I did a taste comparison with my fav (Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry). I tasted Dr. Zevia first and then the Diet Dr. Pepper, and the Diet Dr. Pepper tasted like a regular soda in comparison. To my taste, however, Diet Dr. Pepper is the diet soda that tastes most like regular anyway.

I was able to print 2/$2 q's from HCW so with the Raleys $1 q, I got 2 6pks for 1.98 + CRV. I bought the Ginger Root Beer and Creme Soda. I can't stand the taste of Dr. Pepper so the Dr. Zeva would be a no go for me. The Creme Soda isn't bad--remind me of summers in Illinois growing up. We always got to have creme soda with Sat. night dinner! I got (2) of the Ginger Root Beer thinking we'd use it for root beer floats this summer. DH made one on Sunday night and said it was a "no go" and he usually drinks diet soda.

I don't know if this was previously mentioned on this thread but I've been buying the 2oz packages of Oscar Meyer lunch meat which is giving the $4 catalina. They are $.99 each at VONS and if you buy 5 you get the $4 catalina. You can roll this so I go on my way to work every day and buy 5 packages and pay $.95. This is a TINY amount of meat. I have no idea how they ever expect to get $1.50 or $2 per package for this stuff. That would be outrageous!
Sunday I went and there were some packages near expiration that were 1/2 price ($.50) so I bought 5 of those and filled my order with other stuff to get to the $4 amount and got another $4 catalina. I've probably done this 7 or 8 times now (only twice with the discounted meat). So you have to initially invest the $5 but after that you get 5 for $.95 and at the end you'll have $4 left so not a bad deal.

I bought 6 Hunts ketchup @ $.88 at Walmart by pricematching and 1 Purina Whiskin cat treat for $.56. I used a $2.00 Purina MQ and my $4.00 Oscar Mayer catalina. I got $.12 back. I rarely see Hunts coupons and the guys go through a lot of ketchup. Last year I had a great deal and bought 12 of them and am down to the last one.
Rite Aid: Check the clearance aisle for Nice & Easy w/foam. The clearance price on the box is $5.94 clearanced but will ring up $2.87. We have $3.00 MQ and this is producing a $3.00 UP, limit of 2. Also, it is shooting out a $4.00/2 Nice & Easy cat.

Safeway Shoppers: I know that I've mentioned this before, but I'm going to mention it again because it keeps happening to me and it's AMAZING!! Ending today, Farmer John bacon is $6.99 and BOGO, so each package should be $3.50. I went to the clearance bin and sure as shit, there were (4) packages that had lost their seal with 50% tags. I grabbed 'em. I also happened to have (4) $1/1 Farmer John bacon Qs on me. I clipped all of them when they came out and stuck them in my checkbook "just in case" this very situation should arise. I had originally gone in to get Ritz c r a c k e r s. They're on sale for $2.50 and I had (2) $1.00/2 Nabisco IPs. So I had (4) Ritz and (4) Farmer John bacon when I went to check out. The cash register just cannot comprehend a BOGO sale that is combined with one of those deli section clearance coupons. The products ring up just fine, but the clearance coupons that indicate that the product should be 50% off just refuse to be recognized by the computer (probably related to the fact that they are BOGO). This forces the cashier to put the 50% clearance coupon in manually. And Safeway has a policy that you can use MCs on clearance items, including deli clearance. Because the items end up being free, they beep. It is obvious that you bought the product, so the cashiers just push them through (even the grumpy ones, which the one I got today was). On the screen, the transaction looked like this: 6.99 Farmer John Bacon -3.50 50% off (entered manually by the cashier)6.99 Farmer John Bacon -3.50 50% off (entered manually by the cashier)6.99 Farmer John Bacon -3.50 50% off (entered manually by the cashier)6.99 Farmer John Bacon -3.50 50% off (entered manually by the cashier)(Then she scanned the Ritz with no problem). On my receipt, the bacon looked like this: 4 QTY SLICED BACON 14.00 (This would be $6.99 BOGO and $6.99 BOGO - I guess rounded to the closest dollar by the computer)Reg Price 27.96 Card Savings 13.98 ADD'L DISCOUNTS 4 @ 3.50 (These are the 50% off clearance coupons entered manually)SC SLICED BACON 14.00-F 4 @ 1.00 (These are my MCs)MC MO SCANNED COUPON 4.00-F So basically, I got the bacon for free and the $4 Farmer John coupons gave me overage that was then applied to the Ritz. I ended up walking out (make that running out ) with (4) boxes of Ritz and (4) lbs. of Farmer John bacon, paying $4 OOP. Regular price without sale for those products would have been $45.12. FORTY FIVE, TWELVE? OMG!! Can that be considered petty theft?

