Could be. It could also be harder to incapacitate a large dude using only your hands and feet than some martial arts instructors might lead people to believe.

Sure, as long as the dude is willing to stand still while you wail on him. In reality he's moving, you're moving, he'll at least partially block or dodge your punches or kicks, so that shot you aim at his neck catches him in the jaw instead. It still hurts, and will leave a bruise the next day, but instead of incapacitating him it just pisses him off. I've seen plenty of full contact fights between black belts from various martial arts. I've rarely ever seen a fight end because one guy caught the other with a shot to the knee, throat, nerve center, etc. Unless the rules prohibit ground fighting it usually ends up there with one guy choking the other out, or getting on top and beating the crap out of the guy on bottom with punches and elbows to the face. If they were allowed to eye gouge that might be a viable tactic though. DH, I think that's because they are fights that both opponents are supposed to leave alive and mostly whole so certain techniques are not used. Also, not many black belts are going around attacking women. Yes, if I was fighting a person who was at my level and larger, that person would win, however, if you are much better (and are using techniques designed for a smaller person), you can win against a larger opponent and do a lot of damage. But again, you have to be willing to kill, because most weak points (thought not all) can be deadly if hit hard enough.

I think airlines should be professional and try not to humiliate customers. They can do things like publish seat sizes to help people determine if they need more than one. Airlines have to appraoch this subject very carefully, it's only a matter of time before someone sues you over "mental health damage" or you piss off some celebrity or important person that can rally others to boycott you.

Also, keep in mind most martial artist spar, they don't fight. They have rules that don't exist on the street. I remember trying out a discipline and the other person pinned me, the instructor asked if I could get out, expecting a no. He was very upset, as well other when I said well yes, if I break her nose. The pin left half my body free (and it was the correct pin). There was no one I could use that pin on anyone bigger than myself nor any of the discipline I was exposed to. Yet, the instructor kept saying it was useful for women defending themselves. So, it really depends on the discipline and most won't tell you that.

I don't know how we got on the topic of martial arts, but I did martial arts for about 7 years and became a black belt.
Realistically there's not much a small woman can do against a larger, sronger opponent. The best option is usually to go for a quick incapcitate and run. A small woman can't usually hit hard enough against a big strong man to do more than cause pain and piss the guy off. And for a big guy against a small woman, it only takes one good hit to take her down.

Yeah, but then you have to carry a cheeseburger around with you everywhere. It'll invariably get lost in your purse, take about a minute to dig out if you ever need it, not get replaced often enough and turn your whole purse funky, etc. etc. Being pug ugly is just easier all around.

It takes about 10 pounds of pressure. Yes trying to hit a guy in the arm or stomach/chest is useless as a small woman but I can tell you from personal experience that if you know what you are doing and the stronger man does not, a smaller person can win.

You're assuming that a chocolate bar would stay unbeaten in my purse. I don't see that happening.

Weltz, thats it, you are drummed out of the chocolate club! I thought I was drummed out a long time ago. I don't like chocolate. I'm a disgrace to the Sisterhood.

I can't stand chocolate either. I kept my Sisterhood card by pointing out that my not liking it meant there was more for everyone else.

When DS was young, he didn't like chocolate. His grandmother and I are serious chocoholics. She actually said he couldn't possibly be her grandson! Which we both thought extremely funny because he looked just like her only male.
