I'll tell you- it's the fact that they can't seem to make dependents out of Americans.
It's absolutely maddening to them that the people marching with pitchforks here are the "rich".
The popular "revolt" here is against the government dependent class, and the proponents of big government.
After reading that "class warfare / civil war" article posted here, it's clear to me they just do not get it.
We see through it all. We know the GOVERNMENT and not the free market caused the housing collapse. We know that the government bailouts and crony capitalism are at the heart of why we can't jumpstart the economy.
We know, in short, that government isn't the solution-- but rather the CAUSE of the problem.
And we're going to get government and the many pigs at the government trough OFF our backs.
I said it before, I'll say it again: the last election wasn't a normal national political swing. It was a bottom up re-ordering of the political landscape. It wasn't merely Congressional. It was at the state level, the county level, the municipal level-- it was from our representatives in Congress down to the local Dog Catcher.
It wasn't about personality or Party, either (The GOP is going to learn this the hard way in 2012). It was about the issues- and the substance of the debate.
We The People are, for the first time in a long time, running the country. The 20% to 30% of hard left nutbags in the Democratic Party have had their last shot at governing. The comfortable ruling class elites in the Republican Party are currently getting their last shot at governing right now- and it expires in two years.
We WILL stop the spending- and ALL options are on the table. We can't fix government without reforming entitlements, and we will. The third rail in American politics isn't reform now, it's the status quo. Politicians defend the status quo at their professional peril.

Military expenditures on the table?
We can close all of our military bases on foreign soil. The defense department is probably the last budget item I'd look at.

Better put it all on the table and see what makes sense and also what we can afford. Our lose of superiority will be a result of our insane spending across the board and bad decision making rather then a reduction of military expenditures. If we don't get a hold of things very soon we won't have a military or money for education, health care or other essentials.

Military expenditures on the table? Wouldn't "all" cover that?

Military expenditures on the table? Wouldn't "all" cover that? Sometimes it is amazing what "all" doesn't cover.

The money is available to do what needs to be done. The problem is, the money is in the hands of a select few, as is the power. The two go together like hand-in-glove. THAT'S what we need to "get hold of". Let's face it: Those what has it are determined to keep it. Those what don't has it are determined to get some of it. The latter group is blue-skying, since the power lies in the hands of the former group, and power creates money just as money creates power. Greed is the driving force.

You can also go a long way in savings on security, specifically the Homeland Security nonsensical department. Any suspected terrorist on US soil whether by immigration or other should be deported immediately, no trial or jury. This would alleviate huge efforts in tracking and collecting evidence not to mention lengthy and expensive trials all paid for by taxpayers of course. There is a wealth of other measures I could list off however I'm due to meet a naughty client and must leave you for the time being.
Regards,
Dalton McGuinty Burns III

All they do is buy a one way ticket to either Mexico, or Canada, and cross the porous border back into the country.

The fact that conservatives think they know "what" is frustrating them, or "who" they hate and "why".
It's interesting to see how many posts on this board have conservatives stating why the left feels one way or another in an exaggerated statement, and then the left leaning members spend pages posting otherwise.

I wish that I agreed with you but I don't. Elected officials may for a short time try to cut spending but soon will go back to business as normal because that's how they get elected (I created xx number of jobs in my district).
As for "the American people" just look around these boards. I doubt that we could get 90% of the people here to agree that it's daytime (or night time) at 12 noon. The larger the sample of people the more disagreement there will be.
Anymore I believe that at least 35 to 45% of all Americans will vote for whoever promises them the most "free" stuff or whoever will do the most for them. I hate to say this but I bet an American Nazi party (or Communist or socialist or whatever) could get 20% of the popular vote if they promised the most. It depresses the hell out of me.

I think the post by sesfw pretty much sums it up. Most in power today(not just the left) seem to have difficulty and express frustration with facts and common sense.

What are you babbling about Mr. Value Buy? Do you work for Homeland Security or something? The terrorists certainly would not be able to come back through Canada. Not sure about Mexico though but if you're so worried about it then just shoot them instead. Desperate times call for desperate, and draconian measures. Liberal policies for the last 100 years have sealed this fate.

I believe the poster is refering to needs vs. wants. Problem is, a large portion of what the govt spends money on is not needed.
