Jen, you chubby-chaser. I like feeling safe and secure - how's a twiggy guy gonna protect me from the big bad world? Plus you like knowing youcan outrun him if it comes down to it. I think honesty is only a virtue when the issue is both important and fixable. No point in telling somebody a negative truth if the topic in question is unimportant or if they can't change it.

I never ask the question, and neither does DH. Although he did get dressed once and I immediately made him change.... (He's been holding on to a few items from the 80's that really need to go!) Sometimes I wait for DW to pick my clothes. Saves time changing after I dress myself.

Ken, LOL!!! DH and I ask each other's opinion like "Which looks better?" when we can't decide. What makes me laugh is DH will wear something that he's worn once before and ask me if I like it or if it's "nice enough" for where we are going. I'll say "Yes. It looks great on you. Just like it did the last time." I really should win Wife of the Year sometimes.

POM, men wear clothes more then once, and don't care if people going to an event have seen their outfit before.

Men wouldn't have to lie if women were better at handling the truth.

So, here's the scenario. A married couple are getting ready to go out for the evening for the first time since their baby was born a couple months previously. The wife walks out of the closet and asks her husband, "How do I look?"
There's a long, LONG road between a white lie about someone's appearance and tampering with birth control against the other party's wishes and without their knowledge.
But fair enough, I'll play. Honesty IS the best policy, so find SOMETHING about her appearance that is flattering.
"I love that shirt, the color is very flattering on you."
"I like your hair curled that way."
"That's a great dress."
Boom, done, she feels pretty and you don't even have to lie.
I don't want to be told I look gorgeous/thin if I don't, but I don't want DH to knock me down a million pegs because he's trying to be honest either.

Hoops, your wife is a lucky woman I have a feeling she's a knockout, so yeah, she is pretty lucky not to have much to criticize

I was just lied to by somebody I trusted with my life. It wasn't malicious. He thought I would be more upset by the truth? What kind of idiot thinks that?
Point is? I will never trust him again. It will always be there. A relationship is ruined. Yes. The truth would have upset me but it wouldn't have been a deal breaker. Lying is.
Honesty really is the best policy.

" what the heck did he lie about? Nope. I'd never get upset at something as silly as mayo. But damn. He swore he liked brown mustard and I am a faithful brown user. He could have just SAID he liked yellow. I would have gotten over it.
