As G20 chases growth goal, members differ on how to get there
(Reuters) - Financial leaders of the Group of 20 top economies remain committed to chasing higher global growth, but were divided on how to achieve it as Germany pushed back at calls from the United States and others for more immediate stimulus.

Opening a meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bankers, Australian Treasurer Joe Hockey outlined on Saturday an ambitious agenda of boosting world growth, fireproofing the global banking system and closing tax loopholes for giant multinationals.

"We have the opportunity to change the destiny of the global economy," said Hockey, who back in February launched a campaign to add 2 percentage points to world growth by 2018 as part of Australia's presidency of the G20.

Dear Fellow Liberals: I’m Done Apologizing for Israel

As a liberal American Jew, I’m tired of apologizing for Israel’s actions regarding its own security, and as of last month, I’m done with it......

Facts are such nifty things, so solid, so sure. Yet we as a species don’t seem to cotton to them, especially when it comes to Jews.

In Pakistan, one human rights group estimates that 1,000 women are murdered in honor killings by their families every year. In Nigeria, Islamic militants have killed more than 1,500 people in 2014, according to Amnesty International. And the death toll from the slaughter in Syria—just spitting distance from Israel—adds up to a robust 191,000. But the world—or at least the world as personified by the British law professor with his fondness for exaggerationdoesn’t pay a lot of attention to these Muslim but non-Palestinian corpses. Nope: you’ve got to be a dead person in Gaza or Hebron to claim the world’s sympathy. Merely being an Arab, or a Muslim, doesn’t cut the mustard, because when Muslims are murdering other Muslims—like more than 2,400 Iraqis killed by other Iraqis in June of this year. The civilized world, or at least the chattering classes, does little more than shrug.

How are they going to get growth is the million dollar question. The BIS standards are holding lending back to a degree, but how many trillions have been put into the banking system to clean up the mess that it was/is? I mean, the whole idea of the BIS is to make a more solvent system and if we don't try to fix it, all that would have happened is more or the same. Before these sanctions the German economy was growing. As you know they have very generous social programs - not unlike the PIGS. So why isn't their growth? Innovation and work? From what I understand, the Chinese community in Spain has done very well. Too bad the CPC govt is the big problem in the east now.

It worked in Germany and Canada, until outside forces intervened in Germany's case. Canada - we are looking at reverberations from China. I don't think it will take the focus off balanced budgets though.

It would have worked for Hoover too had the necessary steps been taken to recapitalize - might have even stopped the need for the biggest economy in the world to move to a socialized model. Kinda like the ECB right now, only problem is the dependency on social programs. However, recapitalization would have lead to slow growth and the ability to get govt debt under control. But hey, let's just create bonds to buy govt bonds and hope for growth!

Germany 1920 wasn't saved by their socialized model for two big reasons; isolation and ideology. Kind like right now, Russia isolated them and their migrant population is filled to the brim with ideology..

The thing is Bills, it really wouldn't. The conflict in the first place is over an imaginary problem; in that Muslims have no actual connection to Jerusalem.(now backed by Egyptian Muslim Scholar)

You see, the reason Jewish people were allowed to immigrate to Israel in the 1930's and 40's was because the Arabs had a deal with Hitler as part of the Final Solution. I say allowed because the Muslims wanted to start killing them as soon as they got there - but that would have stopped the flee so the Arab leaders issued fatwas telling people to let the Jewish people live in peace.

Then Hitler lost, and Israel was made a real state again, and the Muslims were like, WHAT!!! And attacked Israel. Israel put them down, hard and then when the Muslims tried to ban together in 1967 and push the Jewish people into the Sea. Israel put them down, hard - again.

Since then the Muslims has successfully framed the entire middle east problem in two ways, 1)Oil because of the US(zionist) globalist "Jewish" enslavement of the world, and 2)The plight of the poor, poor Palestinian people that are abused by these evil "bloodsuckers" in Israel.

Sorry for the rant Bills, but the only solution that makes the Muslims happy is the destruction of Israel. If they get that, it does nothing to solve the larger issue of what the word Islam truly means. Stay .

I recognized that you did say how, it's always good to have a baseline for the discussion though, right?

The how is already forming, my friend. The Muslim reformation is the beginning of Muslims accepting that they always should have been Christian. This is a world wide political movement that is going to wipe out the whole "religion of peace" foundation of lies.

The second part; notice how there isn't even a mention of China in all the talk on P&M and current events? Yet, if we talk about jobs and economics around there, it's China this, China that. Yeah, it's called denial isn't just a river in Egypt. China is going to be the ground force need to route these aholes from their tunnels and caves.

The third part: in an act of desperation the Muslims are going to bring Israel into this thing - full force. So while we are busy in Europe and in North America rooting out and deporting, China, India, and Israel will be fighting Islam to its death.

Ban Ki-moon attacks 'increasingly restrictive' EU asylum policies

The UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, has hit out at “increasingly restrictive” European asylum policies in a speech to the Austrian parliament, which has voted to bring in some of the continent’s most stringent laws after a far-right politician won the first round of presidential elections.

Ban did not name any country in his speech but, considering the venue, his comments appeared to allude at least in part to ongoing Austrian moves to tighten its border controls and reduce the entry of asylum seekers.

“I am concerned that European countries are now adopting increasingly restrictive immigration and refugee policies. Such policies negatively affect the obligation of member states under international humanitarian law and European law,” he told MPs.

The parliament’s lower house voted on Wednesday in favour of a law that will allow police to reject asylum seekers at the border and to stop most successful applicants from applying to be reunited with their families for three years.
