If you do get another offer, you could go tell your boss that if you are promised a raise, you'll decline the other offer. Then dial a friend who is in on the joke, "decline the offer", and then wait a few minutes, and start laughing maniacally. Then leave and never come back.

Too much work, I still vote giving her your resignation letter on your last day and let them figure out how to do your job.

This morning I came in just like everything was normal. I am really not talking to co-worker or boss unless I have too.
Boss was here briefly and thanked me for being "a team player" and " taking one for the team". I politely told her that the main team I play for is my family and I explained to her that the raise meant a lot to me and that I was disappointed that it was taken away on another persons whim. I was told if I would just hang in there and wait for my turn I would be rewarded. I am so out I couldn't be anymore out on this woman.
She pointed out several things she has done for me over the 8 years and basically called me ungrateful. I was even, calm and reasonable.
She had the stones to point out when she left that I couldn't be struggling with money too badly since I was drinking Starbucks!!
* I get Starbucks every monday and it comes from gift cards or my fun money for the week.

What a bitch!!!!!!
If I were you, I would be looking for a job ASAP, like yesterday. Get out NOW, your employer for not value you and is taking advantage of you.
It like one of my old boss only giving me less than 1% raise because it was obvious I wasn't hurting for money since I was contributing 25% to my 401k. I was out of that store by the end of the month and transfer to another one. My personal finances was none of is business and if I work my ass off I deserve that raise.

Sounds like she's attempting to get you to leave? Or, believes that you won't be able to find another job that easily?

I would tell the worker that already said they were going part-time that her paycheck would reflect that. If she still wants to work 40 hours per week, that is her decision.

This is why I refer to my emergency fun as a Go To Hell account. Because that is exactly what I would have told her as I walked out the door. I'm so sorry for you. Find a new job fast. I can't believe she told you to wait your turn...

Now you know exactly what kind of person your boss is, and what she thinks of you. Act accordingly. I'd have a hard time being pleasant in your situation, but it's the best thing to do until you can tell them to take the job and shove it (even if you just say it in your head).
I hope you're looking for something else, and I hope you get a great offer from somewhere else SOON!

There is an old Johnny Paycheck song
"take this job and shove it"
As a boss and manager, i am ashamed of what this person did
It goes against everything i know about treating employees fairly and honestly
Get the hell out of dodge...and the sooner the better

But perhaps carl had shared that information with his boss or others that shared it with the boss?

To have a Boss comment on your finances is ridiculous.... Do Boss's normally know what the employees put int he 401? It is possible, although it would depend on the company's structure. I worked for a medium-sized business, and the 'boss' signed all the payroll checks. They were printed with all the employees' payroll deductions, so if he were interested, he'd be able to see any of that.

He works in a grocery store chain - I wouldn't be surprised if his boss was responsible for gathering up all of the massive amount of paperwork it takes to be employed, check it for errors and send it in to corporate HR.

Now we can just do it on the website but before we had to file it out on paper, give it to the store manager which in turn send it the HR/Payroll department at the corporate office.

Good Luck jingles. That is one bad manager & it is time for you to get out of there. Totally inappropriate for her to be commenting on your coffee! But she was 'bad' or spiteful manager the moment she let part time notice person rescind to full time. As a manager I would have calmly told part timer that I had accepted her notice & made arrangements that were not changeable to accommodate her request.
