So the funeral is Friday at 11, and I have an ultrasound at 9am that's pretty important and they need to do before I'm much further along (testing for down's and such). Not that the results will change what we do, but will just prepare us if something is wrong. So Blue is insisting we keep the appointment, and we'll just have to scurry to the funeral after. Going to be a stressful day. I'm just actually grateful they are on the same day because now it's one day off instead of two. I'm running low on days off with all these doctor's appointments. I'm hoping this is my last ultrasound until 16 weeks, a month from now. Then I know I have another at 20 weeks. This every 3 weeks thing, while awesome to see them, is getting a little old, especially when my doctor wants to see me every 2-3 weeks. These half days add up quickly.
And my parents are coming down to help us with projects around the house (have I mentioned how much I love them?) this weekend. It's not the best time for it now, but it's one of few weekends we are all free so we're keeping our plan. So while we're funeral-ing, they'll be staining our new window we had put in in November. They are seriously the best. I can't do the stainwork because of fumes, and Blue isn't so good at staining, so this will give it time to air out before we get home. Then Saturday we're finishing the fence (by we, I mean blue and my stepdad) and my mom will help me with some more gardening stuff I need to do before the weeds take over along the back of the house. We're also going to plan out the nursery. I'm so excited to get stuff done. Oh, and if we have time we're going to get the electrical run for the pool and get that cranking. I so missed it last year, and I know being preggo in summer, I'll want that pool! So, a busy weekend ahead, but it'll be fun because it's my parents. I so look forward to their visits!
Now we just need to make it through two nights of wakes and the funeral itself. Oh, and blue has to move his brother out of college tonight because his parents obviously can't really do that right now. Which means he loses his one free night for schoolwork. His new class is very reading intensive and he's stressing already about being able to do it. I wish I could do it for him but that's not really allowed. lol.
Anyways. muttley - glad you have a plan in place!
rocky - ooh ren faire! I've always wanted to go to one. My aunt and her hubby go a lot. One of these days I'm going to tag along.

Crap. Blue's birthday is the 25th. I have no idea what to get him... does buying a lawnmower he was going to buy anyways count?

red- When my grandparents were married- my grandfather would have been trilled to see a new lawnmower! Especially paired with dinner. (And his lovely wife of course)

red--when i was pregnant, i had biophysical profiles 2x/week along with weekly doctor appointments (starting at 30 weeks). i wound up going out of work early because I was spending more time in doctors' offices than at work.
thanks for all the input on the microphones. as it turns out, the one on my computer is just fine for the guest appearance (i didn't even know my computer HAD a microphone). if i wind up doing more podcasts (as a guest. i have zero plans to start my own), i might look at buying one. and now i have a good list to choose from! and i kept my no spend days in tact (i have one spend day but that was for my house. i've spent zero unplanned dollars on myself this month).
for those who are interested, i'm going to attempt to share the link to the podcast on my site's facebook fan page (so if you want to hear it and you don't "like" me, you should:) ) and eventually, it'll be on my site.

Yesterday was an NS. Today should be too. oops! I guess it was a CS yesterday I had a groupon for a photobook that expired yesterday, so I had to pay the shipping on that, but it was only $5.
Red- I know my DH would love a new lawn mower. Last year I got cast iron skillets as you've been married longer I think you fall into getting each other something you know they want and will use, even if it is for a task that isn't all that fun.
VENT- My boss is driving me crazy. We have staff meetings where we look at distribution of events between our two locations and we always say that we want more at our HQ than our satellite office because there is less cost and most people prefer that location or have no preference. But for the year it is the other way around and when I bring up to my boss she tells me to deal with it. The other person is another director not my employee. ugghhh! I hate that she doesn't like confrontation so she fobs off this crap to me.

I really wanted to get him Book of Mormon tickets but the cheapest tix (the ones I can afford) are sold out at least through May 2013, and they aren't selling any beyond that. So frustrating. Been trying for two years to get in to that show, but I'm not paying $200 a ticket! Perhaps the lawnmower is the way to go. I'll see if my stepdad will shoot out to Home Depot with me this weekend to help me pick one.

Woke up today feeling sick so I've been working on quiet projects from the couch. Blue eyes was really sweet, he found out I was sick and we just spent 45 min on skype working together. One of the main benefits of my schedule Also, so dang proud of him for closing his first solo client yesterday!! For someone who left his job less than 2 mo ago it's been great to see him getting clients who are paying $50-75/hour for his expertise. Anywho, hopefully a no spend day today - yesterday I picked up dog food at Costco and had to refill the gas tank but nothing too bad. Glad I did that yesterday otherwise the dogs would be eating people food today.

