I'm pissed at my BIL's sister. One reason I like YM is that participants can complain about the stupidity and inconsideration of friends and relatives in anonymity. My idiot BIL's sister complains about her brother and her children on Facebook! A month ago she complained that her brother, who lives quite a distance from her, does not come to visit their aging parents often enough. BIL is not on FB so wouldn't see the complaints. However, his two children are her FB friends and would see the complaint. What an uncomfortable position she put them in! Today BIL's sister posted that her step-daughter and step-daughter in law gave her nice flowers for Mother's Day, "but the people I gave birth to, major disappointment....... " Huh? Saying that about her two teenage sons on FB??? What kind of mother does that??? Do you have friends who post what you consider inappropriate comments on FB? Have you un-friended someone because of their comments or actions on FB?

My MIL wrote a big message on FB about President Obama's endorsement of gay marraige and how he was leading us down a path of evil, yadda yadda yadda. And her openly gay son lives with her and got all upset and it got my SIL upset and they both called my wife and got her upset.. Sheesh.

Oh yes (those are the most fun!) I don't think I've ever unfriended anyone because of comments, but I've set quite a few people so that they can't see my updates, and vice versa. One of DH's cousins is a militant vegan - I had to hide her updates because I was tired of seeing pictures of mutilated animals every time I opened Facebook. Several other acquaintances/distant family members seem to use FB solely as a way to passively-aggressively vent about their spouse and/or ex. Invariably this ends up with an angry FB post about "backstabbers" who "show X my posts just to start drama," and then a vent about cleaning out their friends lists. Yeah, it's just the people passing along the posts who are starting drama... when you live in a town of 10,000 and have 1,000 Facebook friends, it's totally reasonable to expect that the target of your posts will never see them A good 10% of my Facebook friends are there only for train-wreck entertainment purposes. I don't like drama in my own life but love living vicariously through others! ;D

Either one that employs Jewish guilt, or one that employs Catholic guilt, of course.

Of all my facebook friends, my aunt is the worst about being overly dramatic and saying things she shouldn't on facebook. Her daughter actually unfriended her and I don't blame her one bit. I haven't unfriended my aunt, but I try to ignore her.
I try not to being too bitchy or start drama on facebook, but I did snap at my SIL on facebook after the muffler fell off my car. I just commented about how embarressing it was to drive without a muffler and she made a comment about how it was a VW so what did we expect. I got pissed. The car has 185k miles and is 14 years old. The muffler falling off is almost routine maintenance at this point. I made a comment about that and acknowledged that her VW is POS (13 recalls), but ours has been great to us and she backed off and agreed with me.

You can hide her, so her comments won't show up on your feed. That way you won't be tempted to call her out on some of her baloney - but she won't know that you aren't paying attention either.

Most of my fb friends are pretty mellow for the most part. My brother was unfriended because he was always trying to start shit. He would scroll through our pages to see who's posts we commented on and try to read those (if their settings were open enough) and than start drama about that. He would tattle to my mom and be all "Sheila said that alcohol is the best way to get through a family reunion on fb" Never mind that it was a joke and suggestion to help someone else get through a family reunion. Always stirring up shit so DSis and I have both unfriended him and most everyone else that we know that are friends with him have him blocked. I could do with out the daily devotionals given that I am an atheist but I just scroll past all of those and subject them to my posts that the government needs to legalize gay marriage

I've never gotten along with my sister, but after an incident last Thanksgiving - when she posted "What I meant to say was, I've seen dogs with better manners than your son" I gave up and unfriended her. I also recently blocked her, because just seeing her comment on other people's posts made me think of it and just get really mad.

Ouch! Although, I've known some pretty well behaved dogs. I remember several that were far superior being than me.

Yep, my step-sister. She was a fund raiser for those in the hospital, usually children. I was getting more and more feeds where she was releasing personal health information on Facebook. I got uncomfortable as to what info she was releasing, so unfriended her.

I get a lot of politics complaining from my family. Whenever someone does it to much I just take them out of my feed so I don't see their messages. That way they don't get insulted that we're no longer "friends" and I don't have to read their crap.

