One year when I was growing up, my dad bought my mom a vaccuum for Christmas. That didn't go over well, if I remember. I think if the mom asks for one, it's ok Agreed. That should be safe .... maybe! (grin)

Hubby took us to Trans Siberian Orchestra front and center 4th row. Was quite the show. My main gift will be a very nice ring again along with assorted stocking stuffers.

So far I've gotten a bottle of wine from my boss and assorted chocolates/edibles from DH's coworkers. No idea when DH has wrapped up and placed under the tree. I truly couldn't think of anything I wanted/needed this year other than a foodmill and furniture for the house (which we're going to buy anyway, independent of the holiday).

I adopted a puppy about three weeks ago so that was SUPPOSED to be my Christmas gift, but DH is insisting on getting me a new laptop so we can hand mine down to DS. I love the laptop that I already have and haven't heard great things about Windows 7, but I could use one that is a little faster when you have a ton of windows open at the same time as is often the case for me. Ahem. We need pictures! (Of the puppy, not the laptop!) Maybe my DS can help me figure out how to get a picture of him on here. He is a border terrier and is cute as a button. I went into Pet Smart to buy some food for our beagle and the rescue people were set up there. I saw him and picked him up. He licked at my face as if to say, "I love you, I love you. Take me home with you." I bought the food for our beagle and left the store, but I just couldn't start the car and leave. I spent 20 minutes in the car trying to get over him, but I just couldn't. He is the sweetest little thing and loves on EVERYBODY he comes in contact with. Our beagle and kitty cat have already adjusted to our new member of the family.

Ok, I'll bite. What's a foodmill? Like a pepper mill??? It's a tool you use to remove skin/seeds and whatnot from tomatoes, raspberries, etc when making things like sauces or sorbets.

Food mills are too much work. I prefer a food processor and a fine mesh sieve.

My dear Boyfriend bought me a white sapphire ring. I got to open it last weekend as we celebrated Christmas then since he has to be with his brother this weekend (his brother is having surgery). It is the most perfect gift - he remembered my birth stone, it was the perfect size, and it has a really nice design. And I bought myself a cuisnart griddler.

I received a Zombie Survival Kit from DS. Says so right on the duffle bag. It included a machete, biowaste disposal bags, and a twinkie (for those of you who have seen Zombieland) among other things.

I got both my kids. They are getting older so it won't be much longer before NOT being at Mom's is going to happen! Whimper. SOMETIMES I wish they were young again.

I got the cartouche with my name in hieroglyphics that I've been wanting. That was the only gift from DH but it really cost quite a bit so I don't really care that I didn't get anything else.
Spent the day with the kids and grandkids yesterday and had a great time all around. Got some new pictures of the grands and a small one to put on my desk at work.

DH & I took a trip to Florida to be with my father & stepmother for Christmas. We stayed at a nice condo at an excellent price which I found on Craigslist which was down the street from theirs. It was on Marco Island, which is paradise as long as you realize it's all an illusion. We went for boat rides in the Everglades, walked a lot, swam, and enjoyed the beautiful air and scenery.
That was quite a present for each other. I gave him a DVD of "Heavy Metal", that old animated movie from the 70's. He ( with my help ) gave me a cake server for my silverware set.
We didn't decorate the house, but all of Marco Island decorated for us this Christmas !

I got an iPad - sorta...... DH gave me an Apple gift card for $600 so I can get one now if I choose. But his advice was to wait for the iPad2, expected to appear around April, 2011. What should I do?

There's a range like that near where I work. Considering how nice it felt to hit the clubs, I may have to make a few trips there this winter.

I got an inheritance check from my grandmother's estate. She always gave my brother and I cards with checks in them for Christmas. So mom gave the inheritance checks to us the same way (she had somehow even saved envelopes in my grandmother's handwriting). Mom gave them to us and said, "This her last Christmas present to you guys." Needless to say, lots of tears and hugs ensued. It's enough to pay off my student loans (making me completely debt free) and max my Roth for 2010. Those are wonderful gifts, to be sure, but I'd trade them in a heartbeat for one more Christmas with my Bamaw. As for the rest of it - I was so much more excited about the gifts I was able to give this year. My bff is going through a protracted divorce and her huge boxer dog has been her rock through it all, so I commissioned my brother to do an oil painting of him for her. (He's a serious artist, with gallery shows and such.) I gave it to her yesterday and she was so touched she cried. My starving - artist brother got an 6Q All Clad soup pot and the stuff to make ham bone soup (his favorite). I gave Mom a beginner quilting class, and DBF gave 6 months of Netflix to my parents. And we bought his mother a Wii. I really loved having the means this year to give thoughtful and slightly extravagant gifts. It makes me feel like a grown-up! I am so blessed to be at a point in my life that I can afford the things that I want. DBF and I decided not to exchange presents with each other, because we don't need anything. I got the expected range of foodie presents, which were awesome this year - a microplane with a handle (hooray!), a bunch of local artisan beer, raw honey, home canned Christmas jam, and a piece of Le Crueset bakeware that my found a fantastic deal on. I also got a pair of Bose headphones that I'm currently using to ignore my boss. It was a good Christmas.

I got:
Jeopardy for Wii The BBC miniseries Pride & Predjudice (Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy mmmm) Some jewelry (nothing expensive as I tend to lose or break it all) Little things like socks, candle, gloves, etc. AND..... an ipad!!!!! I'm LOVING it, I haven't put it down in 3 days.
We are going to the in-laws later this week so I'm sure there will be more gift from them as well.

The BBC miniseries Pride & Predjudice (Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy mmmm)
I got that a few years ago, should've waited for the price to come down! I can't stand the 2 hr remake. BBC's version is great! anne - that's so cute! Did DS help pick it out for you?
I got some gadget for the tv to stream movies, internet, and even our stored videos of the kids from the computer. Of course, DH uses it even more than I do....