Well, as expected, yesterday was a spend day. But I also returned some unused party supplies, so I really only spent about $9 including the credits and the snood I bought online. So that worked out okay in the end! Today should be a CSD, as Wednesdays usually are. The day is just too packed to do any shopping!

Yesterday was another NS. WooHoo!!!
Not much going on, DH is wrapping up the school year and that means lots of late nights for end of the year concerts and graduation. So we are just trying to get through to next Wednesday when DH is off school for the summer!
One of my BF's father died yesterday, so I will be spending most of my PTO day on Friday at the funeral.

There's a game called Snood? LOL, I didn't know that! No, it's kind of a crochet hair net. I use it cover up my hair at the Ren Faires when I'm in costume, hiding the fact that I have short hair. Like this: snoods.com/

ooh purdy. no, snood is a highly addicting basic computer game. I played it a lot around 2004. I might have to hunt it down online now...

Yesterday was finally a no spend. Today, I'm feeling rather miserable, so will probably end up going out for lunch again. So far this pregnancy, salad and pasta has been my make everything better meal. I still have some of my allowance left. Of course it is almost gone and I'm only a 1/4 of the way through the time it has to last. Being pregnant is terrible for my food budget. Fortunately, DH has stepped up and I only have to cook at home if I am feeling like it.
But Saturday I don't have the choice about cooking. My parents and Uncle are bringing our new to us tractor with a mower, blade, scoop and I think some other stuff. All-in-all we are getting 2 trailers full of farm implemants. DH committed us to doing steaks on the grill and having beer for my dad and uncle (they are bringing us between $7k and $10k worth of equipment). So, I'm thinking my family staple of Potatoes, Carrots, and onions on the grill, Asparagus, and Fruit salad and then Angel Berry Trifle for desert. It will end up being a pretty expensive meal (by my standards), but I won't have that much to actually do. At supper, we are going to tell me parents that they are going to be Grandparents for the 7th (and likely last time). The last 3 times I've seen them they have talked about how much weight I've lost and now I'm already showing a belly (so pathetic, I'm only 7 weeks; I had to unbutton my pants at work yesterday afternoon). So, I'm not sure how surprised they will be. It should be fun.

Muttley - I hear you on the food budget. Now that I'm not nauseous all the time we're finally doing better, but for a long time there I couldn't think to plan ahead for meals because I just didn't know what I'd want. I still have days I can't process the thought of making myself lunch to take to work. Today is one of those days - probably going to be a soup day. Have fun telling your parents! Sorry it's making you have to cook. Maybe tell them earlier in the day, then make them cook?

They aren't going to arrive until midafternoon (probably 2 at the earliest, maybe as late as 4). So, we'll be bookin' it to get everything unloaded and then the trailers loaded back up so my uncle can take them home in the morning and the relax and they can enjoy DS and we can enjoy our supper.

Hey all! Been very busy lately but productive.
Muttley: We use netflix streaming through our Wii and watch that 95% of the time. You can always up your church donations when you are better able to. Glad you are feeling better about your budget. I swear after my first child my stomach muscles waived the white flag with the next two and I showed very quickly.
Red: We gave up giving each other gifts early on in our relationship. Neither one of us is particularly materialistic and it saved a lot of stress not worry about gifts, plus the money. Sorry to hear about Blue's DGM. Watch out for some of those pregnancy tests, they have a high rate of false positives. In fact I didn't do a few of them because of it. I suppose with twins you get to see the doctor a lot. I saw mine once a month starting at 12 weeks and the last month weekly for one, the other two the last month I still only saw them once a month due to various reasons.
dakota: You have e-mail and will have more after I can think more. I am dealing with a migraine or at least the after effects.

The housing hunt continues and I'm already pretty sick of it. It looks like 3 bedroom options are hard to come by and I really, really want 3 bedrooms. I'm thinking we may have to go the house/townhouse route. I actually found two mobile home communities that look super nice and very family friendly. The biggest problem we seem to be having is all the nicer places are pretty luxury oriented and don't seem family friendly but the family oriented places seem pretty old and ghetto. I can't believe I'm even considering a mobile home community but that's probably just my stereotypes showing . I just can't pass up a freestanding home that looks really, really nice for under $1K.