Why don't manufacturers print ketchup coupons anymore? Don't they know that the summer barbecue season is upon us? The only ones I've gotten in the last year were Heinz printables, but I think they were $.50/1 which I thought was pretty good for ketchup. And guess what, almost as quickly as they were offered, they were all taken. I felt lucky to get the two that I did.

Dragged DBF to CVS to use all the Qs that he gets on his card. Last haul of razors for DBF for a long while.
4*$7.99 Gillette razors 2*$2.77 OralB toothbrushes 2*$1.50 Cokes Subtotal - $40.50
-$8 (2*$4/$20 Q) -$2 (2*$1 toothbrush Q) -$14.99 (2 BOGO razor Q) -$3.10 (20% Q, worked on the post-coupon total) =$12.42 Got back $4 EB and $10 EB, and DBF will submit it for the $10/$25 P&G rebate, which I'm hoping will make it an $11 MM :-)

I knew I read the directions on a blog, then couldn't find it! I've been doing an awesome P&G Cat deal this week at Price Chopper and I know I have a receipt that will qualify! Thanks again! ETA: There is a PDF of the rebate I just found online. I just googled PG time, money, gas rebate. It was on weis markets site. HTH ETA again: Well, the rebate form says the receipt needs to be from Weis, so, they must be store specific forms...bummer...will keep looking when I have time.

This is what I"m looking at this week at Rite Aid: Carefree, Stayfree, or o.b. 2/$5, limit 6 Get $2 UP wyb2 -MC $.75 ea (I think) 5/6 SS Submit for rebate for $5 wyb2. Not sure what that brings the total to but it sounds good for one of my favorite brands. Does anyone see any holes in this? I wonder if the rebate is still valid. It's been in my file for a while an I can't get to it at the moment. I remember the rebate saying very strongly that you couldn't submit it to separate addresses. Is that a standard thing I've never noticed?
Work is getting worse. They implemented a dress code. Then someone got laid off last week. Now there's a girl who's being very unpleasant to me and when I complained about her, she had already complained about me. Now we have to have meetings about it. Ugh. I'm reasonably certain my job is safe (knock on wood) but I think I'd better update that resume just in case.

FreeSalsa make sure when you are taking to HR or a supervisor about this you are very specific and give specific examples instead of saying something like "she is being unpleasant".
You need to document exactly what she is doing and maybe even keep a diary with dates and times. This way you can walk in and when they ask you what you are upset about you can open up your diary and give an exact example of what happened on this date and time. Then explain how that made you feel and makes for a very unpleasant work enviornment. HR normally responds to that much better. I know it's not much but I HTH!

Okay, so let me understand the Just4U program. I thought that you would be offered special prices based on the items that YOU buy (hence the name), but it seems like everyone is getting the same deals. I did not sign up because all I do at Safeway is cherry pick when something is free or cheap so I did not think it would be Just4me? Is there a limit on how many Just4U items that you can buy? If there isn't, I may sign up because I have several 7 Farmer John bacon coupons. $1.88 for bacon is a good deal. I'd use our card and for everything else, I could use DS's card (or vice versa).

The system picks the lowest price and you can use coupons on top of that.

I will get a good price on Bryers Ice Cream ($2.88 and I have a $.75/1 MC), Fresh Express Salad ($.99 and maybe can use the $2/1), sweet corn ($.25/ear), white mushrooms ($1.99 8 oz.), Open Nature Cracker Crisps ($1.50 off and I have a $1/1 MC). Question: When they say it is a one-time use does that mean that you only get the deal on ONE item or can you get it on multiples as long as you buy them all in the same transaction?