FB drama greatly amuses me, because I am not a nice person.
I have a FB friend who constantly writes lengthy posts about her life as a SAHM. Some of them present a very Pollyanna picture of the whole thing, and others are deeply bitter and rather inconsistent diatribes about how unappreciated she is (or, in the alternative, passive-aggressive posts about how awful public schools are and how much her kids are "missing out on" by being homeschooled).
Should she get a single negative comment on any of it, she'll post a lengthy rant about how she can't even be herself on Facebook. Not always on Facebook.
It's just funny to me. If you're happy with your choices in life then why do you feel the need to constantly defend them to a group of strangers you probably don't even like? I've never gotten that.

I have hidden my mom and most of her family on my news feed. I get tired of the daily devotionals and usually the hypocrisy that goes with them. I hid a friend from HS because he is a and belongs on PM. His rants are so ridiculous and so bizarre. He believes his soul is an alien as well. My BIL and SIL deleted me because he was a FB Nazi and had issue with me saying I was going to lift my shirt for beads while in New Orleans and I called him a judgmental asshole. I wasn't upset at all...they like to make comments about how I am not a good Christian wife (well DUH...I am not Christian!), how I am selfish because I went back to school instead of continuing to be a SAHM. She got pissed off at me when I responded that I need more of an identity than just being Goose's little wifey poo. SIL would also post things about how her son would pray when he took a poop, how she only lets the read books about God, you get the picture. Other than that...most people are pretty normal on my FB...well if you don't count those people from EE that I friended.

Oh and I have a neighbor who ranted about me because she felt like I didn't spend enough time with her and always hung out with my BFF. She didn't say my name, but anyone who knew us knew she was talking about me. I emailed her privately and called her out on it. I had invited her to do things with me several times and she either said no she didn't have money, she would cancel at the last minute, or she was too sick...constantly said she was sick. So I gave up.
She never responded to my email and she blocked me from being able to see her status. That is fine with me. Most of them were bullshit anyway. I guess she really did NOT like me calling her out on her Bullshit even though I did it privately. Eh...life goes on.

I blocked a girl who was very young and getting married. She ended up marrying someone my neice had a crush on for years, and then posted about how absolutely in love she was with her boyfriend/fiance/husband (whatever their current status was.) It was so pointless and immature - it just bored me, period - but adding the level that I knew my neice's feelings got hurt just made it irritating. I mentioned to my sister that I had her blocked because I couldn't take the love fest any longer, she said that now she is decorating her house, so every post is about a chair or paint color. That wouldn't be annoying to me, but I can't figure out how to un-hide someone.

Just hid her. I think I found the unhide feature, but none of her stuff showed up. Maybe they will magically appear when I log on next.

I have a couple FB friends who keep posting they're sick of the drama and then dive right in. It's amusing. More amusing than the daily Jesus affirmation from my cousin. Or the guy who just broke up with his wife and is mewling about how lonely he is. Oh, who am I kidding, that amusues me too. He even put on there the other day if anyone had any pants to give him since he lost weight and his wife took all his money so he can't afford new pants. Now that was funny.

Oh geez, those are the best. I have seriously had to have DH take the computer away from me a couple of times after reading a rant from his (deliberately) unemployed cousin about X group "sucking up our tax dollars..." I want to say "WHOSE tax dollars, exactly? And where do the food stamps you've received for the past 5 years fit into that scheme?" Good thing DH is around to stop me from being such a bitch.

LOL...oh, that reminds me of my niece...she has $50K in student loans and makes $10/hr working as a billing assistant in a doctor's office...anyway, she posted "Obama, what are you going to do about my loans"....then she went on to bash the school for "conning" her into a useless degree...keep in mind, this was the same niece I tried to talk out of her degree (marine biology) and her answer was "but I love dolphins"!lol I had a reply to her but my husband wouldn't let me his send (it's his sister's daughter).....on the plus side, some of her friends got on her ass to accept responsibility for her decisions!lol

I've unfriended two people, both were just high school friends, nobody I was even close with then. One just annoyed me one too many times with the sheer volume of back to back posts, all "funny or inspirational photos". I really did not want to scroll through your 40 posts to find ones I actually might WANT to see, so, I just deleted her. The other was a guy who was always posting girlfriend drama..."she left me to go back to her ex that beats her" then, "oh, we're getting married" then "oh, she left me again", then after the latest beak up was posting almost pornographic photos of women daily and commenting on them. Uh, no thanks...buh-bye to you. My SIL unfriended me because I called her out on some stupid crap she pulled. No loss, she's a crazy biatch...overall, my FB friends are pretty boring...LOL!
