The Palestinian Authority, governed by the terrorist group Hamas and whose national charter calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and the death of all Jews worldwide, has been permitted by the Obama administration to fly their flag over their Washington, D.C. mission. This is the first time in American history that a documented terrorist group has been authorized by the U.S. government to fly their flag on American soil. That's "change" for you... www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=204222

But are they flying it higher than the American flag?
Enquiring minds want to know.

Someone can correct me, but I think embassies and foreign missions are considered foreign territory, even though they are located in the US. Thus they can fly their own national flag.

playing devil's advocate here, I guess you could say the same for all those administrations that allowed the Israeli flag to fly over the embassy since 1948. I mean, all those Palestinian civilians that were killed over the years didn't just drop dead on their own.

The PA is not a recognized nation, thus it cannot have officially recognized embassies or other foreign diplomatic entities. This D.C. mission is simply an advocacy group for a terrorist organization, and the Obama administration has given them authorization to fly their terrorist flag in our nation's capital...

The normal rule is that it be allowed for Embassies and foreign mission stations. Not sure how this fits in. Embassies are considered foreign soil and allowed to fly their flag. Most countries allow this. However I am not sure how this group fits in. Normally they must be recognized by the host country as a viable government.

Israel was formed by the UN, decades ago, following WWII.

Sorry Mr. ed1066 but this statement by Mr. billisonboard was extremely comical to me.

Why doesn't Ed have a problem with Syria with an actual embassey in Washington. Syria, along with Cuba, Iran and Sudan, are considered by the United States State department as state sponsors of terrorism

I DO have a problem with it, but whether I like it or not, those mudpits are recognized nations, and according to the current rules, they are allowed to fly their repulsive flags over their filthy embassies. The PA is NOT a recognized nation, it is a terrorist group, like Al-Queda, and only a radical anti-American like Obama would allow a terrorist organization to fly their flag on our soil. Would you also be amenable to an Al-Queda flag flying over a building in D.C.?

Don't confuse an anti-Semite with facts. If they can't think of Jews as dirty "squatters", it screws up their world view... Now that wasn't very nice Ed. The poster is entitled to their opinion just like you. Tennesseer/Moderator

Good for them. However, it doesn't change the fact that Obama is allowing a terrorist organization, one which is NOT recognized as a state by our country, to fly their flag in our country. That is the topic of the OP, and it remains a fact...you are more than welcome to fly YOUR Hamas flag in Syria or one of the other countries on your map, but right now, in the United States, the PA and it's governing body, the terrorist group Hamas, are NOT recognized...it is only through Obama's sympathy toward this terrorist group that this is being allowed.

I assume you will be deleting post #9 as well, as it refers to the nation of Israel, legally chartered in 1947, as "squatting", a derogatory term used to imply criminal behavior.

From the CoC:
You represent and warrant that you shall not use the Website or Services to upload, post, transmit, display, perform or distribute any content, information or materials that: (a) are libelous, defamatory, abusive, or threatening, excessively violent, harassing, obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, or pornographic; (b) constitute child pornography; (c) solicit personal information from or exploit in a sexual or violent manner anyone under the age of 18; (d) incite, encourage or threaten physical harm against another; (e) promote or glorify racial intolerance, use hate and/or racist terms, or signify hate towards any person or group of people;
"Group of people", does this not define a nation? And I would say referring to a nation as "squatters" signifies hate toward that group, or at the very least an intolerance based on race/religion, etc.

Tennesseer/Moderator that's OK, I don't think much of Ed anyway. in other threads, he's lumped me in with "tree-hugging liberals" so it was only a matter of time before he called me something else. as I said when I made the first post, I was playing devil's advocate regarding the Israeli flag. there's plenty of documented history regarding the establishment of Israel, including the fact that land that wasn't previously theirs was given to them. that's all.

Ed-- I don't much like the recognized terrorist organization Hamas flying their flags in our country, but, unfortunately, although the USA publicly calls Hamas terrorists, it has never stopped amazing me how many people on the message boards consider ISRAEL the terrorists and Hamas the good guys. Even when I posted horrifing pictures of Hamas beating the Palestinians, cutting people's heads off, setting them up to die, along with lots of news articles. Fact is the people that think Israel are the terrorists, and there seem to be lots of them in our country, are not going to change their minds. It's no big secret that this POTUS has given less consideration to Israel than any past POTUS. I think he can hardly stand it when he has to publicly stand by Israel. Not surprising since his formative years were spent as a Muslim child in a Muslim school, and one can safely say that Muslims and Jews in the Middle East do not play well together most of the time....
What can we do?? Nothing. Just continue to support Israel and condemn Hamas and Hezbollah when we have the opportunity.

OK, now I'm confused. Just to set the record straight please, is referring to an entire nation of people with the derogatory term "squatters", even when that nation was legally chartered, now merely an opinion? Please confirm, if that is the case, I want to know so I can adjust my future posts accordingly...
