I've been a real bad ass for getting any enthusiasm up for this. I'm watching what I eat and doing exercise when I'm watching TV. But I just can't find much energy for much else. I do suffer with SAD and believe it, it's not even a quarter as bad as previous years. This Board has helped me a lot with that. This is also my Blood Disorder Treatment week, so two full days at the hospital. I'll just keep puttering away at it, at my own pace. And some day I'll wake up and everything will just click and I'll be off and running.

Sugi- Even if you can't physically see the results what you are doing is great. Your body is healthier and you probably have more energy than if you were just being a bump on a log.

Morning all! Hope you had a great MLK Jr. weekend. I was gone with my exchange students all weekend, so I didn't weigh until this morning.....213.2. I am still stuck there! That has been my low weight since November!!!! Ugh!! Missed Boot Camp last night as there was too much snow coming over the pass from Seattle and we got home late. Tonight I will find a workout class, probably Pilates and do cardio prior. Then tomorrow...Boot Camp again. Have a great week everyone! Teachermom

My fiance and I walked about 1-2 miles yesterday and Sunday, yet my weight is up nearly three pounds today. Oh well, I think I'm retaining water so it'll get better.

I would like to join please: 1/16/12 134.5 lbs: goal 110/115 lbs by 5/15 I'm 5'2" and this is the heaviest I have EVER been. I am totally miserable but totally motivated!! Unfortunatley, I do not eat anything that is good for you, I hate veggies and most fruit so I will have to just eat in moderation and rely on workouts to get back in shape. I started yesterday and did a JM 30 day shred workout in the am and then walked/ran 3.3 miles last night, did another JM Shred it with Weights workout this morning and plan to do p90x kickboxing this afternoon. I am planning to do 2 a day workouts until I get most of the weight off and then hopefully I will be able to drop one of the workouts off. I am also planning to join a gym to help keep me motivated. I have never had to watch my weight but over the last several years the pounds have just been hard to keep off. Last year my DH and I completed the p90x program and I was at 118 lbs but then I completely stopped working out and gained all the weight back plus some . Been working out occasionally since then but never in a set routine. I am now at the miserable point and determined to get this weight off and not look back!! Thanks for the thread, I will post results on Fridays (don't like to get on the scale everyday).

Mawmaw- Welcome!
I'm up a little from my low after I was sick, but I kind of expected that. I'm hoping to keep it below the 170 mark though. New weight 169.2. Tonight I go to our rec center to do an orientation and get a 6 month pass. Hopefully my cough will stay manageable today and I'll be able to do a light workout tonight.

Good morning everyone! Welcome to the newbies!!
I worked out last night on my own.....10 min warm up on the treadmill, 50 min bike ride, weights (legs) and then took a pilates class. I felt great! Tonight is boot camp cardio! Last week it was pretty hard, hopefully tonight will be a good work out but not overly hard....meaning I am getting in shape!
This morning the scale is finally moving down! I hope it continues!!! Down 1.5 pounds! Woohoo!!
Keep up the good work everyone!!

Hi Everyone! Nurse just called and said my blood levels are at normal levels again. She didn't give me the ferritin level which is the one that was so low...and I still have to take the awful iron supplements for at least six more weeks. I left a message for the doc to see if I have the OK to start exercising again. I specifically mentioned walking at lunch and spinning class twice per week. I'm hoping she says it's ok. My scale hit 199 this morning which is a lifetime high. I will do a formal post/join when I get the go ahead. I MUST be at 165 when Mr. Cat returns from Australia at the end of May!! Mawmaw: Welcome! Please find good things to eat and start taking care of yourself. I was just like you and I am just recovering from a bout of SEVERE iron deficiency anemia. The pain and fatigue was debilitating!! The doc told me my iron levels were so low that I could've cause heart attack or heart damage by exercising!!

Sounds like overall we're all on the right track! I worked out on Saturday and Monday, which is unheard of for me on a weekend. I also worked out last night. So that's five times in the last week. Feeling pretty good heading in to my WW weigh-in in about an hour. I'll let you know how it goes!

