When I was a kid, one of the things we always did when we returned to school after Christmas was ask each other " What did you get?" So, in keeping with this time-honored tradition .... WHAT DID YOU GET FOR CHRISTMAS!?You are free to discuss the really good gifts, the really hideous gifts, the really bizarre gifts, as well as gifts you plan to purchase for yourself using Christmas Cash or Gift Cards. We'd especially appreciate photos of really hideous or bizarre gifts (or maybe that's just me?) ;D

We bought a TV; BF's mom is giving us half the money for it for Christmas. My Dad is splitting his Phillies season tickets with us; he's upgrading his seats so we'll find out where we're sitting on Friday!

I bought myself new golf irons. Sadly, my big hope is that I get a new vaccuum cleaner...

So far, not much. I did my former boss a HUGE favor this year and he said he would give me a nice Christmas gift. I was expecting a case of really good wine; I got a coffee table book that he didn't have to pay squat for because it was published by his girlfriend's company.

I'm a diehard Sox fan, I totally appreciate this for you! so far, the only gift that's come in is the one from the boss (today). I haven't opened the card (historically has a $25 gift card in it) but the attached box has a Russell Stover label. everyone in my building knows how much I don't like chocolate. oh well.....it's good to leave out on the coffee table when I have guests this season.

So far my only gift is a card with two one hundred dollar bills in it from mom. She isn't much of a shopper just sent everyone money in the festive green color.

J, I hope you get your vacuum. Last year, BF bought us a new oven mitt and decided to wrap it up for Christmas and give it to me as one of my gifts, but I was super excited! Our old one was getting worn and we were burning ourselves! I may or may not have turned the mitt into a sock puppet and made it talk.

meghan, you just refreshed my memory...last year, I got the biggest joke gift that turned out to be the best.gift.ever - an Ove Glove! I had burned my arm over Labor Day weekend - I was turning a pan when the doorbell rang. I jumped, and hit my forearm on the "box" of the oven, the actual frame up top. I iced it, it looked ok, I went about my business. a week or so later, it still hasn't healed, and I have a hockey tournament to play in. so I slather it with neosporin and cover during the games. come to find out, I'm newly allergic to neosporin, so my arm just blows up. it takes about 3 weeks to a) get the reaction under control, and b) clear the scab. by the time Christmas comes around, the new skin was finally completely grown in, and I'd almost forgotten about it. until.....I peek in my stocking, and there's the Ove Glove. so many guests have commented (I invariably have something in the oven when guests are around) it's just become the running joke.

I haven't gotten anything yet this year but I did get a bola tie for hubby. The stone in it is boulder turquoise and very unusual. Hope he likes it.

My DH and I went on a mediterranean cruise in November. While we were in Turkey we bought a beautiful rug which should arrive in early January. Both our birthdays are in January and the rug was so expensive that it is our Christmas and birthday gifts.
DH is deployed right now so there isn't much sense is buying lots of gifts. I didn't even put up a tree this year.

The whole family went as their gift to themselves. Istanbul, Kusadasi (sp), Athens, Venice, Naples, Monte Carlo, Barcelona - it was AWESOME!! I saw so many things that I thought I would never see in my lifetime. I thought Greece would be my favorite (always wanted to go there ever since I was little), but I just LOVED Venice.

I adopted a puppy about three weeks ago so that was SUPPOSED to be my Christmas gift, but DH is insisting on getting me a new laptop so we can hand mine down to DS. I love the laptop that I already have and haven't heard great things about Windows 7, but I could use one that is a little faster when you have a ton of windows open at the same time as is often the case for me.

My boss gave me a coffee cup with homemade hot chocolate mix in it. I already know what DH is giving me - a cartouche with my name in hierogliphics. It's what I've been really wanting for a long time, but he spent way too much. I still want a bigger TV for the LR. My eyes are getting worse and I'm having a hard time seeing the screen, so maybe after Christmas we'll get one.

i have gotten microwaves, vacuum cleaners and dishwashers from my DH for Christmas before and I didn't mind at all. They were things I needed and much appreciated.

Since we already live in Europe the flight to Venice was cheap. I didn't like Venice as much as I like Rome and Florence, but part of that was because no one told us that the streets are flooded half the time and you have to walk on those platforms with ten thousand people pushing and shoving and stopping abruptly to take photos. If we go back I'm taking my knee high rain boots!

DH and I have not gifted each other for a few years now, but I was at the grocery deli last weekend, and I was looking at a rack of motivational books while waiting my turn to get served, and I spotted a small bible with large print. He never reads the one he has because it is so big, it just isn't conducive to comfortable reading.
I know he will enjoy the impromptu gift.

Aren't you guys a few days early? I don't know what Santa is bringing yet, around here he's pretty particular about waiting until the 25th and all that jazz.
