As 1 person I would like to have 1 small plastic bag TOTAL[garbage+recycle] per week as that seems ideal to me Read more: notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fun&action=display&thread=2041&page=1#ixzz1Bi5z1Si4There is an easy answer to all, this, grow your own garden, raise your own pig and cow and you are all set. Now if you dont like that Idea, take your 5 gallon plastic bucket down to the soup kitchen and tell them to fill it up, and use the bucket again. no waste al all.

14-21 lbs of meat a week? A week? Geez, you must be as big as a horse! You need protein? You can get protein without eating meat and for a whole lot less $$. Change that to 14-21 lbs of produce and cut the meat down to one lb a week. And drink tap water.
A dumpster load of garbage? Surely you jest.
And what's "shave day"? if I may ask. You shave the pits and the drumsticks on shave day? I'm hoping that shave day is daily (please, God, let it be daily...).
Deb, no offense, but you're a mess. There must be a 12-step program that can help.

Glad somebody else brought up shave day. I was curious too, but already giving her crap about the bottle water habit. Didn't want to pile on too much.

i can see the pound of veggies, i suppose.. but an average portion of meat is what... 4-6 OUNCES? an upper end portion 3 times a day is still barely over 1 pound..

A pound of bacon for breakfast.
A pound of meat for sandwiches for lunch.
Another pound of meat for dinner...a one-pound steak?
Holy buckets, woman! You gotta cut back. Really. I mean it.

Seriously... my family of 4 only eats (on average) 4-5lbs of meat per WEEK!! TOPS!! Then again, I'm pretty sure Deb is just screwing around so whatever. And vegetables don't produce waste if you're eating them and putting the leftover bits in a compost bin

If Deb is screwing around, there's probably a 12-step program for that, too. Just sayin'.

Since a serving of protein is approx 5 oz and it is recommended 1 or at most 2 serving per day. 2-3lbs would be enough to feed 3 to 9 people for a day. Talk about a heart attack waiting to happen. I think that would put my cholesterol up in the 1k range.

I work out[not as much as I'd like time constraints] Breakfast protein shake usually w/in 30 min of waking up because I'm hungry.
Then chicken wings[packed from home] in car on way to work ~2 hours later Salmon+few veggies-packed from home
At work broasted chicken-that I pack 3-5 orders of herbed chicken breast with 10 hard boiled eggs no yolks-from cafeteria with larger serving of veggies Or 4 hamburger patties [w/veggies in between patties] + HB eggs-from cafeteria
right when I get home from work ~12 oz of meat protein Nuts+protein shake just before bed

I'm eating and lifting weights to build muscle.
There is this older woman who looks better than me and not only can she lift more weight than me but eats a 9-10 egg white omlette with 5-6 oz chicken for breakfast and I can barely do a protein shake.

The protein shakes can never be a complete food replacement. That would be a great solution to the garbage and food shopping problem.

Deb, how many total calories are you eating in a day? that sounds like way more than what it should be unless you're wanting to compete ...

I recycle the glass bottles. Does recycling add to the carbon foot print? My goal is 1 to 2 lbs of veggies per day. I'm going to do an experiment this week and make vegetable smoothies.

I don't think the amount of food I eat per day would get me in the Guiness book of world records by a long shot.

It's not a balanced healthy diet and if you are in fact eating as much as you say I wouldn't recommend it for an extended length of time. Are you eating any complex carbohydrates? As a doctor I think you would recognize what a strain this puts on your kidneys. i don't believe she's really a doctor. she's here too much.

I'd like to do this not for an extended period of time but until 1st- I get my muscle mass up and get my exercise routine worked out to keep up with a 1% muscle mass loss per year. ~Every 8-12 weeks I add .5 to 1 lb to my weight bar,[yes, it's a slow process but I don't like my muscles to be sore]for a goal~50% body weight.
