So this morning I am wetting my hair down to come to work, I look at my hands and they are full of hair. It appears it is falling out. I contacted my DIL and asked if i could come over to get it buzzed off. You know I knew it was going to fall out and i thought i was ready for it, but when it happens, i guess i am not. But then i know that my hair doesnt make me the person i am, and that if losing my hair is the worse that happens to me, then i count myself as very lucky.

I know losing your hair shouldn't be a big deal but the initial shock & loss is real. I've seen every chemo patient I've known go through it. The two that I know best both opted for short styles once it grew back. Once the shock wears off you'll be fine. Hey at least it's summer, just remember a scarf or sun block if you go outside

Oh do I ever understand the shock of us girls losing our locks for whatever the reason. The good thing is.. Our locks eventually grow back.. Yours will too, Rene! And when your hair does, it will be more beautiful than before..

Not sure if i mentioned it but i have to give my mother hugs, because she found out last week or so ago that my little sister might have bone cancer, they have been running some tests and they see stuff and they dont see stuff they should. I knew they were testing her before i found out about mine, but she didnt want anything said to mom. Then mom gets my news and a few weeks after that she has to deal with hearing my little sister has it, i know she crys in her room. I feel sorry for my sister as she is 6 hours away so none of us have been able to go with her to her doctor appointments.

OMG! Sending good vibes to your entire family. I can't imagine. Stay close and support each other. I will be thinking of you.

Rene!! I used to chat with you on the MSN boards a few years ago with Ken, ride, and the gang. I've often wondered where you'd got to, and today I stumbled across this thread! I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through and you are in my prayers, woman. As I recall, you were a very strong and optimistic person and, Rene, I don't believe for a moment that you won't kick this!!!
If I were a little closer I'd come help you and your mom how ever I could. Keep up the good work, girl, and I'll be praying for your sister too.

Dom, thank you soo much they are beatiful.
So I went over to my son and dil on tuesday and had her buzz my hair. It is about 1/2inch long. I think i look pretty sassy. Going to see if I can make it my avitar, my dil took a picture of me and my son. My mom thought she was going to shave my head and wasnt sure she wanted to see it when i got home. She likes it. But i see that it is falling out right and left. I would guess by the end of next week or 2 weeks tops that i will be bald as a cue ball. Not sure what i am going to wear scrafs or hats but it will depend on how they feel at work. i dont want to make them uncomfortable but they seem to be ok with it right now, as i do my tube feedings at my desk.

Also pk, bulldohg and tartlet thank you guys for the cards.

AWWWWWWWWWW did I tell you guys that you are the best here. If not I just wanted to say again, how much all the posts mean so much to me. You guys keep my sprits up and let me know how many people out there care. Thank you all.

I have chemo in the morning, I am hoping it goes as well as the last time. I took friday off so that i can rest up over the weekend.

My little sister we still dont know what is wrong with her, she is in the hospital, she was getting blood transfusions, her white cells were going wild. But still no word on what she has or what they think is wrong. I hope she gets told something so they can let her know what they can start treating her for, or if there isnt a treatment that at least we would know, the waiting and not knowing is the hardest.

Best wishes for you tomorrow and I hope you don't feel too sick after. My best friend had chemo and lost her hair and she looked so good bald! She had a nice shaped head. And her hair grew back fast but she decided to keep it really short. It makes her look younger than she is.

Prayers for you and your sister. I hope she gets some good news soon.

UPdate. Chemo was 5 hrs 45 minutes, although i did have a dr appointment in there also. I got home and ate something, actually ate something and kept it down. I took a nap or zonked out at 6:30 and slept until 10:30. i am up now for a few hours drank a protien shake and at a granola bar. But am hitting the hay soon.

I am doing well no throwning up or queasiness, am tired or worn down a bit, otherwise doing well, no pain. I have to go in for a booster shot for red blood cells, that will hurt for a day or so, but nothing i cant handle. The dr wants me got for a ct scan before my next treatment so he can see if the cancer is being effected by the chemo. So hopefully by the next treatment we will know if chemo is working or not. I am hoping that by sept/oct we can do surgery to remove the tumor. That is all I know right now.
