Don 't you hate that part? After an interview... the call back about if you got the job or not! Interview was Friday and that is all I have been thinking about. Still no calls!Aaaarrrggggh!!!! I wish there was a quicker process. I just want to move on with my life and knowing if I will need to move or not is a big part of that.

I wish I were in the waiting stage, but I am in the looking stage right now, big guy. Good luck and hang in there!

Hang in there C! It seems in this economy they keep people waiting longer than usual. A couple of weeks or more is the normal wait here.... Best of luck!

For my current job - they were taking forever to finalize the offer, so I let the HR person know I was taking a position with another company. I had the offer within an hour.

DH got a cryptic email back from a place he applied to. It started out by saying congratulations. Then it said he met all requirements for the job so he was in consideration. It ended with a hooray.

I'm working now, but I figure it's the best time to be looking. Asking friends to keep an eye out for me as well.

I was just talking to my neighbor. He has been not working for a while, and now has been going through the interview process with a company that he is very, very excited about. They said they would call "sometime this week" - so he has a long list of chores that he is going to do today. He said he simply can't wait by the phone - it will make him crazy. So, you are not alone.

You have my sympathy. Last week I had an interview for a position and they told me that they would call me either way. I thought the interview went very well. The same night I had the interview, they called me but I was out to dinner for my anniversary so they left a message that they had called. I thought it must be good news because they called right away. I called back the next day and had to leave a message. I didn't hear anything for days so I figured out that I had NOT gotten the position. Sure enough a week later they called and told me that the offer went to someone else. I had an interview yesterday morning. I didn't think it went as well as it could have. I decided to take my son to soccer practice yesterday instead of waiting for the phone to ring. When I got home there was one message. I played it and it was a hang up call. This morning my phone rang earlier than most calls so I got excited and it turns out it was an automated message from my son's school. As I was reading my e-mail this morning the phone rang again and success! I was offered the job and accepted it! ;D Hang in there!

He said he simply can't wait by the phone - it will make him crazy. Don't I know the feeling. I am off today and trying to keep my mind of it but not helping. So surfing the net, etc. About to head to the gym soon

I feel your pain but, as the others said, have patience and find plenty of things to distract you.
I've got my 3rd interview with a company on the 13th. Two weeks after that I'm scheduled to leave for 2 months at the European HQ of my CURRENT employer and they have no clue I'm looking elsewhere. The company I'm interviewing with says they should be able to "bring things to a close" soon after the 13th. BTW, this has been cooking since I approached them in mid-June. Having to work around vacations this time of year (including mine) did slow things down.
Have you tried threatening to leave the country for 2 months? ;-)

I had an interview a couple months ago and still have heard nothing. I assume they aren't interested, but it would be nice if they let people know something... Perhaps the first job of the new person is to send the "I'm sorry" letters to the other applicants? I did this once for one of my jobs. It was interesting to see the competition I had beat out for the job.

Congratulations, cyanne!!
I know what you mean, cawiau--I just submitted a resume for a job at another project (a permenant promotion--same job I just finished as a temp promotion). It closes today so I'm first waiting to see if I make the list--don't know if they'll do interviews or not though.

Congrats Cyanne! Carl, I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseum, but I'm not here everyday. I'm assuming you are applying within in the same grocery store chain. Are they going to get annoyed with you for moving around so much? I do hope you get a call soon! Chloe

Uuuurrrggghhh!!!!! Some folks are so freaking unprofessional it is not even funny. Long story short seems like I will have to wait another 2 weeks for an answer. So how is that unprofessional? - I know one of the people that applied for one of the position. - today I come back to work after 2 days off and see that her position is posted aka she got one of the positions - I call my HR specialist and said: I saw that X job got posted meaning she got the job. Does that mean all the other positions was also filled because I did not get a call. - My HR person called their HR person to find what was going on - Seems their HR filled the position, poste her position without calling any of the other people that applied for the job. - so then he calls me saying how that position had to be filled immidiately and that I am still in the running for the other 4, 5 if you consider her old job, and they will make a decision in 2 weeks. So basically we had to find out thru the website that she got the job because her current job got posted on Monday; no one bother to update us. And if I did not call my HR specialist today just to find out what was the deal... This guys was perfectly ok with having us wait 2 more weeks. I think it was a major "faux pas" posting her job without telling the others that A) this particular position has been filled B) we are still in the process of selecting for the other 4 (now 5) and we will let you know in 2 weeks. Heh, I probably burned some bridges today! Maybe I am weird, but I thought it was unprofessional.

Did you apply for the position that this other gal got? If you did not, then why does it matter. You are waiting to hear about the position you applied for correct? give it some time, you are getting worked up over nothing. We all applied for the same positions. We were all interviewed by the same panel on Friday. So yes when I saw that her old job was posted on Monday following the interview, I assumed they not only filled that position but all the positions since it was Wednesday and still no call.

Cawiau,
You realize that you just transferred to your current position recently. And now you're applying for another position. Before you've really proven yourself in your current (new) position.
Don't expect to get the new job. Even if you are the most qualified. I'm thinking that management is thinking that you might want to move AGAIN. If you get it, great. If not, do your best at your current position.

If I am reading this correctly, you knew about an open position and interviewed before the position was posted.
I'd be guessing that a position needs to be posted for a certain period of time before they can say it is filled.
If you look at my employer's website, there will be a notice mentioning that there is an internal candidate for the position, but the position is still posted and people can still apply.

I think what Carl is saying is that both he and the woman applied for the same jobs and he knew she got it because her present postion was posted as open. He found out the job he interviewed for was filled by her because he happened to see her job posting and not because the HR in charge of it had informed anyone but the women they chose. I am not sure but I think there are other job openings that were interviewed at the same time that he still could get.

No. In lamest terms: - me and her went up against each other for the same position - she got it but they did not call me to tell me I didn't - I found out she got it when they posted the position she is leaving. Only we were up against each other for 5 positions in the MA area and she was picked to fill one. When I saw that she got one and they did not call me, I assumed all 5 was filled, so did 3 other candidates that called me trying to find out who else got the other 4. They just filled one position and forgot to tell the other candidates that or that the other 4 were still unfilled.

If I don't get any of the 4 it wouldn't be the end of the world. But damn it, I want it. Worse case scenario I stay here another year and re-apply.
