Iran Arms Houthis 500 Miles from Mecca

Middle East and Russian sources have confirmed that an Iranian ship has unloaded 185 tons of weapons at Yemen's Port Saleef to the Houthis, Iran's Shiite proxies in Yemen. Port Saleef connects directly with the capital, Sanaa, and is only about 500 miles – or 800 kilometers – south of Mecca, the holiest site in Islam, which is currently under the control of Saudi Arabia.



Prior to the offloading, the Houthis – who are in military control of Sanaa and the entire north of Yemen – reportedly closed Port Saleef to the public and denied the regular employees access so as to allow the Iranian ship to transfer the huge amount of weapons onshore.

It is also unclear whether the Houthis will use the massive influx of weapons to move against the Sunni-majority south, and consolidate their hold in Yemen, or move north against Saudi Arabia.

With full Houthi/Iranian control over the mountainous north of Yemen, they are in a strategically favorable position to strike north to the holy city of Mecca along the eastern side of the Saudi Asir Mountain range that runs parallel to the Saudi Red Sea coast.

In November 2009, the Houthis went on the offensive against Saudi Arabia, crossed the border, and attacked numerous Saudi positions. After a brief series of battles, the Saudis regained their land.

Shocking Passover Blood Moon Predictions by Israeli Rabbi

Rabbi Amram Vaknin, who similarly predicted the events of the Gaza flotilla and the Carmel forest fire in 2010, and Operations Pillar of Defense (2012) and Protective Edge (2014), warns that Israel is facing great judgment and potential danger at this time.

Moreover, this year in Israel is a Sabbatical, or shmitta, year, a time in which the land of Israel is commanded to be left fallow. Yahadoot.net notes a statement by the Sages in the Talmud which says, “In the sixth [year there will be] voices [of war], in the seventh [there will be] war, and at the end of the shmitta, the [Messiah] son of Jesse will arrive.” Although the Talmud never states in which seven-year cycle in history this will be fulfilled, the website suggested that thus far, our modern period fits the description.

Grim News from Central Asia

The series of bad news emanating from Central Asia in 2015 has been unsparing. Kazakhstan’s economic outlook is bleak, with the country being battered by depressed oil prices and Russian irredentism. Kyrgyzstan, that last and best bastion of democratic hopes in the region, just saw a parliamentary committee approve a “foreign agents” law modeled on a Russian precedent, targeting its non-governmental sector.

Tajikistan, however, owns the most distinct string of depressing developments over the past two weeks. Earlier this month, an unknown gunman assassinated opposition leader Umarali Kuvatov in Istanbul. Kuvatov, leader of the Group 24 movement – a nascent, largely overlooked opposition organization deemed “extremist” by authorities – had applied for asylum in Turkey. He died before he received an answer.....

As one regional observer recently noted, we’re no longer in a Russian economic crisis, but a “Eurasian economic crisis.” Toss political assassinations into the mix, and this year has proven the most troubling for regional governments – and regional opposition – in some time. And it’s only beginning.

Islamic State descends from Wahhabism

WINSTON CHURCHILL recognized the danger that an Islamic state posed in 1921, when he rose in the House of Commons to warn of a then little-known sect emerging from “the vast deserts of Arabia:” the Wahhabis. But because those deserts contained much of the world’s oil supply, the world took no notice of Churchill’s caution. In time, the West unwittingly funded the spread of that sect throughout the Muslim world.

Churchill told the Commons that the Wahhabis represented a “form of Mohammedanism which . . . bears the same relation to orthodox Islam as the most militant form of Calvinism would have born to Rome in the fiercest times of the religious wars.

"The Wahhabis profess a life of exceeding austerity, and what they practice themselves they rigorously enforce on others,” he said. “They hold it as an article of duty, as well as faith, to kill all who do not share their opinion and to make slaves of their wives and children. Women have been put to death in Wahhabi villages for simply appearing in the streets. . . . Men have been killed for smoking a cigarette [and] for the crime of alcohol.”

Churchill was afraid the Wahhabis might emerge from the interior of Arabia to take over the Muslim holy places of Mecca and Medina, which were under control of Arabs allied with the British. Lawrence of Arabia had similarly worried about what would happen if these “marginal medievalists . . . intensified and swollen with success” were to prevail. In 1924, that is exactly what happened, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was declared in 1932.

'It's God's gift.' Islamic State fills coffers with Iraqi government cash

Islamic State is skimming money from its enemies in both Damascus and Baghdad, making millions out of selling oil to the Assad regime and “taxing” Iraqi government money sent to civil servants in its fiefdom, according to a new BBC documentary.

The film, called World’s Richest Terror Army, to be broadcast on BBC2 on Wednesday, cites officials in Washington, Baghdad and the Kurdistan regional government who said that Isis has adopted a pragmatic, “tax-and-spend” approach to financing, building up a war chest of an estimated $2bn (£1.35bn) in the process.

Crucial to its revenue is income derived from oil produced from large fields in eastern Syria, some of which it then sells on to its arch enemy, the Syrian government, according to an informed source on the ground and a senior US official in Washington.

Now that Boko Haram has officially changed their name to the Islamic State and started on the offensive once again, it appears the wahhabists in Somalia are about to follow suit.

Meanwhile, a new Video Claims the Islamic State Has Established a New Branch in Yemen. Add in the fact that the Islamic State has actually made gains in Syria and Iraq despite a massive aerial attact, and the scope if what is going on becomes clear.

In just over a year the Islamic State has gone from the JV team with a dam seizure in Fallujah, to having a presence spanning from Central Africa to Central Asia. Their affiliates and supporters have been carrying out monthly attacks on western targets and lands since September of last year. Fighters stream from western countries - not to fight for our way of life - to fight against it. Islamic warriors are streaming into Italy as refugees to set up camps to launch attacks on Southern Europe.

