Hey everybody! I haven't been posting lately for a couple of reasons: 1) we've been gardening a lot lately and have been helping our daughter look for a house. 2) just haven't seen much in the way of a deal to be excited about. I have been lurking sometimes though. Hope everybody is well. I haven't read the whole April thread, but I've read back a few pages and haven't noticed anybody post about the Ken's salad dressing deal at Albertson's this weekend. Albertson's has them on sale for 99c with an in-ad coupon good Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, limit 2. There was a $1/1 coupon on the front of the 3/11 SS, making them free. I don't usually get many inserts, but luckily got a windfall of those, so I'm going to be stocking up, two at a time! Leanna, it's been a long time, but when our son was young, we kept him on the Feingold diet. He was hyperactive/ADD and it helped him a lot. Those things get easier as you get used to them. After a while, you'll know which products are likely to have the additives you want to avoid. Good luck with it-- hope it works well for you!

It's pretty sad in the hounding world when I'm excited that I got free and cheap store brand condiments this week...sigh...our local chain had Facebook coupons that made their mustard and ketchup free, small mayo .50, BBQ sauce .19 and Salad dressing .33.
The pepsi next 12 packs were a good deal at Wags this week. My store had them 2/5.98, minus $2/2 IVC and giving a $3 RR, so, only .98 for 2 12 packs. Best soda deal I've seen in a long time. I don't love it, but, it's not bad. Then a made the "rookie mistake" (guess I'm just out of practice at wags) of buying coffee and a single bottle of pepsi next, using the $3 pepsi RR. Sigh...oh well...it was only .99. Also got a few large bags of Easter MM's at wags. They were ringing up 75% off (.94) and there's $1/2 IVC in the monthly book. So .44 a bag for large bags of MM's. My coworkers will be happy cuz I always keep a full candy dish. Lol!
That's all I got...

The key to the current "couponing game" is patience. While you're waiting for the free/cheap couponing deals to come around, use your price books to stockpile items that you find at rock bottom prices. Yes, the abundance of freebies seems to have gone the way of the dinosaur, but there is still a lot of money to be saved out there.
I'm curious as to what you GC gals are doing for coupons these days. I imagine the clipping services are seeing a downtrend in requests for whole inserts. It's amazing how quickly things can change.
Is Extreme Couponing still on? With so many stores discontinuing their doubled coupons and restrictions on manufacturer's coupons (4 per transaction type of thing), I doubt it will be much of a draw in the near future.

That made me take another look at the ad and it looks like gatorade is on sale for 79c. My son is sick and I have been buying gatorade and this is a great deal. Thank you.

This sounds more like a crime ring considering how well thought out this was. How much does anyone want to bet this ends with more policies to tighten coupon use when the real problem is hiring criminals.

I went into WAGs today to pick up one more of the NasalEase. We're getting low on mayonnaise and I thought if nothing else, I'd use the $9RR to pick up a couple of jars. WRONG!! The price of a 30 oz. jar of Kraft mayo was almost $7. What the hell?

I went to Acme today to pick up the Ken's salad dressing. (we only got the $1/2 so not free but the best deal in a while on it) the regular price that came up on my receipt was $4.29 for a bottle of dressing. No wonder people are complaining about the price of food!

Yeah, I'm not usually a big fan of store brand mayo, but when I was able to get it for .50 a small bottle after q this week, I grabbed 2.

I think Target has the best price on mayo even if there is no sale. If I want the Kraft sandwich shop mayo (chipotle - yummm) and don't see any sales, I usually buy from Target - the 12 oz is priced for 2.49 and may be lower for many other places. But regular prices at WAGs & CVS are crazy.

marvholly- I live in the city (near north side). I have family in the near NW suburbs and sometimes shop there. Recently I went to a grocery store in the city and only purchased lemonade and apple juice, both in half gallons, and realized that the city is charging me 14.5% tax on those items!! Food tax, regular tax, and city bottle tax, even though they were not individual sized bottles. Going to try to do more food shopping in the 'burbs. I have several Wags - naturally the closest is super NOT coupon friendly. I stopped using coupons there at all, as I dread the animosity at my local place. My other Wags are coupon pretty close to neutral. My CVS' are all pretty great. I will check out those local blogs - thanks so much! Agree with you re Jill C. Some people love her, but a lot of her deals seem to involve stores in the farther out 'burbs, and the "my way or the highway" doesn't work for me either.

