OMG, this takes up a lot of time, I am not my ADD can deal with this looking and searching and finding...etc Yes, it can be a little time consuming until you get up to speed, but then it really takes very little time. As dancinmama often explains, there is a learning curve. I'm not trying to bash you, but, honestly, several people (me included) responded to your question and it doesn't sound like you took the time to read the responses. There were only a handful of posts since then, not like you had to read through pages and pages...we are all more than happy to answer questions and help people out, but please at least be respectful of our time as well.

So, I just looked at my january spending/savings. Not counting "regular" coupons (the ones that I've been doing for awhile on my own) I have saved $60.50. It was just from doing 2 CVS, 1 Target and 1 local GC deal.
THANK YOU to those who send me coupons and thank you to everyone else for guiding me through the process!!
OK, I am ready for Feb, here we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lena
ETA: since I am an accountant by trade and look at everything as Cost/Benefit, I wanted to add that 1. I spend about 10-15 /wk looking through the flyers and coupons from Sunday paper 2. I did not go to any "additional" stores, I didn't make any "additional" stops - just my regular shopping places

I cleaned my room this morning and found one 1/15 insert. I guess I should do that more. :-) So now I can at least get one of kraft single, edge gel, u by kotex, purina one and texas toast. Yay. I had a good shopping last night but had up to 8 of some good Qs (Fry's only doubles up to 4) for the mega. So I can go back this weekend and hopefully find the kleenex on a shelf.

Thanks Beach, I had a "store cupboard" for years and had a lot of deod. so I probably have not bought any in maybe...two years... I had to check what ounce I have now and it is the same size, we are not wedded to a brand. Kind of makes me wonder if me and the girl are using to much or h and the boy are not using enough....hehe oh dear I just checked it is the boys who are out and we have five, not really too happy with the stocked brand we had which is Dove ultimate go fresh....hmm thinking thinking....

Oh dear, busted from a thread. I asked if it was an okay deal, some replied that " they" don't get stuff like that unless it is free or nearly free...OK I understand that....but my question is/was in the absence of not having the coupons or a super duper deal is "is 1.50" a decent price now a days. So please explain what I did wrong. AHH never mind, I'll get my questions answered somewhere else. My next post was in response to going to that site, it was making my eyes water. Maybe I am not working these coupons site correctly. Re-read everything and still can't see what you are referring to constanz, don't know why the bashing. I read the responses went to the appropriate sites, couldn't find Dove or Unilever, make a silly post about looking at the coupon sites.....and......what....what did I do wrong.... Thanks again beachbum, she seemed to get what I was after. Dancinmama, thanks for all your help. There seems to be a big learning curve for beginners, will find somewhere that will suit me better.

OMG, this takes up a lot of time, I am not my ADD can deal with this looking and searching and finding...etc naggie: Here are some SUGGESTIONS that may save you some time: 1. Find a blog that covers the grocery stores in your area. Check the blog on the day that your grocery ads come out to find the best buys for that week. Don't forget to actually peruse the paper ads that you get in the mail. What you need may be on sale, but not considered a "best buy" by your blogger. 2. For the drug chains, I personally like www.frugalsuz.blogspot.com to get a lowdown on the best deals at all the drug chains. She usually posts them every Wednesday. I like iheartcvs, iheartwags, and iheartriteaid to actually see the ads page by page (before the ads actually start). Check those out every week some time before Sunday when the drug chain sales start in most places. 3. Learn to use the coupon database on www.hotcouponworld.com4. As you check blogs, make a list on the backside of a business sized envelope (one left from junk mail received). Clip your coupons as you find you need them putting them in your "shopping envie" as you make your list. 5. Go do your shopping. GG always likes to say that I think there is only one way to do this (my way), but nothing could be further from the truth. Everyone who wants to do this has to take the time to learn the rules at the stores that are available to them (which differ across the country) AND find a system that works best FOR THEM (this is the learning curve that I have been criticized for talking about). It does take time IN THE BEGINNING, but once you figure out a system that works for you, the time you spend should decrease. Many of us multi-task and search the blogs and make our lists while we're watching TV. I will say that times are changing. I can't really say if it is the economy or the show 'Extreme Couponing' on TLC, but whatever it is, the freebies are not as abundant as in the recent past. The above list is only a suggestion. Most of us here have found that in the end, the savings were worth the time and effort to learn how to do it; you may find differently, but you'll never know unless you give it a try.

