That's exactly what I believe and have for a while.. You think Big oil wants to lose money?? Renewable energy has such a great conspiracy to it doesn't it..

There are lots of posts about common types of renewable on here, I always try to find stories that have public companies involved, however, sometimes it's research. However, I started the thread with the theme of the first post. So nuclear is also a topic that I would say is a renewable that works. I want to move this over from the new frontiers thread, Prime example BCON power is going to be a company to watch.

I think Bi Metals thoughts on Bio Fuels - Particularly - Algae could be big for the future - might not satisfy the environmentalists but it could certainly run our cars and our electric plants forever.

It's the future there is no doubt about that. I hope there are big things on the way for that!! ;D This is also another great way to use things up. Ever watch that trashopolis show? It's crazy to think that before the Brits got there Mumbai was 7 islands... They have a slum that's over 1 million people that runs on recycling.. We should just look at doing this... They already had an experimental Throium Nuclear reactor operating at Los Alamos since the 1970's, it's shutdown now, but we have successful used the technology in an experimental fashion. There are some hurdles to scale it up to a commercial production size, but doable for far less than the money government wastes on other things. Problem is the fear of nuclear anything. Good luck getting it past the environmentalists. A true leader would be able to do it and value it but we haven't had a true leader in this country for decades.

That's great news Cali, not about the lack of leadership, however, the fact that the tech is moving forward, that is what the article claims as well. The tech should pass the greens, according to the article it will actually burn up nuclear waste, and produces no weapons grade by products, and no chance of a Chernobyl or Japan.

The Galt House East Hotel and Waterfront Office Building complex in Louisville, Kentucky uses the world’s largest geothermal heat pump. The system was less expensive to install than a conventional heating and cooling system and currently saves the 750,000 square-foot hotel an estimated $25,000 a month in heating and cooling costs. Such systems can be applied to almost any location in the world. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has rated geothermal heat pumps the most efficient and least polluting heating and cooling system available.Galt House Page 48 www.dnr.mo.gov/education/energy/geopower.pdf

The price of solar panels has dropped so far that from Hawaii and India, solar project developers are beginning to match the rates customers pay with traditional power sources. Good to hear. I've been dawdling on having a solar guy out to the house for an estimate. Maybe once I get through 1st quarter close I'll take a day and meet with a couple.

There are going to be some really big changes in the way panels are made in the next few years as well. More and more people are getting closer to "high efficiency" panels.
