Dow 18,000 looks like a realistic number sometime in December.

CNBC reported there was 1 1/2 million shares on the buy side orders fifteen minutes before closing today.

They said a normal number of 600,000 to 800,000 is a number they do not even report on, but a number this high, ,means there are a lot of people and funds trying to get into the market at the end of the week.

Makes me wonder if Monday business will be a positive day too.

My portfolio came back up Friday and finally wiped out the September and October losses.

Wish I could say the same...the REITs and BDCs are still lagging.  At least the dividends are still being paid.

Japan is officially in a recession. In that the third largest economy in the world is in recession, what does that bode for us?? Europe?

Have heard reports the ECU is sliding down the chute too.  It's teetering on edge.  We may slip a bit along with the rest.  Another U.S. recession?  Hope we can avoid it.  But, who really knows.... we just wait and see.

I know hitting the Dow 18,000 mark does not really mean anything unless you are invested heavily in index and S&P500 index funds, but it is a milestone.

Hard to tell - There is a lot of Re-shuffling going on with Mutual Funds and Individual Portfolios as they do their end of year adjustments. Hopefully they will all finish and we will have a Santa Claus rally as they choose their new stocks for the coming Qtrs - Year.

Dow closed at 17,066 dropping 111 points almost all in the last hour with WTI OIL closing up over yesterday.

If WTO holds tomorrow, I think we see the stock indexes start climbing from the lows this week.

Losing 100 points most of it at the close is concerning, but if wti has found a trading range, we should be ok.

We held the 18,000 Dow mark to the closing today!

I remember posting somewhere here that I thought the Dow might hit 18,400 in December.

I do not know if we will, but looks like it is in reach of it.

Portfolio is not quite back to a new high, based on my oil stocks still well off their highs this year.

Tonight I paid $1.89 a gallon for mid grade no lead gasoline.

I really cannot remember the last time gasoline was this cheap. I remember gasoline selling for $1.59 per gallon in 2001.

 This has to be a major windfall for the lower middle class in America. The first few months of the new year should be good for retailers, and increase hiring, or keep seasonal hires on the job. 

The economy is looking better all the time .

I must be old, can remember gasoline at 7 cents per gallon and 5/6 cents when a few stations had a little "gas war".  Circa 1929-31.  And it was gradully up to 17-21 cents by 1940.  (Minneapolis, MN)
