jdnstl - I only did Butts, Guts, and Guns...There was a decent amount of cardio involved in the class as well. By the time I was done my arms and legs felt like a bowl of jello so staying for another hour for Zumba just was not feasible.
Suprisingly enough I am not as sore as I thought I would be. It was a tough class and I knew it was going to be when the instructor told us to grab mats and weights and that she didn't want to see anyone with anything under 8 lbs. Given that I haven't really worked out in say 7-8 years, saying it was a challenge for me is the understatement of the year.

Did JM's 30 day shred last night for the first time in probably a year. I can definitely feel it this morning, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was easier than when I tried it out initially in 2010. I'm guessing I must have some muscles from doing yoga for a year buried under the fat. Also jogged on the treadmill for about 15 minutes. I was going to go longer, but figured I wouldn't over do it, so then I can actually repeat it on Friday. I have to work my pt job tonight, so no time to exercise today.
Dakota I hope you get well soon. I hate throwing up.

Yippee! Scale is finally moving down! I am down 1.2 this morning!!!
Last night we did cardio. It looked like this: 10 min on the bike during random hills for warm up 5 mi running stairs 10 mi doing sprints and when it wasn't your turn you did jumping jacks or knee lefts (it rotated) 3 mi running stairs 10 min sprints on the bike (30 min as fast as you can, 90 min normal pace)
My legs are sore this morning!
Then I still did my 100 crunches.
So glad to finally see the scale moving. I have been stuck here since Nov when I took a break.

Down 1½ pounds. Yippee! I guess it's helped to be back on a regular schedule and back to exercise class.
I'm amazed at the exercise you gals do! It is so fantastic. My Fitness 50+ is so tame compared to your routines. But you are inspiring and I'm thinking of joining Planet Fitness (it's real nearby) next week when DH is out of town on business. I would like to add the treadmill on the days I don't have exercise class.

I'm up 0.2 this week. Not good, not bad. But I'm still disappointed. So far so good on eating (since Tuesday) and I'm going to work out for the second time this week tonight. We have no plans this weekend, so I'm planning on working out a LOT! lol.
onmyway - nice loss!
pooh - sounds like you have lots of great workout options! nice loss!!! And I LOVE zumba as a calorie burner. It's great cardio and they usually work in some lunges or arm exercises.
dakota - we can do this!
teachermom - keep it up!
shelly - welcome! And I'm with you - no way I could workout in the morning. Getting up at 6 is early enough for me! And congrats! You can do it! Start your new life together off on the right, healthy foot! I, too, need to look at the short-term goal rather than the larger goal.
Iggy - can I be you? That is awesome! But not so good about the gluten allergy. Go get that checked out!
mizbear - that's great you have a workout buddy in your mother!

Yikes! Sorry to hear about everyone getting/being sick! Get lots of rest and drink lots of water! It works. I got over my cold in 4 days that way.
Just returned from Boot Camp tonight. We did lots of ab exercises and free weights. I am pretty sore. I also warmed up with a 20 min walk and 20 min bike ride for cardio.....medium pace because I did cardio earlier today too. I did 10 min walk on treadmill, then 10 min on elliptical (hard on my knee and sore legs), so finished up with a pretty agressive 30 min bike ride.
Going to be feeling it tomorrow but that's ok! It hasn't been too bad and will only get easier!

Well being that sick had its upside, I dropped 5 pounds in 3 days. (I was 168.6 this AM) Now to see if I can keep it off as I start feeling better. Still not really feeling like food is a great idea for me. I'm doing vanilla wafers, yogurt, apples and saltines right now.

Teachermom teachermom - i haven't necessarily been doing everything right. BUT this is an example of why weighing everyday is not the best indicator anyway. i was back up to 255 when i weighed yesterday morning. This morning it was 251. this change could be due to a number of different factors. so i will continue to weigh everyday but will not weigh in here except on Monday or Tuesday only. sug - thanks for your encouragement. that was just what i needed to read!

jdnstl, Every ones weight fluctuates during the day. When do you weigh yourself ? I believe we weigh less in the morning after the first run to the bathroom.

I've been doing well with my eating this week. I'm really trying to make sure that I drink plenty of water...still working on that. I'll weigh in tomorrow morning. I saw an article about how Saffola oil helps to reduce belly fat and increase muscle mass in women (you can get this in sunflower seeds, buy the oil or buy the supplements). This isn't to a huge extent, but if ladies are having a problem losing the belly, this may help jumpstart everything. It has to do with Omega-6 fatty acids. Flax seed oil has both Omegas-3 & 6.

A wonderful additional point about flaxseed oil-
Pure flaxseed/ flaxseed oil has no seafood product in it- therefore making it safe for people like my mother who are allergic to fish and shellfish.

I haven't been posting because life has just been crazy! I am still on weight watchers and doing pretty good. I had a rough "holiday" because i kept gaining a pound here and a pound there, all in all from Thanksgiving to New years I gained almost 5 pounds. I jumped back on the wagon and started to track my points and lost 5.4lbs last week. to hit the 40lb mark. While I am losing, i was hoping to have lost more by now, but i am still VERY happy with the 40lbs. I still have another 40 to go, but would like at least to loose another 20 by the end of April. That's only 1.6lbs a week. I can do it!!! If I could only find the time to exercise I'm sure I could do much better...
How to other mom's with young kids find the time?

no change for me this week, I ate like crap over the weekend. I guess I'm lucky that the number didn't go up at all! re: fish/shellfish allergies - make sure that anyone with these allergies is using the vegetarian version of glucosamine if you're taking it. a cousin of mine found that out the hard way awhile back. (she's fine now, but still!)

I did not make it to the Y this weekend except to take DS to swim class (not much exercise involved there). Was planning on going in 1.5 hours before DS's class so I could get an hour in before getting him ready but DH proceeded to let me sleep in and by the time I woke up on my own there was no way I was going to make it in time. Sunday is chore day so no gym for me that day either. Didn't help any that I had an awful migraine Saturday night into Sunday either.
Hoping to make it tonight.