This doesn't even account for the fact that inside of this growing global conflict, there is another sectarian war going on.

The idea that bombing and destroying things is doing anything but helping the Islamic State achieve their goal of a tribal state is pure insanity at this point. It is more than apparent that a force far bigger than we can muster is going to be needed to route the Islamic State. Why? The war is so far beyond Iraq and Syria now it's not even funny. So the only obvious question at this point then is; where is the force going to come from to stop this fascist, idealistic, Islamic Army?

The Islamic State has remained on the offensive in the Thar Thar and the provincial capital of Anbar, as well as in Baiji, where much of the strategic refinery is said to be under the jihadist group’s control, despite recent setbacks in Tikrit. The loss of 26 Brigade headquarters was followed by the Islamic State’s takeover of the 4th Regiment’s headquarters in Thar Thar in mid-April, and the assault on the Thar Thar dam and the rout of an accompanying military barracks at the end of April. The commander of the 1st Iraqi Army Division was killed in the attack at the dam.

Omar al-Alwani, a pro-government tribal fighter from Ramadi, said no soldiers are left to defend eastern roads to the capital, Baghdad. He fled Malaab along with about 500 police officers, soldiers and pro-government fighters, who left behind weapons that include artillery, machine-gun trucks and machine guns.

‘Strategy to defeat Islamic State is working,’ US Department of Defense claims

This Department of Defense news article (reproduced in full below) on the status of the fight against the Islamic State couldn’t have been more poorly timed. Published on May 15, the same day that the Islamic State overran the government center in Ramadi, the report provides a pollyannaish view from Brigadier General Thomas D. Weidley of the US military’s air campaign and the Iraqi military’s fight against the Islamic State....

..Weidley described Ramadi as “contested” and claimed that Iraqi forces repelled most attacks in the city when in reality the Islamic State took control of the government center and most neighborhoods in Ramadi by May 15. By May 17, the Islamic State was in full control of Ramadi and overran the Anbar Operations Command and 8th Brigade Headquarters at Camp Ar Ramadi. Iraqi forces are said to be in complete disarray in the Fallujah-Ramadi corridor.

Weidley’s description of the situation in Baiji was just as overly optimistic. He claimed that while the Islamic State breached the perimeter and has had “episodic control of some refinery facilities to continue attacking Iraqi security forces,” Iraqi forces are regaining the initiative inside and outside of the refinery. In reality, the Islamic State controls upwards of 80 percent of the refinery and has besieged an Iraqi force holed up there. The Islamic State is in full control of the city of Baiji and the surrounding areas, the the Iraqi military is unable or unwilling to send reinforcements....

..Ironically, Weidley is detailing just how anemic and ineffective the US air campaign has been in both Anbar province and Baiji. Despite the estimated 420 strikes in the Ramadi-Fallujah area and 330 more in Baiji, the Islamic State was able to organize its assault forces, advance, and overrun Iraqi security forces in both areas.

It doesn't stop there. The mujahideen has made different acronyms for their name - as discussed before - and the Western mind set continues to adhere to the belief that all these different groups don't have the same agenda. Which is why this news is as big as the "I.S." gains.

Assad Prepares For Islamic State Assault On Damascus, Has An Escape Plan

He pointed to the fact that Assad is losing territory to Islamic State every day and is now in control of only a quarter of Syria’s territory.

Yechezkieli reported that Assad has taken into consideration the possibility that he could be ousted by Islamic State and has an escape plan in case Islamic State will seize Damascus. The Channel 10 expert said that when that happens, Assad will withdraw his forces to the Western part of Syria and will try to hold the areas where the Alawite minority lives. Assad is a member of this non-Muslim minority that makes up only ten percent of the population in Syria.

Yechezkieli also pointed to another dramatic development following the takeover of Palmyra. He said that Islamic State launched a massive jailbreak and released thousands of Syrians who had been incarcerated in Palmyra’s state-run prison, most of them for opposing Assad’s regime. Many of the freed prisoners were welcomed into Islamic State’s forces, he said. “This will only add to the power and motivation of Islamic State’s forces,” he added.

Meanwhile, President Obama told Atlantic reporter Jeffrey Goldberg that the U.S. isn’t losing the fight against Islamic State. He said that the fall of Ramadi in Iraq was “a tactical setback” and added that “the city has been vulnerable for a very long time.”

In related news, Reuters reported today that Turkey’s state intelligence agency helped deliver arms to parts of Syria under Islamist rebel control during late 2013 and early 2014, according to a prosecutor and court testimony from gendarmerie officers seen by the news agency.

The witness testimony contradicts Turkey’s denials that it sent arms to Syrian rebels and, by extension, contributed to the rise of Islamic State, now a major concern for the NATO member.

Islamic State launches wave of suicide attacks on Iraqi troops

Islamic State jihadists have unleashed a wave of suicide attacks targeting pro-government troops in western Anbar, a day after Baghdad launched a new offensive to drive them from the province.
Up to 17 soldiers were killed in the explosions that took place outside of Fallujah, a town controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant inside the Sunni heartland Anbar.

Brigadier General Saad Maan Ibrahim, the spokesman for the Joint Military Command said on Wednesday that the militants had struck near a water control station and a lock system on a canal between Lake Tharthar and the Euphrates River.

Keep in mind that the biggest threat to Bagdad isn't the militants themselves, but the water they could release on the city. At that point the rosy predictions about Bagdad being out of the militants reach wouldn't be so soothing.