Iggy - I've been doing WW for 2 years now, but I can never stay in my points! I'm horrible... but it does reign me in and gets me making much healthier choices (until evening, my downfall). Someday I'll stay in my points. I'd lost 12 pounds in 2010 then gained back after my wedding (how cliche). So working on re-losing those (plus the 4 gained over Christmas, doh!). Thanks for the encouragement!

Ugh I'm up 0.8. I really thought I lost this week, so this is depressing. I can trace my weight gain back to the holidays when I got a lot of chocolate. The chocolate will be all gone by Monday, so that's good, at least. If it's not there, I don't crave or eat it, but if it's there, I can never stop at one piece. Other than that, my eating habits are the same, if not better. And I will try to be even better in the evenings... and continue working out regularly. And maybe one of these weeks, I will stay within my points range. I'm just glad my leader didn't call on me! I had nothing good to say!

I don't really eat the chocolate at home, just at work. So I bring a few pieces every day to eat when I take my pills (in lieu of other snacks, or perhaps a banana as well) to avoid stomach issues. But it seems to be sabatoging me! I'm just frustrated. As a grazer, I eat many small meals a day. But you're supposed to have protein, carbs, fiber, and healthy fats at each meal to be fully satisfied, which adds up. I try. And people who say "just eat fruit" drive me nuts. Fruit makes me hungrier, unless it's eaten with something else (like string cheese or peanut butter). and my WW leader loves touting 94% Fat Free popcorn, which to me is tasteless. I LOVE popcorn and eat the pop secret homestyle. Love it. Anything else is unsatisfying. I need to stop thinking I "need" that snack and be okay with other things more often, that are fewer points, and make the good popcorn a special treat. So hard...

I'm back on board for another year!
Starting weight is 234.5 (yes, the nemesis weight is still here) - official weigh in is on Sunday am (but reported on Monday). However, I'm trying to track my weight every day to see why/when it goes up or down. I'm currently pretty consistent with weight tracking four days a week, but would like to get more info and track the exercise.
My goal is to get healthy. Define healthy as 1) losing 20 inches on boob, waist, hips and diaphragm; 2) losing 20% of my starting weight (or 47 pounds) this year; 3) eating better - less processed and more fruit/veggies; 4) exercise 6 hours a week; and 5) like what I see in the mirror.
How to? 1) Track as much as I can every day; 2) make myself accountable by posting here often (need to define often); 3) set wins for goals; 4) up the exercise; 5) tracking what I eat and counting the fruits/veggies. I need to set goals for each week (because I like to win!) and because I get really embarrassed when I don't do what I say, as well as some reward goals for milestones.
Finally, put all my reporting equipment in a basket by the weigh-in machine. I also need to buy another tape measure since mine has moved into the sewing room (I think - anywhoo it is not where I thought it was), and use up one of the many blank books to collate my info and goals. Also, I need to formalize my check-in procedure with a graph.

OFFICIAL JOIN HappyCat: 199lbs 1-18-12 (Goal 165 by May 22) This is a lofty goal! I must lose TWO pounds per week - with no setbacks - to make the May 22 deadline. Mr. Cat is going on sabbatical and will be gone from Feb 2 - May 22. I plan to spend the entire four months working on myself...weight, attitude, health, finances. It is extremely important to me that I make this goal while he is gone so there is a dramatic effect when I see him again. I've gained so much weight in the last few years and it has affected my confidence. I want the old FUN me back. It's going to take some work but I have the doc's ok and I'm ready to get started. I will win this war and when I go to get Mr. Cat from the airport in May, I WILL be wearing the exact same skirt I was wearing the night I met him!!! (OMG! This skirt looks SO small!!! ) CAT FIRST Plan of Attack *sharp claw*: 1. Ease back into exercise for the first two weeks and build up from there. I plan to walk the track at the campus gym during lunch and attend spinning classes twice per week after work. I know I won't be able to do the whole hour at first but I will start and stick with it! I will do 20 minutes on my elliptical at least three times per week and have fun playing Wii again! 2. Make better food and drink choices. Drastically reduce sugary drinks like coke and sweet tea. Drink more water. Bring a healthy salad and fruit to work every day. Limit eating out at restaurants to 1 lunch and 1 dinner per week. Pay attention and turn off the autopilot! 3. Get plenty of sleep every night. I will leave my office (and the stress) at 4:30. No work on weekends!! 4. Continue with the iron supplements and vitamin supplements every day! 5. Monitor my progress by writing in a journal! 6. I will make this a lifestyle choice! I will be vigilant and keep my eye on the prize!! Ok, enough jibber jabber... tomorrow is DAY ONE!