SO check end caps and other aisles in case you don't see them in the paper goods section.

I am so glad to hear that you are seeing the fruits of what we do. $60.50 may not seem like a lot to "some people", but it is $60.50 that can be applied to other expenses or saved for something fun or put toward retirement or an extra something toward the principle on your mortgage.....and it adds up. I just now realized that yesterday this thread celebrated (5) years of continuous networking to save money on the items that we buy the most. And although it is not nearly as active as it has been in the recent past (because there just aren't as many deals to talk about), its longevity it testament that the savings that we get are substantial and can make a difference (to us anyway).

Hang in with us. I will add, though, that what we do is not for everyone. I'm not saying that it's not for you. Only you can answer that question.

I asked if it was an okay deal, Hi Naggie. It's often a hard question to answer, when someone says "is $x a decent price?" The reason for that is that sale prices are regional. So it may be a GREAT price for one person and a TERRIBLE price for another. With something like deodorant, if you are out, well you've gotta buy what's out there, know what I mean? You found a sale, plus there are coupons coming, so it should work out well. Is it a stockup price? Nope. Because stockup for an item like deodorant, for any serious couponer is going to be free, or pretty close to it. I have a small box filled with deodorants I got for free - including Dove, Mitchum, Degree, etc. So, all that to say, if it was me, I would buy a couple, and then keep my eyes out for a freebie deal.

Wow, I had a GREAT transaction today, which is really weird for kroger. They had everything in stock that I wanted. I was dreading going in because I was expecting issues. I had $2/1 peelies for the skintimate shave gel, and I went in and asked the lady at customer service if they were going to be a problem. She made a face about it and said they would adjust them down, but at least she didn't say I couldn't use them. So I bought:
4 x chi-chis tortillas 2 x moms best cereal 2 x welch's essentials juice 4 x hunts tomatoes 4 x skintimate shave gel 2 x birds eye veggies velveeta shells and cheese philly cream cheese
Then the miracle happened. The $2 peelies went through without even beeping and the cashier didn't mention anything about them. A few of my coupons did beep and she put them through without even looking. Both of my e-coupons came off without a hitch. The cashier didn't try to tell me that they'll only take 2 of the same coupon. She even gave me points for my green bags, which never happens ;D My total OOP was $7.97 and I saved $38.

I got 2 RPs in the mail today, and one of them included the unilever coupons. There is an awesome deal on various unilever food brands at harris teeter this week, so I will be stocking up.
There is also what looks like a good rebate on pfizer products. Buy 3 of various centrum, caltrate, advil, thermacare, robitussin, dimetapp products, get back $10 by mail.

Soooo I am just curious...i know prices are very regional and such, but what do you think is a good price to pay for TP? Now, I know free is best but I just havent caught onto anything like that but I am just curious what a respectable couponer would being willing to pay for TP ;D

We generally buy Cottonelle, which is a bit more expensive. This past year I've been able to get Cottonelle at 1.2 to 1.6 cents per SF. But...sigh...was down to our last pack of Cottonelle so last week picked some up for 2 cents per SF. There may be an upcoming good deal at RA on their brand tp. Will post if it works out.

I just bought Cottonelle and it was $5.49 for the double rolls 12=24 or something like that..it was the cheapest one they had I think. I believe it was at 1.7c/SF
ETA:: that is not a sale price nor was it with a coupon, that is just the normal price

Be on the lookout for some good tear pads! I've found several lately, some at CVS, some at the grocery store. $1/2 Doritos (I've seen these EVERYWHERE). $1/2 Combos (will make for free/cheap at RA this week, spend $15, get $5 Ups) $3/2 Digiorno pizzas

The Brita Rebate.....given the company's wishy-washy attitude, should we trust them and still do the rebate? I'm concerned that they act like Renpure Organics and not honor the rebate cos we use ECBs to pay for it. What do you ladies think? Any opinions on this ladies? Thinking about doing the CVS Brita deal (got a raincheck). Thanks
