Numbers 5-6 are pretty much the same group. They are too damn lazy to do the actual research, or to stand for anything save for themselves.

Boxes five and six give the cowards/idiots/lazy a voice too. So if you are a person who doesn't stand for anything, then you are the ones easily swayed by the best rhetoric, and as such jump on the popular band wagon at the moment................Sheeple.

I put leans left... i don't think your catagories go far enough though. I know lots of 'hard core right wingers'... who say they are for constitutional rights, as long as you know, you aren't gay or want an abortion... and who somehow think it would be ok to overthrow other governments so that we can instill 'good christian leadership' ?? ... etc.

I submitted my response [rigt leaning]. My assumption is that the [hard core right wing]/(constitutionalist} would be more like libertarian/Libertarian [Ron Paul/Austrian School]. I too think the categories are not sufficiently definitive to be meaningful, but glad to go along. I note that "Moderate"/Middle of the road, etc. is missing as is [neither right nor left]. Stand for Nothing/Bandwagon Jumper probably won't garner any non-humorous responses. This may serve as self definition, but the political tests which yield a numerical score would, I think, be better. Libertarian is a category that is represented on P&M. I wonder if anyone will legitimately choose (Socialist/Commie)?

I'm not telling , the secrecy of the voting booth is a sacred American right, never to be infringed on.

I just doubt many 'don't care/bandwagoners' will be on this forum... we're here because we have opinions

Instead, putting aside the exceptions, most people do in fact fit in one of the six categories that I offered. Lakhota, for example, doesn't even need to vote. I doubt that anyone would have any problem labeling him a Hard Core Left Winger. That in no way means that somewhere in the deepest darkest regions of his tortured soul, there isn't an issue that he could be moderate about.

The only thing missing in this unbiased and scientific poll is a little American flag next to the Hard Core Right Wing (Constitutionalist) selection.

I'm a hard core right winger. On the other hand I don't feel that I have a say in someone getting an abortion or not. Nor do I feel that your sexual orientation should have anything to do with the right that every American should have. I also believe in separation of church & state & maybe there are other issues that I might disagree with other right wingers on. I guess it all comes down to what side you identify with. (Oh & I don't agree that you have a right to own a gun but let's not open that can of worms), but I do feel that you should own one.

Well, before the Republican Party was hijacked by radical religious dimwits and other assorted nuts, I used to vote rather evenly between the two parties - probably more Republican.
Jerry Falwell's "Moral Majority" in 1979 and then the so-called "Religious Right" in the 80s started my turnoff on the GOP.
These days I mostly lean about halfway between center and far left on most issues, but I lean right on the Second Amendment.
Far Left-------------------Me---------------------Center-------------------------------------------Far Right

BTW, I think your one category is really funny: Hard Core Right Wing (Constitutionalist)
Aren't these the ones who love the Constitution so much they constantly want to change it? I don't hear Democrats whining about changing the Constitution.
Might I offer the following change: Hard Core Right Wing (Fascist)?
Also, I don't know anyone in this category: Hard Core Left winger (Socialist/Commie) - not even Nancy Pelosi.

I don't hear Democrats whining about changing the Constitution.
Would you like to know why that is? It is because democrats like to argue the meaning of the words to death all the while padding their pockets with fees while it all takes place. A good gig if you can get it. It is like a fungus or scum that eats away at the core of the foundation. Eventually it is identified and eliminated.

I think the whole thing is a government operation trying to figure out if I'm going to vote for Obama or Palin.

Loop... do you really believe the state should own all means of production? And that we should abide by 'from those according to their ability, to those according to their need"? I'm a firm believer in a social safety net. I think as an industrialized country, not only can we afford a basic minimum standard of life for all citizens, but in achieving such, we also create a much more stable/ predictable/ safe world for the rest of us... but i do not ascribe to the foundation tenets of true socialism/communism ( as they are actually DEFINED... and not as many people on here tend to use them )

I am thinking by the few examples of your beliefs posted, while you feel you are a hard right In you political feelings , I as a outsider just observing, would suggest a middle to the right. I am suggesting that you may feel the way you do , others of us too, on both sides by the way, because of some very, very strong feelings on issues. The following put up as only a example of my thought on the matter.. Possible you are completely and unequivocally against the current President , anything he says, does, did, thinks, dreams about, has written since he stared learning the A B C's. If in a attack, he threw himself on a grenade saving woman, children those around him, you would still have a problem with him. Thus with such strong feelings on a issue you naturally feel you must be to the extreme right, and others the same, extreme you are to the extreme what ever because of extreme feelings on some topics. I suggest it is the body of work, feelings , not the depths of the feelings on a few topics. The over all body of work so to apeak. You realize the reference to the POTUS was only used as a example in explaining my feelings?