165.2 this morning. This is up 1.6 lbs from last week. This is a little discouragin but I know that until I am consistenly going to the gym 3 times a week I will be up and down as my body readjusts to the exercise. Hoping to get to the gym tonight as I only went on Monday so far. I was supposed to go yesterday but I was home all day with a migraine and still have a headache so I am not sure if I will get there tonight. I really need to since I will not get there this weekend as I have to work.

dragon and Happy cat: Good luck with your goals, sounds like you both have great plans in place......y'all will do this!
I am in day 4 of my twice a day workouts. I am soooooo sore that I can hardly sit, but I refuse to give in to the pain. I managed to walk/run 4 miles last night and even though I could hardly move this morning I did JM Yoga Meltdown. My entire body felt like jello when I was done but I feel so much better since I stuck with it. I am doing different routines each day, so I'm sure that the soreness will continue for quite a while. NO PAIN NO GAIN!!

I've been away from this thread for a couple days, but I'm back now. took a sick day yesterday and didn't really do much. I'm still not quite 100% yet, and will probably bail on hockey practice tonight for that reason. I've just had a healthy 250-calorie breakfast of lowfat cottage cheese and granola, and will be doing my best to stay on track the rest of the day.

I went to the gym last night and burned 225 cals on the elliptical. Woo! And I resisted seconds at dinner! Feeling better today, and am determined to see that scale go DOWN at next week's weigh-in.
HappyCat and Dragon - great plans! very motivating to see how determined you are!

MN-Invester 166¾ lbs 1/19/12 (226 lbs. 4/14/11)
Up 1¼ and I have only myself to thank.
DH is out of town on business for the week and I have made some less than perfect food choices. Sigh. But I have kept up with my resolve to eat more fruits and veggies. It's just that I've had two bags of cheese puff corn along with too many peanut M&Ms. Oh well. DH gets back tomorrow. I won't buy the bad things when DH is home. Thank goodness he doesn't travel very much!

MN - I do the same exact thing when DH is out of town! He hates cheese, so when he's gone I eat mac n cheese and other cheesy dishes that aren't good for me, as it's really the only time I get to have them. Plus, no one is watching me eat (other than the cats) so I feel like I can take advantage of that. So bad.... so I completely understand!! That's great you kept up with the fruits and veggies!!

I've not been exercising since Monday. Between the cold in my chest and the cold outside, I just haven't felt like it. I was back down to 207.4 this morning.
Mawmaw---welcome! Good luck with your weight loss! I can't even remember 134 pounds--that was like elementary school. I'm 5'3.

After I posted yesterday I went back and read the posts - I like MN-Investor's idea on page 4 of measuring the parts of the the body you're not that happy with (correction, YOUR body, or even MY body). So I'm going to add my arms and thighs to my list, which actually includes most of the/MY body parts I'm not happy with.
I'm starting back with pilates next week, as well as revving up (to putt along) some fun hobbies like my embroidery (although I sit for that). I've been dreaming about riding a bike, too - a real bike out in the wild, not a stationary bike in the basement. May need to see if I can squeeze some more money from the budget to get a bike in the spring.