Sbcali- my mil lives in a super nice mobile home park. It is definitely a place I would consider. Dh owned a manufactured home with his brother when we got married and it was a lot nicer than our rental house and their mortgage payment was less than our rent!

sbcali: In the NW, manufactured homes are super common, and not looked down on at all! Note that they're "manufactured homes" rather than "mobile homes". To me, mobile homes are trailers, but I had a VERY nice manufactured home on an acre of land when I lived in OR. I loved it! Rocky Mtn. Saver: 5/31 NSD, 5/31 CSD (<$5). Yesterday was a CSD. I don't know what today will be, but tomorrow will be a spend day. I have to pick up some beverages to take to a memorial service for a friend's son.

I'm a little behind, but, Tuesday was a spend, yesterday was a CS. Today should be a CS too. Fighting a horrific migraine today and probably won't last the whole day at work. Need to go home and go to bed...

Yesterday was a spend, got the tablet delivered for mini-D and decided that a screen protector was a must have. So I ordered that and a case to put it in.

mitten - when combined with the bloodwork the NT scan has a pretty high accuracy rate, but I'm not going to let results freak me out either way. Heard a lot of stories about false "positives". I really just want it because it's an hour of looking at my babies up close and detailed! And yes, lots of ultrasounds and doctor's appts. This is my third ultrasound, and I think I'll go to getting them monthly instaed of every 3 weeks after this one. And my doctor sees me ever 2-3 weeks. Hoping that lets up a bit for the second trimester, but we'll see. It's using up all my vacation time, which is annoying, but worth it to make sure they are okay!
sbcali - wishing you luck on your search!
Wake #2 tonight. I'm not used to two days of wakes. It's draining. But at least today is my Friday.

I'm still super-annoyed that I got a scratch on my iPod, and that's just a tiny iPod! It was an expensive luxury for me, with my budget, so I kick myself for letting it get scratched. That scratch mocks me!

I am so far behind on the post. Life just keeps getting busier and busier, in a good way at least. My daughter's softball team won three straight tournament games putting them into the championship game on Monday. These games are destined to give me an ulcer. Speaking of my daughter she wrote a poem during Poetry Week at school using prompts and I love it. I posted it on my blog today you can read it here anotherhousewife.com/?p=2397 I don't know where I stand on NSD days but I know I came in under budget on several line items but blew it on eating out with Mr. C I'll tally my days today. Red: Sorry to hear about Blue's grandma. So sad and helpless feeling to see your hubby hurt. As for lawnmower as a gift, I say YES if it something that Blue wants. Like Dakota said, there comes a point in a marriage when taboo gifts become more than acceptable if the other person really wants them. DH bought me a kitchenaide mixer for Christmas and I was more than thrilled. I have also bought him a work bench, tool chest and a lazy boy recliner (not all at once) as gifts and he still uses them today. Of course that was before we started to live life cc free! Red, Mrs. L, and Honey: (anyone else I missed) THANK YOU so much for your support of the article on blog her. I'll try and catch up later. Happy No Spending!

azmom - thanks for your input! I think I'm either going to get him the lawnmower or a cordless drill set, another item he's looked at home depot a lot lately. I just need to figure out a way to get my stepdad there this weekend, without blue, to help me pick one out.
gifts - I generally really like getting people presents, moreso than getting them myself. It's just when I can't think of anything it gets stressful. I was pumped for the Book of Mormon idea, but that's not going to work. I told blue about it and he appreciated the effort lol. So now he thinks he's getting nothing. Silly boy. My mom was easy for mother's day this year - grandkids! lol

mizbear: I forgot to mention that I have been on WIC for years and that it is very obvious and usually very tedious as many cashiers don't know how to do it and many of them items are not set up in the system. I really don't mind WIC since they list exactly what you can purchase, but when I worked at a little grocery store the one thing that I hated was when people would abuse food stamps and purchase crap with them. I don't think less of people for using them. I guess I don't notice how most people pay I am like most and judge people by what they are purchasing regardless of WHAT they are buying. WIC saved me when I needed to purchase formula for DD and DS#1 since it is SO expensive.
Day 3 of a Migraine, could it just GO AWAY!
Oh and Muttley Congrats on the baby!

Unexpectedly got an escrow refund check from our refinance. Sweet. I triple-checked that this was accurate and we really can cash it. So I think I'll pay off my Chase card and put the rest into the baby fund. Making progress, slowly but surely!
