Thanks Daphne. Today will be better. Hopefully I can talk them into a discount like Suze suggested. Thank you for your input Suze, I really do appreciate it. I know I probably wouldn't have asked for a discount, but now I will.

Thanks, but no thanks. I have zero interest in owning a Town and Country. If I am going to be stuck driving a minivan, then I will stick to the HOnday Odyssey I have. I have the top of the line Odyssey with all the bells and whistles. I bought it brand spanking new from the factory in 2003. It just needed a few repairs. Have a nice day.

Good luck Angel! I understand about the Mommy vehicle too - I have 4 kids (3 steps - live with us full time and my bio-son). We do a lot of camping and fishing, so I drive a Suburban - aka The Beast. Not new and flashy - old and nasty (teal blue with hail damage, dents, scratches, you name it). The only thing that keeps the soccer mom jokes at bay is when people find out it has a bigger engine than DH's truck. That gets me a little respect....a little. I tell the kids all the time - the day after the youngest graduates high school, don't come looking for me. I'll be at the dealership trading in The Beast for my new 'Vette.

By the time your kids are old enough to refuse to be seen in public with you and you can get yourself some wheels that suit, you won't really give a rat's rear about whether or not you're hot...you'll just be sooo grateful that you're in a car without them powering up the volume, bickering, telling you how to drive...I went thru that. Now I'm at the age where I guess you could say I'm going thru my 2nd childhood. IF I buy another car it's going to be something like a vette. If your riding in the back then you better have a firm grip because your hanging on (no seats). Tickets, I'm to old to care. This is really not nice and not called for. She said she was going to the Honda DEALERSHIP and I was offering her some serious advice. I guarantee you I do not work for a MAFIA organization!!!Actually the worst rip off place that I ever went to was a Dodge dealership in CA. We had a warning light come on & took it in. The estimate was right at $500. The good news was that I waited long enough to notice that everybody's estimate was right t $500 so I drove away with no repairs. Turns out the warning light was telling me that I needed a new battery.

Angel, I'm with Suz. Always ask for a discount! The worst that can happen is they say no. But nine out of ten times they give something! And remember to show off your ASSets.

I work for a Chrysler Jeep and Dodge dealership. I am not saying all dealerships are perfect, but to make a blanket statement that they are all Mafia organizations is not right either
Suzwantstobefree, I don't think anyone meant literally that Dodge dealerships were Mafia. Mafia (I think) was used as a generic term for crooks & I know that the one I saw was. On the other hand the 2nd best that I have ever been to was also a dodge dealership (the first was a shade tree mechanic). Oh & I called Chrysler about the dealer & they told me (basically) that they have no control over their dealers, which I thought was "interesting". Anyway I think we all assume that nothing is 100%. Some dealers are good & some are crooks.

I don't like OPCs. (Other people's children.) Some days I don't even like my own. Honey, I feel the same exact way. Hubby and I joke that we wish we could get a thirteenth trimester abortion (our kid is just over 3 years old).

Once the drape climbers, I mean kiddos get older and are close to ready to be shoved out of the nest, then you get to get a fun car. And get something that none of them will want to drive, pick a funky color or just something that makes them all go "OMG do I HAVE to ride in THAT?" so they'll never try to borrow it. My kiddo is 16 and I now have a pink mustang convertible. He's horrified by the color of it, hates to be seen in it, and my hubby would rather walk to wherever he needs to go than drive my pink car. I LOVE IT! it's mine, mine MINE! No pink convertible for me, but I want an electric golf cart that I can cover in solar panels (installed by yours truly, of course...I really am that nerdy). Needless to say, I don't expect my kid will want to borrow it when she turns 16.

Don't read this thread if you don't want to hear me bitch. KTHANKYOUVERYMUCH. Oh and I have been drinking so I don't have any pants on. Now back to my story.....wait..oh yeah. It is costing me $1400 to fix my minivan that I hate. I do NOT look HAWT in a minivan. I look like somebody's mother. Yeah yeah yeah...I have kids. 4 of the little boogers, but I don't want to LOOK like I have 4 kids. Why is it illegal to tie them to the roof of a sporty little car? Sigh...I am too cute to drive a minivan. By the way, what are these repairs? What, exactly, needs to be done?

I needed a new coil pack/spark plugs. My engine was misfiring. That was $375. Then I guess you are supposed to replace the timing belt at 100K and I didn't. I have close to 129K on my van. that was $800. Then my transmission needed to be flushed, that was $134. They also flushed my breaks and power steerings. I know some people don't believe in flushing the fluids. I don't know what to believe. I didn't want to take the chance of not doing it and it causing major damage or something.

Snerdely, I guess I don't want to look like my mom, aunts, and a lot of women I know. It just seems that once they have kids they use it as an excuse to look frumpy and unkept. I know it is in my power to NOT look like that, but I just associate minivans with my mom. I AM thankful for having transportation. That is why I keep the van and don't go buy another car. I don't have a car payment and I am thankful for that. BUT that doesn't mean I have to actually like driving a minivan. It just isn't my personality ya know. I guess that makes me vain?

It doesn't make you vain! You are entitled to want the kind of car that makes you happy! And you'll get it once a couple of those boogers get out of the house.
Oh, and I think I'm days late to this thread, but WTF? You are allowed to have a shitty day without people telling you about so and so who has a worse life than you. Yes, we all know there is someone worse off than us, but those of us who aren't permanently hopped up on anti-psychotic meds or anti-depressants are allowed to have a bad day once in a while.

And so what if you're vain, Angel? You are also practical, so I think they cancel each other out.

Angel Bis long time! Can I also be a vain bitch and say I am really sad I now don't have the money to go get my hair done? I get it done every 8-10 weeks (cut, colored, highlighted...yes I am high maintenance...but damn it, I like to look nice!), but now I am broke! (well, I COULD transfer money from my savings...but it is for emergencies only...but if I find ONE MORE GREY HAIR...It WILL be an emergency). I get paid on the 28th so hopefully I can get my hair done then....sigh.
