WooHoo - low 50's! I took tomorrow off and the temps are supposed to stay up there. Don't even mind that it's a muddy, barren-looking soggy mess outside - the blizzard snow has went bye-bye!!!! First sighting of uncovered ground since sometime in December here.

We have FINALLY been getting some rain after a few weeks of sunny, warm days. My lawn is VERY happy as we do not water it in the winter.

2/10 it got down to 11 below. This past Wednesday it was in the upper 50s and a lot of our snow melted.
Now they're predicting up to 14" of snow. I don't want snow! I want spring!!!

I'm with you MN, spring can't come too soon! I have an old friend in Saint Cloud and the poor girl has found out her snowblower is kaput for this snowstorm. I hope some good Samaritan will be able to help her out!
Here in So East WI we are getting snow/sleet right now, which may likely turn to freezing rain by mid-day, which pretty much equals ice with average temp around 31. I guess mixed in there somewhere we could get 5-8" of snow through Monday. You know, just to camouflage all the ice... yuck.

I'll take snow any day over ice. You have my sympathy! The current weather forecast is now saying 15" - 20" of snow for the Twin Cities. Ick! I hope they're wrong. Thank goodness that we bought a 2 stage snow blower in November!

We're finally seeing the light at the end of the week-long cold spell. The temp today is a big improvement over yesterday, and it's going to be above-freezing tomorrow. Now if only it would last.

It's 23 degrees and we're under a blizzard warning...it's snowing so fast there is lightening and thunder, the prediction is between 10-14 inches of new snow...aye carumba, we've had over 60 inches of snow this season already, I am winter weary- ( and three days ago it was 55 degrees!)

eastern-central MA overnight: Cloudy. Snow likely. Snow accumulation around an inch. Near steady temperature around 20. West winds around 5 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent. Monday: Snow. Total snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches. Highs in the upper 20s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph in the afternoon. Chance of snow near 100 percent. how sad is it that "2 to 4 inches" isn't much of a storm? the local news stations haven't really said much about it this time. we've had way too much snow this year. I thought Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow this year? he's fired!

2 to 4 feet is a mild storm out here, usually no major roads closed.

Ha 2-4 feet would shut DC down. It did last year.

a decent storm in my area is about 6-8 inches. 2-4 inches generally merits at least a mention outside the weather forecast. before I decided to rescue my patio furniture and flower boxes a few weeks ago, they were buried under close to 3 feet of snow. what's odd is that it's all since 1/1, and almost like clockwork on the overnight from Tues-Wed.
I'm kind of bummed that I already had tomorrow off for the holiday. with my little sports car, I've gotten quite a few snow days so far this winter.

Well, the 10:00 news reported that our suburb had received 15" of snow so far, and it isn't over yet.
The snowplows won't come around to our neighborhood until morning, but they're usually good about getting here between 6:00 and 7:30. My DH will work from home tomorrow, so won't have to get out the snowblower until the afternoon.

You must be SW metro; I'm NW metro, and we're only at around 6". That's enough for me, especially since I don't have a snowblower or a DH.

We're in Bloomington. (I love Bloomington.)
How can you get along without a snowblower in Minnesota? I can't believe how much snow gets pushed into the end of the driveway by the city plows!

Believe me, a snowblower is on my wish list, but other things seem to keep getting ahead of it, like a new fridge and dishwasher. I try to think of shoveling as an opportunity to get more exercise and work out different muscle groups than I do in my regular workouts. That doesn't always help though.

Do you have to get it done first thing in the morning to get to work, or can you break it up into 1/2 hour pieces?
If my DH is out of town, I'll use our single stage snow blower if it's more than a few inches, a shovel if it's just an inch or two. No matter what, our driveway is too large for me to do it all at once, especially if the snow plowed stuff is hard and compacted. Fortunately, I no longer work so I can take my time if DH is out of town.

Fortunately I have tomorrow off, or else I would have been out there already today to get as much cleared as possible. (And I'd be in bed right now too!) It just sucks that I'll have to spend so much of my day off shoveling. But that's what we get for living here, right?

I'm just grateful that my DH is home to do our driveway tomorrow. It would be nice if you could find a kid off from school tomorrow that you could hire to do your driveway for you!
My DH was out of town for the '91 Halloween Blizzard. He managed to get home on the 1st. I shoveled a path out to the street and called it good enough. He could get from the taxi to the house. (For non-MN folks reading this, the Halloween Blizzard dropped 8" of snow on the Twin Cities on Halloween, and continued for several days until we had 28" of snow.)
I hate shoveling and mowing. If I were single, I'd have a service do both. That's one of the things I would manage to get into my budget!
Time for bed. We'll see if we get the additional snow they're predicting for tomorrow, or if it's over with it. I sure hope it's over with!

There's only one kid in my neighborhood that I know of, and he does the shoveling at his house already, so I'd feel bad asking him to do more. I really don't mind it too much though, especially if it's not too cold, and if the wind's not too bad. I don't really mind mowing either. At least that one I can put off for a couple more days without hurting anything but curb appeal--which is bad enough anyway, lol. I've only lived in MN for 9.5 years, so I wasn't around for the Halloween blizzard, although I've certainly heard about it. And I was only 13 at that time anyway, so I probably would have just thought it was cool. Here's hoping this is the last big snow storm of the season! Well, we can cross our fingers at least...
