thread that Tloony starts as a "most useful" thread...it may apply to many categories...inventory control, product pricing, checkbook balancing, selecting amish chickens, etc...

There have been a number of threads on job loss and/or possibility of a looming job loss: what to do, how to prepare. I wish I could locate them, however.

One on guardianship, wills, trusts and life insurance.
Maybe one on elder issues?
Landlord/rental thread.

Anyone is welcome to nominate a thread. You can either paste the URL here, or PM me with what you remember and I'll try to find it. All the ideas posted so far are excellent and I've updated the OP.

Any Doxie thread for those wanting/not wanting to change. I wanted to suggest this but couldn't think of the right way to phrase it.

Dancinmama put together a nice handbook (thread) on how to get started with couponing, etc. I definitely think that should be included.

Yes, WIR was the reason I did not originally include a coupon thread category. It was not for lack of appreciation for the subject matter, or the SME. If dancinmama wants to submit one of her threads from YM as a reference, by all means I'll include it.
...:::"Oooh, and a cheat sheet of abbreviations.":::...
Some forums have this, as well. I can get that started with the ones I know.
ETA: that abbreviations thread could become gigantic by itself. If so, we could create a separate thread, and link to it from here. Such knowledge would be useful on the general board. I'd wanted to start by having this thread just focus on YM.

There've been some really good threads about loaning money to relatives, dealing with relatives who can't manage money and want you (as the "rich one in the family") to help them out.....

OK I've crunched a little at this. I found some threads that I think covered an issue reasonably well (and one or two that were just fun). I've also added a bit to the list of terms.
Lot of memories. Firebirds engagement photos, cawiau's crazy cousin asking for limo money, Paul being the ass we love, doxie and daycare...
There are a few I know I want to find. I rather liked the "interview tips" that we gave Mrs. C. for one.

WWBG, I think this is a fabulous idea! I had a lot of the "old" board discussions bookmarked on my old computer so I could access them easily. Unfortunately, I deleted that file.... I'm going to have to go look for it, but there was a really great retirement/returns thread recently on beating or matching Phil's magical 11% number. Comments from that thread pop into my mind regularly as I'm looking at various retirement planning help sites. I'll send you the link if I have time/remember/think about finding it!

Yep. I almost never start a thread. When I did, jimb made some great points and dropped the knowledge - and now my butchery of math is immortalized. -sigh-