Lakhota, I don't know what it means to anybody else but to me Hard Core Right Wing means that I want to GET BACK TO following things in our constitution. I would also point out that we (America) doesn't have a fascist history so that wouldn't apply to me. I'm also a big believer in protecting your own rights.

deziloooooo I am more or less against everything President Obama is trying to do (true) because I believe that most of it starts with changing our present form of government. I also realize that a lot of Americans want to do that. As for the office of President, I have nothing but respect for it. As for the man (President Obama) I think history will show that he was a very effective President (as in getting the things he wanted to do, done). As for the man, I don't know him so I couldn't say. I have a neighbor that I like & we get along. Yet were are about as far apart politically as possible.
I am thinking by the few examples of your beliefs posted, while you feel you are a hard right In you political feelings , I as a outsider just observing, would suggest a middle to the right.
You might be right in that statement but I think I moved to the far right as most other people moved left. For instance I believe that you that the right to protect your property with no questions asked. For instance if someone broke into my house I will kill him. Once he breaks in I really don't care why he did it nor would I take the time to try to subdue him. He's in, he's dead.

Aren't these the ones who love the Constitution so much they constantly want to change it? I don't hear Democrats whining about changing the Constitution. Might I offer the following change: Hard Core Right Wing (Fascist) Lakhota, I don't know what it means to anybody else but to me Hard Core Right Wing means that I want to GET BACK TO following things in our constitution. I would also point out that we (America) doesn't have a fascist history so that wouldn't apply to me. I'm also a big believer in protecting your own rights. I still don't think that means your a hard right. The difference between a middle to the left , me in my estimation on where I lean, is, I don't read into every decision congress or a POTUS makes as a violation of the constitution. I admit I am not learned in the document, the interpretation of it , and it is and has been interpreted since it was enacted and leave that up to the ones who are, the ones who file suits basing the suits on their thoughts there are a violation of the document, the courts who hear the cases and if needed after a verdict is rendered, the case, if appealed, AND accepted by them to be heard, final decision by the supreme court. I am comfortable with that and uncomfortable when I see posts here , like yours, that this is not happening and YOU know what is or is not a violation. No disrespect intended, you don't. you might think you do but again, it will be the courts , either lower or higher if heard who will make that decision. By you and others saying that you want to have them, Congress, Executive adhere to the document and the others, left does not, as if you are from a higher place , more noble, more of a patriot a better citizen, superior American is poppycock and elitist. We the middle , the left just might be willing to let the system that we live under , are governed by, play out with in the rules and laws we live by. It seems the right wants to remake the rules to serve their beliefs when it doesn't play out to their satisfaction. Then their feeling is the rules are being broken, the constitution is not being followed. The left /moderate to me seem perfectly content to tolerate the right as a member of the society and have their ideas heard. The right to me seem to have a different feeling toward the left, great intolerance to that group, better they are NOT present, definitely they have no voice and as the leader of the House just called the Presidents words "Filthy utterances " proves my feelings on that score. No one from the right coming forward and calling him out on that, rather sitting back and agreeing in glee. Turn about , while not all, so many leftist would be all over any one who spoke that way about a sitting POTUS from the other side.{I know, some one will bring up the rhetoric against Bush} My answer is the old cliche , two wrongs don't make a right and not anyone with the same credentials and words like that were spoken. There also was eight years of rule by one vs two plus , a questionable war and on and on, but still any words like that would have been wrong and especially with one with those credentials and the smarts of saying so at this moment when so many serious problems face us was just stupid and ignorant.