This week's deal started today - the bacon was probably last week's deal. One time deal - you can buy multiples of the same in one transaction.

Okay, now I see that the Breyer's Ice Cream is $2.49 ea. when you buy (3). That's not as good as the Just4U price. See, that's what pisses me off about these programs.

Okay, one of the deals listed (can't remember if it was personal or not) was Sundrop soda @ $2 off of ONE 12-pk (exp 7/30). I have $1/1 peelies that don't expire until 8/31. Chances are that this will be on sale for the 4th. So will I get the sale price minus $2/per 12-pk. minus $1/1 for each one that I buy (i.e. sale price minus $3 for each)?

Dancinmama: RE J4U will take awhile to give you the "Personalized" coupons. Everyone gets the regular J4U discounts (those $1.99 mushrooms, for example). The Fresh Express $2 q is for the blends (think, spring mix) not the .99 regular FE salad.
Be sure to bring your list with you in the event you don't get the J4U price. You can show at CS and they'll reimburse you--or if you catch it at the register, they'll correct it there. The way SW rings things up is so weird--if you see "Copient" (Sp?) on the screen, that's the J4U discount.
It's like any coupon, some weeks are better than others.

If the Sundrop is on sale for $3, you will automatically get the $2 discount, and you can use your $1 q. You'd only pay the CRV. Sometimes there are overlapping J4U prices. I.E. They gave me a price of $5.99 for Arm&Hammer cat litter and then a "personalized" q for $2.00 off any A&H cat litter. I also had a $1 IP. I was able to use all three so paid $2.99. The only thing they won't do is allow you to use a paper q when you have clicked on the same q in your J4U coupons. J4U automatically loads all the P&G insert q's and some coupon.com q's. If you click on those, then you can't use a paper q. I.E. they had the $1.25 off ICBINB q. That was a coupon.com q as well. If you click on it, you'll get the discount of $1.25 but you can't also give them your $1.25 paper q. Hope that made sense. I like the J4U program as it really gives me more items to cherry pick each week.

Dancinmama:RE J4U will take awhile to give you the "Personalized" coupons. Oh ya, what you describe is the problem that Marvholly was having. Okay, how do I print the list? Now I understand why you guys are so PISSED OFF when you don't get the deals that you signed up for. How many people jump through the hoops and then don't even realize that they didn't get the deals that they were offered and signed up for? I love it when I get a great dealt there; but, in general, I think Safeway sucks.

Dancinmama wrote: Okay, one of the deals listed (can't remember if it was personal or not) was Sundrop soda @ $2 off of ONE 12-pk (exp 7/30). I have $1/1 peelies that don't expire until 8/31. Chances are that this will be on sale for the 4th. So will I get the sale price minus $2/per 12-pk. minus $1/1 for each one that I buy (i.e. sale price minus $3 for each)? |
I think the $2 off Sundrop in Just4U was a coupon and not a "discount". So according to your post above, I could not use the peelies. How about if they have a sale buy 2/get 3 free on soda? How would it work on that?

They gave me a bunch of what they call "personalized deals". The only ones that I added were the free eggs for signing up and the Breyer's ice cream which ends up not being as good a deal as what is in the ad. I am going to "think positive" and assume that it will get better in time.

FreeSalsaWhat rebate is this?

Just4U sounds like a good program - I think MPerks is meant to work a little like that, but in reality it has a lot of coupons for general merchandise (sporting goods, etc.) and not so many for fresh foods. Though they do seem to try to have personalized offers from time to time.

I am actually surprised how nicely SW has implemented this, because I know how hard it is to program for this - You have a regular price, a sale price, a personal price for the customer and the system automatically takes the lowest of all 3, applies the deal & discounts properly and then checks if you have a coupon saved on top of it and then takes paper Qs too. We can complain about it, but of all the stores that have all these deals, SW has the best program, if you know how to cherry pick the best deals.
I don't print out my deals anymore. My store has associates - young boys and girls with their ipad and I just login from there and show them my page. I have had only 1 issue so far with J4U and I have been doing it for the past 5 months. I also like that I get more produce & frozen veggies Q than anything else.
