Much of my income has been generated by the rail, refining and nuclear industries of the USA. Recently I found a way to add wind energy to that mix. Next up solar? If the numbers are good, I am in. ;D

It's all about the numbers. I was just reading that the input cost on solar are going down..

Time for a change. There are lots of solutions. I agree V, this is a huge breakthrough! Floating power stations.

I have a feeling that I'm going to regret this, but what about the electric buses? Ran out of juice half way thought the route and they realized it should be running on bio diesel or CNG?

OK. Here it is. I am working with a company that produces the power unit for electric propulsion. Currently the unit is a 60KW motor with a three speed transmission. This program is in the early stages and the bus itself is being tested in a large metro area. Right now there are 10 units in daily use with plans to add 20 more. With the buses they have also installed strategically located charging stations throughout this particular city. The long term plan is to replace the entire metro busline with these vehicles.

Next phase: Major metro areas in US are considering acquiring same technology using US bus companies to build the vehicles. L.A. and Vancouver are considering starting conversion by 2013. Note: The electric bus technology is meant at this time for low speed start and stop routes and not meant for cross country trips, however the hybrid bus technology will be used in over the road routes. Battery technolgies have been evolving quickly. Electric theory in mass transit is not necessarily new(see street cars from the 40's or San Francisco trolley system), But self contained effecient use of battery power is. In Europe, Diamler has an all electric bus with onboard charging. Currently they use a small on demand diesel motor(see GM Volt) to create generated recharging on the fly with future technology generated by wheel inertia capturing kinetic energy as a source to recharge batteries. I would also guess airport transit people movers may be on line in regions where "green" technology is at the forefront. I.E. Hawaii and California airports. Aham, No regrets!

That's awesome dome! I like how they are using the inertia from the wheels. F1 racing is using this as well. The point about battery tech is a good one, I have read quite a few different stories about that. There is a bike out there the is like 500 HP off batteries. If we are generating power from things like waves all of a sudden shifting to electric cars isn't a bad thing. Plus like it or not, looks like solar panels are going on every industrial building in NA eventually. Have you thought about attaching panels on top of the bus to help with the battery charging? Wind is also on par with oil now per BTI. So if we keep filling the grid with all these sources of clean tech, added with Natgas power plants. Electric transportation make A LOT of sense. More oil to ship abroad.... Oh ya did I mention that I had an idea for wind energy today that even my pops, who hates wind farms, can't find a prolem with.

I have seen some development of solar panels on the top of the buses, but so far as I have seen, the solar energy was being used for air conditioning and other small electric tasks of the bus. I saw that at Diamlers website.

Right on, well if it's being done then it makes sense to have an all electric bus running its AC and other electric on solar for sure. I didn't see that on the Diamler site I looked through it again, where did you see it? K4U dome. ;D

I hear that, I'm all over it Ty. The best thing about energy, as long as we go forward, we need it. Now how about big oil, being big green in 50 years? ;D

Believe what you may but Big Oil will be the only ones that can get green energy to where it will pay for itself. Plus they have the money to invest in the research needed to get the job done.
