So I was on this family reunion each year in St Augustine Fl back in Aug of 2007...and bored out of my mind so I went to my home page (msn) and found these people talking about investments...on this thing called market talk....boy was I was shocked as what the people took for knowledge in regards to investing. There were some like the people who show up here tonight despite different backgrounds held similar views and similar experience as to what constitutes investment acumen. Those people bonded and have come to be known as the Rat Pack  Because of a certain choice in life...an appreciation for taste in music, charity, most are self employed and make business or monied decisions everyday...share a certain sense of sensibilities...and have a callous disregard for ...other peoples bullshit and when confronted with bullshit know how to deal with it. What we are confronted with here at our new home/community is some other weird bullshit and I have asked you all for some guidance because what used to be an enjoyable way to spend the day with...can I call some of you my Internet friends...some of us actually know each other in real life (hence the strong reactions against the ones we don't) has now turned into a nasty adversarial contemptuous situation for me and I know it disrupts and takes away from what we all come here for...to enjoy each others company. I would like to work out a structure that would allow us to segregate the disruptive players so they will go off by them selves to die a lonely death....in order for us to enjoy each others continued company Honestly, FTI, I enjoyed when you first logged-on to the old MSN Market Talk. And when I found out who you were and did a little snooping, I was impressed to say the least. I'm probably not what anyone would label an investor. But what you brought to MT helped me to make some choices that I probably wouldn't have made without some of your calls. And those choices ended up being very profitable for me. I'm sure there were better choices and worse choices out there ... but the ones I made worked just fine for me. Thanks for that. I have more to say ... but I apparently forgot that I had an appointment tonight and I need to leave. Sorry for the departure in mid thought last night... As i was saying, you helped me tremendously ... financially speaking. And you gave me confidence in my own decisions. But as far as the boards go (the old MT and the new PB), I grew weary of the constant personal attacks by some people. Seems when I had an opinion on a subject, I'd get verbally abused for not agreeing with "their" point of view. Not just disagreed with ... but verbally insulted and called names. It got old real fast. It's not that I'm thin skinned or can't defend myself ... it's more of a "I really don't need this to improve my quality of life." ... so I chose to lurk more than anything. Moon knows what I started doing to combat the denigration by others ... but our personal conversations resulted in me stopping that action as well ... so I lurk until I feel the uncontrollable urge to chime in. I understand your occasional lashing out against the constant barrage of personal attacks, but that, IMHO, has caused more harm than good. It might have brought the issue to the mods, but it hasn't really helped. Sure the mods have stepped in on occasion, negotiated truces, updated COC rules, handed out "strikes", threatened permabans for a third strike, etc., etc., etc. ... but none of "consequences" have been followed up on. The result is that the offenders know that they can continue because nothing of substantial consequence will ever happen. Just my opinion, mind you ... and we all know the saying about about opinions. Anyway ... this was meant to be more of a thank you rather than a rant or explaining why you don't see me on the site much these days. Thanks, FTI ;D I'll be around, you just won't "see" me much. |