I totally forgot about Albs this week...they've got the coupon round-up going on. Yeah, it actually doesn't sound too difficult honestly. I avoid certain preservatives anyway, because I'm allergic (nitrates). I bought a box of crackers and a box of ginger snaps from Whole Foods, so snacks are taken care of. I think the only thing that's going to be a nuisance is my fave candy - York peppermint patties. I tried the Sunspire one the other day and it is yummy! But $1.89 for a tiny candy bar - yikes!

I think EC has run it's course and has done it's damage. If it's still on (we have cable, I only watched it a couple of times) I wouldn't know. It was "un" reality tv for us. As a family of two and our girl Sierra, we hadn't had need of purchasing extra coupons from a clipping service. I don't t feel sorry for them though. We get a Sunday Chicago Tribune, (.50/week, delivered) and the local paper. If upon review of the pre-lists of coupons from local bloggers and the web, IF I wanted an extra set for more than ONE coupon, I have the option of the Dollar Store that's less than a mile from where I live. Otherwise, a few people I work with that don't use the product that I'm looking at are nice enough to share, and I do the same for them. For "current" deals, I haven't seen anything worthwhile that I want to try (or pay high tax on) We have a decent stockpile of cleaning supplies, shampoo, health care, paper products and pantry items. I guess that's why I don't post much. I'm not buying much. (Dairy, meat and produce is about it.) I do shop Aldi and more Independents than I have in the past due to, I feel, ALL big box stores raising prices and coupon value/limits etc dropping. ETA: Bottom line, before, if a store (CVS, Wags, etc) wanted me to "buy" a product with a reward attached, I would consider it and roll the rewards. The food pantry usually benefited from it. Wags and CVS has changed, so, I'm sorry to say, not too much now is going to charity. EC has done it's job.

Dancin WAGs frequently runs both Kraft & Hellmans mayo on sale or store coupon. You might want to check upcoming sales to see if it’s coming up. Personally, I just buy Aldi brand.
Hinil DD2 LOVES Jill C. I know all the bloggers I mentioned are in the western burbs around Naperville but I still find them helpful.
DD1 lives in the NW burbs so I am familiar w/the area & some shopping places. Try Valli produce on Golf Rd about ½ - 1 mi east of the mall where Meijer is. Their produce special are generally VERY good & their meat is decent. Added benefit-Aldi is right next to them.
From the north side of the city to get to the NW burbs you either have to pass my area or take 90/290. If you do surface streets or want me to show you MY great places PM me. I have several GREAT independent/ethnic/produce markets in Skokie, Morton Grove, Niles and DesPlaines.
Many times it can be worth the extra miles to drive to Evanston, Skokie or Lincolnwood (closest burbs to city, north) to pay the lower tax. I know I stopped buying gas in my town when they added a 0.03/gal gas tax and I am right next to 2 towns without it and pass at least 2 more every week.

Truth is, I don't even miss it and I was that midwestern girl that ate mayo on my hot dogs. (I know--yuck!). Never had the cholesterol problem before menopause. Between that and keeping the pounds off, I'd rather have the monthly visit from mother nature!

Apparently the get $5 oyno wyb 2 Pantene products at Meijer works with the travel size, which makes it a $3 money maker. Worked for me this afternoon, but you have to do separate transactions. The deal lasts until the 28th, and the $5 coupons are good for 2 weeks from the date they print. HTH
I have a couple things I want to get at CVS and Target this week, and a few at Meijer, but I'm not seeing a lot of gotta-have sales this week.

I'm convinced of it and am seriously considering bioidenticals. I can't take hormone replacement therapy as I've had two lumpectomies and my mom passed away from breast cancer. There's a cholesterol/heart attack risk calculator online where you can enter your personal info: age, weight, LDL, HDL etc. and it will tell you what your risk of heart attack is. I was soooo upset at my last cholesterol results until DD2 (the med student) took me to the calculator. My HDL is also very high (all that walking/hiking) so my risk is 1%. Still, my personal doc mentioned statins to me. I hate taking pills so I'm going to continue with my high fiber/low fat diet (with the occasional treat) and my walking/hiking regimen.

CVS: I have a $15.00 CRT on any Physician's Formula. Do I have to buy $15.00 or more, adjust it down or get overage? Next week they're offering a $7.00 ECB when you buy any PF cosmetics. I don't think I've ever had a CRT that large.

I remember when I first started following the grocery challenge and I was so intimidated by the large # of pages, then the monthly format used to have 15, 20, 25+ pages by now. And here we are with one week left in the month and we're at 11 pages. Sadly, there are so few deals to discuss. It makes me sad. I bought one paper today, just so my SO could read it. Not even for the coupons because there isn't $2.50 worth of coupons that I'll use out of the insert. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy shampoo/conditioner without a stock up price. We're down to using little sample packets of shampoo at my house.
